Yeah i was trying to do the maths on that Pondy.  My very crude calcs.
3yo gelding no residual value so needs to pay its way in earnings.  Let's say for example that it races for two more years - 24 months at monthly contribution of $260 = $6,240. Add that to the $4,100 purchase price gives total outlay of $10,340.
To recoup that the horse would need to earn stakes (after trainer & jockey deductions) of around $138k over those two years.  If trainer & jockey get 15% (just guessing) that means around $162k in stakes before deductions.
Has earned $72k in 10 starts to date.
Of course all of this places no value on the fun of racing a horse.

Another grand competition.
I really liked that idea of 4th placings earning a point ! I had 4 of them today (when I missed a first three placing), and those solitary points  kept me in the game. 😁
