Apparently has no serious injuries which is great news.
Stable fracture in her C1 vertebrae but no spinal cord injury.

Yes, he did make an attempt to hold him out, you can see a noticeable gap open up with the trailing runner, but it was short lived and he put his whip down, Mossdale had better acceleration.
I am not sure that Harness Punters would expect a gross breach of Harness rules to allow a trailing stablemate access to a run he was not entitled too.
I am not aware of any Harness rules dealing specifically with 'stable' or team driving, but there are plenty of rules regarding driver behavior.
Incidentally I have looked at Dashing Major's last 7 races, and in all cases he corners like a train on the tracks, the stipes reports have no wayward incidents reported during the running of these races, TM has driven the horse on many occasions.
The 2 horses are trained by a  HRNZ Board member (allegedly), and the son of an RIB Board member drove the horse that 'lay out' conveniantly giving the trailing stablemate a run to the passing lane, the horse had not previously done this in his races.
The gossip of course is that the 'stable money' was on the winner.

Ned Kelly reacted to MissJools in Kelsey Hannan in Hospital after racefall.
    From Racing.com:
Strathalbyn’s Sunday meeting has been postponed after Kelsey Hannan was taken to hospital following a fall past the post in the opening event of the day.
Hannan’s mount, Grant Young’s Iva Dream, appeared to clip heels and hit the deck around 50 metres after the finish line, throwing the 21-year-old over the front.
Reports say Hannan was slipping in and out of consciousness but was able to move her legs and squeeze people’s hands, complaining of neck pain when responsive.
The talented Kiwi apprentice was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in an induced coma and a neck brace, with further updates on her condition to follow. The other jockey's riding at the Strathalbyn race meeting took a vote and elected to withdraw their services for the rest of the meeting,   The remaining 7 races will be run this Friday, at a venue to be decided.

What do you mean it's not real grass? Of course it is. Nothing like the synthetic tracks you mention. And with superior drainage to most grass tracks, you'd think it would need more, not less, irrigation.

Ned Kelly reacted to CeeMeNow in $723
These 3 meetings had a combined LOSS of $497,217
The 14 meetings from 1st August to 31 December had a combined LOSS of $1,085,880   (my calculations)
The three December meetings lost as much as the first 11 meetings, and given tonight's fields this trend will continue.
With the Entain guarantee at present, it doesn't matter, but it sure as hell will in 4 years and 4 months!

Geez why cant we be positive for a change, the barrier draw was something new, innovative, times move on we need to move with them. As for the track it is world class and no reason to believe it will be anything other than super in due course, lets wait and see how it races before we all start throwing brickbats shall we. JMO

There are no "ups" with the ATC, they are receiving funding from HRNZ and flushing it down the toilet, their population advantage has been there for ever, and they have failed miserably to capitalize on that!
What have the ATC been doing to change the situation?   NOTHING!
What has HRNZ done to limit the hemorrhaging of Industry funding?   NOTHING!

Ned Kelly reacted to MissJools in Holiday time for W Pinn
From the Stipes Report: W Pinn (TRUMP CARD) - Admitted a charge of careless riding after permitting his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of COPPERS which was crowded and checked approaching the 100 metres. Also hampered as a result was JAZZ WITH DRAGON. After considering submissions the Adjudicator imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Saturday 27 January up to and including racing on Thursday 8 February, 5 national riding days.

W Pinn has been suspended three times: Pinn (INSPIRED BY ART) - Admitted a charge of careless riding after permitting his mount to shift outwards when not sufficiently clear of EVER CHARM which was checked approaching the 100 metres. Also inconvenienced as a result was BOOM BOOM, HORONUKU and BAMBOOZLE. After considering submissions the Adjudicator imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Thursday 8 February up to and including racing on Sunday 18 February, 7 national riding days.

Pinn (STATE OF FEAR) - Defended a charge in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible placing by failing to ride his mount with sufficient vigour when detached from the body of the field in the early to middle stages. After considering submissions the Adjudicator found the charge proven and imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Sunday 18 February up to and including racing on Sunday 17 March, 4 weeks.

NO tote windows on course?  Use your cell phone!
Any management consultant will tell you that on course tote windows are too expensive.  Counting, handling, then reconciling cash is a hugely time consuming and expensive exercise now that the minimum wage has been pushed so high.
BUT, if that management consultant had spent the past 60 years dealing with, chatting with and observing punters in many countries, as I have, then that management consultant would recognise the awful expense of tote windows is actually money very well spent.
    Tote windows are necessary for the impulse bettor who, with a bursting bladder says to a mate;
"put that fifty on the 7 horse"
as he dashes for the loo.  Supermarkets recognise the impulse buyer with all that junk they have next to the checkout counters.  The tote must also recognise that part of their market.  A part of their market that if the transaction involves intricate manoevering of the fat fingers around a tiny keyboard, then the transaction will not go ahead.
The Green Party member who wants to put $40 on Golly Gee because it is descended from that Melbourne Cup winner Light Fingers, will probably not have a TAB account.

Congratulations Amber Sims winning the open handicap with Coruba Jak at Tauranga today.
The win follows Coruba Jak's close third in the G3 Waikato Cup last month.
Today was the 31st time Amber has sent one around and she has now registered 4 wins.

Jesus really??!!! There was a wall of about 7 horses all within a neck of 2nd. He had one job in that race and that was to call a classic for the Andertons. You've got to remember that meeting was postponed 24 or 48 hours because of the shock surrounding his passing. Probably one of the best calls ever on a NZ race track in a highly iconic race and all you're worried about is nailing 2nd and 3rd. Give me strength mate.

Ned Kelly reacted to CeeMeNow in Proposed low stake races
Firstly, they should look back at the reasoning for cancelling the $2000 Tuesday meetings.
Secondly, Auckland and Cambridge are losing money, surely a significant reason for that is the small fields and lack of punter interest. Giving those venues more meetings will only lesson the numbers even more.
I do however think there is a place in racing for some lower staked races.   Personal preference would be for $5000 penalty free races for horses that have won less than $1000 in their last 5 starts.
