  1. There are always exceptions but from what I saw most were winning from the front and thanks Ohokaman for the correction
  2. Was an excellent day, rather be there than Ellerslie
  3. Nothing coming from the back and track cutting up coming on to the straight, not good at this time of year.
  4. I see the track is a dead 5, I thought Timaru was in a Draught!
  5. Congratulations Michael, fantastic carnival and very much deserved, love the track comments
  6. Tony was great and took everything in his stride and was very professional, remember the Dulux Wellington cup, great call in a difficult situation, made a mistake in the cup that cluden creek won, was so embarrassed he re did the call for the connections video. Big loss
  7. We may have numbers in some areas but can you please explain why one of the biggest 3 year old races of the year with a stake of $400k has only 10 starters.
  8. Great result and congratulations to the connections as well as Wayne and Karen Stewart for breeding the horse
  9. Nice article on 7 Sharp last night with the owners of Who Shot The Barman, need a lot more like it
  10. At the end of the day isn't this very similar to the Rangiora issue from 8 or so years ago, people in charge still haven't learnt
  11. a few years ago I was chairman of a SI club I was told by a retired farmer the best way to keep a track safe is to water the hell out of it about 6 weeks out from the meeting and let it dry up to a dead 4, only top off if getting too hard, by doing this you don't get the soft top and hard pan. NZTR also at the time were making us aerate 2 to 3 times a year and we had to own a ground hog to brake the hard pan if needed. Ground hog never got used
  12. Bugger, wish I had seen this before I filled out the annual survey
  13. How can the stipes believe that only 1 month is fair, the injuries to the horse and the expense to the owners is huge, the horse will be out for a good length of time, maybe never race again and this jockey will be back riding again in a month - unbelievable!
  14. Another awesome performance, again congratulations
  15. Congratulations to team Bidlake, great run from a horse that has worked out how to win over the brush.
  16. When I worked for BNZ there were rumors around 2 people an office and a security camera that caught the action, I understand there was a similar rumor about NAB
  17. You will find in the south that some of the courses are owned by DOC and designated equestrian reserve with racing as an eligible use. I know Timaru, Ashburton and Riccarton are.
  18. Didn't we start going down the track of joint codes - One Racing I think it was called, failed because some of the boys would have lost there cushy number and had to find real jobs
  19. Christmas races with parents when Timaru used to have the 2 day meeting
  20. Surprised to see the low number for Cape Blanco, fantastic looking stallion with a great pedegree
  21. Unfortunately it looks to be cutting up very badly
  22. It was good coverage but I was surprised that it was the TV 3 Derby but they didn't run the race on their channel as well.
  23. Don't worry about the geldings they will come back, PR has some nice types out there, a full brother to Al Strada is 1
