Get used to it - starting times at Melton are dictated by the TAB - if no night gallops, first race is 6.42pm but if there are night gallaps, first race is 6.22pm. Harness racing is just a pawn for the gallops and the TAB, whether it be in NZ or OZ.

As an Australian visitor for Cup Week (my eighth cup) I thought the national anthem was brilliant. Sent shivers up my spine. My power to the lady who sang it - her voice was excellent

In Victoria, there's been a few trotters against the pacers in the last couple of weeks (Acacia Ridge last weekend to name but one). I think it is just a scheduling issue - sometimes there is a decent trot race coming up without a suitable lead up race, especially if the horse is coming back from a spell (as was Acacia Ridge).

Karloo Mick was somewhat underdone - two of his lead up races in Sydney were deleted due to lack of nominations. He will be all the better for that run, a lot of improvement there still.
