My favourite sports event I attended was when the Black Caps played Oz for the first time in NZ after the Trevor Chappel incident. At Eden Park and it was just an amazing atmosphere. Big crowd so late getting in. Someone noticed an old attendant hadn’t locked a gate properly and we all streamed thru. Free. Crowd was allowed to sit inside the fence behind ropes. Oz fielded first and Greg Chappel copped the works when he touched the ball. Didn’t last long though. He scored a century but Richard Hadlee was too good and Kiwis won. I’ve never been in a crowd like it. It was like everyone was family. Birds were getting there tops off and prancing round. Strangers were hugging. And afterwards there was a sea of cans and bottles. Great days.
In athletics mode I saw Peter Snell break the world record for the mile in Wanganui in 1962?? Super athlete. Just sheer power. An all time favourite.

Just a small bit of trivia regarding Parksy , he rode I wish I win in his first start as a 2yo at Awapuni , for a win .
That horse might have 2 jocks up today .

Just turned on trackside to hear this terrible and tragic news .
I worked with Jonathan whilst he was an apprentice , he was a great kid who didn't have a bad bone in his body , he had a tough start in life but was working hard to make a career for himself , and he would be the first to admit he wasn't a natural but with very hard work a great career he did make . A very under rated jockey who had lovely hands , was one of the few who could ride on a long rein and a great judge of tempo .
He used to visited my wife and myself after he  moved back to Wanganui , and always came up and talked to us in the grandstand if he didn't have a ride . Spent a lovely day with him at our place one Xmas day , and those memories will always be with us .
A genuinely nice guy who is a great loss to everyone he touched and to the racing industry as a whole .
    R.I.P. Skins .

whilst there have been some challenges with the new website there has been a clever little "tweek" to individual profiles and views
The TAB Marketing team can "adjust" individual account profiles to limit bonus bet races , even limiting what is available to you on the main promotions page.
I can only get races 1-2 at Ellerslie,  Caulfield and Randwick tomorrow however a mate can get races 1-4 !!
Amazing how this works , but some other basics have had glitches

Back to picking winners this week and it's pretty simple:
    1.  Pick three horses in each of the 10 races listed below - in each race you will have $5 each way on all three picks, a $2 boxed quinella and a $1 boxed trifecta.
    2.  You will have two best bet races where your bet is doubled.  They can be any two of the 10 races listed below.
Posting deadline this week is 1.00pm.
This weeks 10 races are as follows.
    1. Caulfield R1
    2. Caulfield R6
    3. Caulfield R7
    4. Caulfield R8
    5. Caulfield R9
    6. Randwick R4
    7. Randwick R5
    8. Randwick R6
    9. Randwick R7
    10. Randwick R8
Please enter horse numbers, with some form of punctuation (eg. / ) between each number, and don't forget to mark your two best bet races.

Some people just complain because they have nothing else good to do. I'm personally sick of it.
Whilst Trackside is nowhere near perfect it is far better than what it was say 12 months ago. Trackside are open to change and bringing new people in, trying new ideas and over time that could work out well.
The additions of Erin Leighton and Guy Heveldt are very good, and the returns of Jayne Ivil (she is a star - Black Caviar of presenters) and Greg O'Connor (who is also very good) is a step in the right direction.
Australia are and always will be way ahead of us, but at least now we are in the same straight as opposed to being left gassed at the 1000 and the leader (Australia) bolting away.

You have not even given him a chance FFS, he is keen he is likeable and he is having a go, some people just moan for the sake of it I am sure, the trackside team have made changes, on the face of it they look to be listening, so give these new people some time instead of negativity just because you can. They are way better than the drivel we have had previously even you must agree with that....or are you that unreasonable???

Hi Monei. Good question. I just like using the tables for working out which runners did very well or poorly using the times and sectionals, and my subscribers like that point of difference. Using times and sectionals is not everyone’s cup of tea, but over the years I wouldn’t bother punting without them.
Table 1 is in race order – self explanatory
Table 2 In Distance order so you can compare times and sectionals run  over the same distance e.g, 4 x 1200m races can be compared at Hastings
Table 3 shows the average 200m sectionals run to the 600m from the start of the race. So you can see that the Tarzino was run at the fastest tempo all day ( 11.59), even faster than all the 1200m races
Poetic Champion was run at 12.20 which was quite slow when compared to the other distances, so runners off pace had little chance of winning.
Table 4 The last 600 in order tells you the time of the last 600. Handy to tell you at a glance which races came home fastest.
Table 5 Tells you how fast each 200m was run for the whole race. Handy for working out speed ratings and which races were fast and slowly run.
Table 6 Race time in order. Handy for seeing which races were run at quicker and slower times.

Geez you guys are really hard to please...before they were rubbished left right and centre, and mostly rightly so, now they introduce some new faces the poor fella has been in the job two weeks and you are already sinking the slipper in, give him 6 months to get his feet under the table...I bet you were not an expert from the start either.

It's also not unreasonable for owners south of Cambridge to be able to race for black type close to home. CD owners don't need the Manawatu Classic, Taranaki 2yo Classic, or Otaki WFA Classic to be run at Ellerslie. "High class facilities" (which currently don't include a safe track) eight hours up the road are inferior to a local race where you can get a big bunch of family and friends along.

Memphis3 reacted to JJ Flash in Vale Mr Graham McNeice
Vale Mr Graham McNeice The horse racing and media worlds are tonight mourning the passing of an industry icon, Mr Graham McNeice who was fondly known by all as ‘Shadow’.
“Graham McNeice was not only a legend in media but a giant in the racing industry,” said Mr Peter V’landys AM, Racing NSW’s Chief Executive.
“However, even with all his contributions and achievements, the memory I have is of a beautiful human being – the racing and media families have lost one its most popular members.”
    The late Mr Graham McNeice
Graham grew up as one of six children in Croydon Park and became a greyhound caller firstly under the wing of mentor Frank Kennedy.
Graham was later appointed full-time understudy at Radio 2UE to racecaller Des Hoysted and would do the odd race meeting at midweeks whenever Des was unavailable.
Graham eventually moved into television and had a long association with Channel 10 as a producer.
That led to Graham becoming one of the pioneers of satellite sports television in Australia as the founding Executive Producer at Club Super Station which later evolved into Sky Channel.
Sky Channel was initially under the ownership of Alan Bond when it started in Perth and McNeice played a huge part in having the operation moved to Sydney.
From there Sky Channel started beaming into pubs and clubs with McNeice as the main host.
It was an historic day in 1998 when the races were first broadcast into homes and McNeice served 12 years as host of the popular Sunday morning program, Racing Retro.
And six years ago, both Graham and great friend John Tapp were honoured by being inaugural inductees into Sky Racing’s Hall of Fame.
Graham then moved into the production of many outstanding sports and crime documentaries courtesy of his company Shadow Productions.
Mr Graham McNeice will be missed by a multitude of family, friends and colleagues from the racing and media industries.

Why would you go for something, spending tens of millions of dollars, and utilise expertise from Flemington (I'm sure I've read that somewhere recently) instead of the likes of Moonee Valley, Sha Tin and/or Strathyr themselves? Once again, I'm no expert, but l do know a bit about cars and I wouldn't order a brand-new, top-of-the-range, Ferrari, ask them to replace their world-renowned V12 engine with a Morris Marina power plant, then get it maintained by the local Hyundai dealer. Recipe for disaster on every level. Who is backing Ellerslie if this all turns to something more like what Greek Meer or Gatcombe's Pride used to revel in at Trentham? Why wouldn't you start with what the doctor ordered, then possibly (and even then only possibly) consider fine-tuning it ever so slightly in later years?

This race on Sunday needs a name change .It is not the Great Northern Steeplechase .The Great Northern is 3 times over the hill ,the ultimate test of stamina .If those in charge choose to disregard tradition and abandon history then they must change the name of a once magnificent event  .Maybe call it the "We sold the hill and killed 100yrs of history Steeplechase "  or the "Ask your grandad how great the Northern used to be Steeplechase "

    Birdsville ....Not to be underestimated.
A little bit of research clearly shows why they crossed, when they did.
Current population of Birdsville = 110   - apparently 86% of them were born in Australia and 94% of them speak English only at home (I suspect Foul is the predominate language in Public)
Looks like they draw a bigger crowd than we get for half of our meetings, and they even prepared the landing strip in the centre of the track for VIP arrivals too!
In 2013 the population swelled to 7000 people, so the 6890 crowd attendance puts it not that far behind Karaka Millions at our premier facility with it's brand new track 🤪 (12,000 pies consumed over the weekend)

A few Fashions in the Field entrants, Birdsville style

And the most popular promotion for the weekend - Smash the Crap Outa Ya Mate

Exactly. Why don’t they survey what the punters want. Then there won’t be any dispute as that’s what we voted for. People who bet on Morphetville can change to TS 2. The whole 3 of them. Probably Gruff and two others.
The Ozi system works well. If you want to bet on Warrenmang you change channel.
    There I’ve fixed it.
