cjw reacted to JJ Flash in J Macs Big Day
J Mac goes down the isle today in Sydney .
I'm sure all NZ racing fans will join me in wishing him and Katelyn all the very best for today and the future.

cjw reacted to nomates in TRACKSIDE.... Again
Pennyweka continues a great run for NZ 3yo's in Aus , let's hope they do a lot of racing here next season in our better races to not only make them more competitive but help lift the ratings .
Be interesting to see how many turn up as 4yo's as it is the toughest step , 3yo to 4yo season to race against the older horses .
I can't remember a better 3yo crop for many years .

cjw reacted to Pegasus 9 in Will Cummings risk Anamoe with stud career beckoning?
Of course Anamoe is a Champion, whether he wins on a bog track or not.

cjw reacted to mckenzie in Four Group 1 Races
Interesting in hindsight that the 2022 G1 Levin Classic was given a warning by the New Zealand Pattern Committee because the top 4 didn't rate highly enough. The race was won by Imperatriz and I Wish I Win was third.

cjw reacted to Pegasus 9 in Four Group 1 Races
Four Group1 races in Sydney today and all won by NZ bred horses. Great result.

cjw got a reaction from nomates in TAB Outsource UPDATES
An old article but an indication perhaps?
https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/ladbrokes-owner-launches-live-racing-channels-in-media-push-20220717-p5b27r.html
Entain now has a valuable product in wall-to-wall racing.
We've got our answers which keep trainers and owners happy but what's the future hold for punters & spectators of our beloved sport, the one's who have left our courses and already changed channels. What's being promised to get their eyes on racing and their money on a good bet. Will we get our own STC/.COM which designates a decent amount of time to conduct analysis, reviews, interviews on course?

cjw got a reaction from Pak Star in PROWESS
Prowess has continued to improve with every run to date. Absolute class and the writing is on the wall - this is one of the best crops of horses we've had race in NZ, and their success in Australia cements this. There's a recipe for success brewing here, with high-quality jockey imports and quality NZ bloodstock.
What a great weekend for NZ racing!

cjw reacted to Black Kirrama in H K Derby night: J Richards 3 starters: J Mac, H Bowman, V Ho, D Lane, R Moore and other Trivia including Guy Mulcaster.
One of the highlights of any International racing year, for me, is The 2000m HK Derby. 9:40 pm tonight 19.03.23.
Fourteen starters, for 4 year olds only. (NZ $4.87 million ).
The 2000m Barrier position 1 - 7, then 12 have highest win stats but the quality of the riders will determine every possible chance for every runner.
Two NZ breds #6 Tuchel ( 4g Redwood ) Ryan Moore and #7 Beauty Verse (4g Tarzino ) J McDonald
One filly takes on the males. The David Hayes trained Bon's A Pearla .She won the 1000gns prelude at Caulfield and was 3rd in The Australian Guineas.
J Richards 18 season wins. 9.23 % SR
3 runners on Derby Night and Zac Purton rides two of them and Luke Currie on the other.
- Race 2 6.30pm 1. Rattan Kingdom ( 5g Per Incanto ) Z P
- Race 4 7:40 pm 9. Courier Marvel ( 3g Ocean Park ) L Currie
- Race 9 9:40 pm 5. Magniac ( 3g Lucky Street . won 3 /6 Belmont WA as a 2 year old.) Z P
Jockey Trivia.
D Lane, J McD, Hugh Bowman, Ryan Moore, Blake Shinn all rode in Australia yesterday.
Bloody incredible athletes aren't they ? Like all Jockeys they are heroes.
Do they play Euchre on the plane ?
Do they compare pay days ?
Was Ryan Moore offered shares in his Slipper winning colt, Shinzo ?
Do they talk about pending suspensions and family holidays ?
( D Lane 5 rides at Rosehill yesterday and won on Gin Martini )
Guy Mulcaster's HK Derby Purchase.
There was a Terrific interview yesterday with The Captain, on our SENZ Radio where he mentioned he had bought #17 Straight Arron.
I think as a yearling.
Good punting tonight.
Remember the quinella pools are colossal . Trifecta pools are not commingled.

cjw reacted to We're Doomed in TRACKSIDE.... Again
It is hard to please everyone. I quite like Brisbane and Adelaide racing. Personally, the two tracks I don't bet at are Tauranga and Moonee Valley, so when they both pop up on the same day I need the likes of Brisbane and Adelaide to keep me amused.

cjw got a reaction from Huey in NZTR Roadshows
My opinion, the addition of imported jockeys has elevated the overall quality with their superior style, tactics, presentation and professionalism.
The TAB has done well in marketing, but this increase has come with a cost. It remains to be seen if they can retain this new audience.
Regarding the loveracing.nz website, i find that there are too many clicks required to access replays, making it less effective compared to international websites. The website is visually appealing, but with today's fast-paced world, time is of the essence. Slow video rendering and excessive clicks can be frustrating for users.
I also question why the roadshows are not broadcast online with live chat options. This could increase engagement and interaction.

Great interview with Jamie today on Weigh In, he looks set for the next 10-15 years in Hong Kong... as long as he's competitive.

cjw reacted to mckenzie in Jacinda Ardern
Ardern was democratically elected as our PM. When the threat to her life becomes so great that she can't attend events because of the violence towards her and she figures it's not worth it, I really don't think that's a good thing for democracy. There's plenty of Prime Ministers and politicians I have disagreed with a lot over the years, I've never thought abusing, swearing at, and making threats towards them is acceptable as some seem to think it is today. Imagine if we all did that when we didn't agree with a politician or public figure.

cjw reacted to Pak Star in What A Ride
Speaking of rides, how about the stewards sending Damian Lane home with a $4,000 fine for whipping Ethereal Star one more time than permitted. I know the punishments are more severe in big races but 4k for one whip is crazy. "Welcome to NZ, but be sure to pay this before you leave again".
Warren was also fined for a whip infringement after race one - a mere $150.
