    Aspery

Definitely a horse to follow, good run but very green
  2. I'm sure I heard he will be on Sunday week, will be very interesting after hearing some of Des's callers
  3. I saw the Raise the flags at the sales and all looked fantastic, will have to look at sending a mare down, Congratulations Wayne, Karen and the team at White Robe, work really hard and make very little noise doing it
  4. To be fair the person that told me may be a little un reliable, he got it from face book
  5. I have heard a rumour that the SPCA may have laid charges, is this correct?, I would have thought they would have better things to do
  6. Great start and great for brighthill, have ordered a colt from my mare
  7. JBK, Let the horses do the talking on the track, I dealt with several Tavistock colts last season, they had attitude and were well put together with good size, until the barriers open we won't know how good they are. If you had a Zabeel or Sir Tristram do you need a good strike rate with other Stallions and the success of these stallions has helped open up the industry to get the likes of the Coolmore stallions down here. (please note I don't work for CS)

    Coup Align

Very sorry to hear.I was at Timaru the day he broke the track record, Fantastic to watch. Condolences to team Pitman and Coupland
  9. We have a very nice Cape Blanco filly, small leg issue but will come right over time hopefully, anyone else had any Cape B's and what are they like. Booked to Azamour
  10. What has happened to him, I see he isn't in the stud book and there has been no promotion at all
  11. What I am saying is the studs and NZB do a lot of sponsorship, race days, starting gates etc which does give them a take out just like any other sponsor hopes for. I am taking nothing away from the punter because they are the larger contributor to funding, again I go back to one of my original points which is to create change for the good of the whole industry we must all work together as 1 or nothing will happen apart from everyone blaming the other for the industries demise.
  12. That might be true but you also have to look at where a lot of the racing sponsorship comes from, Studs and NZB which is why they have input. Take the Karaka sales out of Russell W report he does have some good points that would make positive impact for all so we can all do what we enjoy which is to breed and race profitably
  13. Isn't the above argument why we are in the position we are in, we all need each other and if we act as 1 then may be we can progress. If it wasn't for breeders trainers wouldn't have horses but if it wasn't for the trainers breeders couldn't sell there product and the punter is in there as well.
  14. Russell is correct in his paper by discussing a wide range of idea's, tinkering around the edges will get us no where as this has all that has been done in the past. The idea of reducing the number of venues has been discussed for years and nothing done. All the discussion documents from the clubs are all about the best for them rather than what is best for the industry, although taking the guineas off Riccarton would be detrimental for South Island Racing and is still a successful carnival. (Disclosure, have been a CJC board member) It is time that the hard calls are made, but we need the right people to be able to implement the changes that can do it with out showing bias to 1 club or another. As was seen yesterday Ellerslie isn't necessarily the knight in shining armour and the industry does exist south of the bombays.
  15. Richhill has announced that Pentires fee is to drop this year
  16. Aquaman, NZTR did look at a similar model called "One Racing" that unfortunately didn't get any traction with the other codes because they knew that Mr acklin wouldn't have been able to save them this time financially (article 16)
  17. I agree fantastic weekend and congratulations to the studs on the presentation of the stallions, the standouts for me were Cape Blanco, Dalgar, Fast n famous and Thorn Park, Bullbars was a nice type as well

    Paeroa

Did i hear correctly that Matamata are taking a 1 year lease to run trials and races at Paeroa, if so great news
  19. Good video, wouldn't it be great to get it into main stream media
  20. I agree an all weather track is needed, i have been trying for a trial or a race day start for over a month and only got a last minute start off the ballot in a 10 horse field today. 1200m on a heavey 11 dosn't suit but we will take it just for the run
  21. it is certainly something we will consider when our current horse finishes, she is have a last campaign now.
  22. I agree there is more chance of me owning a top horse than becoming a professional golfer and as history has shown you don't have to spend the big dollars to get one. It would just be nice if cost to return was a little better. As has been said, it is the HOPE and DREAM that we are all chasing.
  23. We have horese in training (don't get me wrong trainers deserve there fee) we pay training fees and can't visit our horse on race days, our nom fees have gone up, scratching fees and jockey fees gone up (Jockeys deserved the increase), stakes have gone down and the TAB are making a good profit. What other sports work this way where the supplier of product is the one that carries the losses. I suppose it is character building.
  24. With the South Island sale approaching this friday i would like to wish the vendors all the best. The sale is extremely tough every year and that fact a lot keep going back shows true South Island grit.
