The  "Thank You Gary Woodham Mobile Pace"  with only 4 starters sums up HRNZ over the last few years!

That's extremely disappointing, although understandable. Probably make the race a more open affair, but to see Aussie's undisputed #1 pacer and undisputed #1 trotter on the same night was a dream come true for somebody (me) looking for a 'last harness meeting' to attend on the old bucket list. But the night is still looking better than anything Alexandra Park is likely to offer, so I guess I'll see how the final fields stack up.

    What's Gore famous for?
Well there is the Brown Trout statue, and the Gold Guitar Awards, and even Sgt Dan the Cremoata man, and then there is the Gore Trotting Club.
In 2020 HRNZ closed the Gore track, 3 years later on the 28th September 2023, after successfully appealing the decision, the club commenced racing on their home track again.
This season, up to end of February, they have the highest percentage return on Funding in NZ.
    4  race days          T/O  $3.385m             GBR  $797k              GBR % to Funding       173.4%
    Compare to ATC
    17                          T/O  $11.688m         GBR   $2.089m        GBR  to Funding            68.2%
    Compare to ADD
    24                         T/O  $31.780m          GBR  $6.835m        GBR  to  Funding           87.1%
Which one should HRNZ be closing?
    * These figures are based on FUNDING as opposed to HRNZ Stakes Funding, if the Stakes Funding was used Gore and Auckland would have a lower % and Addington a higher %.

Unfortunately it only gets worse with two other trainers one fairly high profile who gets a lot of support from hrnz  facing even more disgusting criminal charges. As an earlier poster stated its disgraceful that Australian participants know more about what’s going on in the industry here than us. Although these scumbags are responsible for their own actions hrnz have done nothing to address this group of degenerates

    Thursday night @ Cambridge.
    🟢 R3 Shez The One
Finally gets a decent draw to work with and has put some nice enough runs in.
I'd be more around the top 3 option in a bit of an unpredictable maiden race with #11 being backed from $21 into $2.50.
    Top 3 $2.30
    🟢 R5 Best West
Model of consistency and drawn to get an economical run over the 2700.
A couple of these runners pretty much have to start in this feild tonight to be eligible for bigger things later on in the year and don't have to win so might not push too hard and use this as a "qualifying run"
With that being said, I'm liking the place money around Bet West as a multi builder.
    Top 3 $3.00
    🟢 R6 Faith In Manchester
You can't fault her form and this is another winable race with the inform Crystal Hackett aboard. She is knocking on the door of another win! Will it be tonight?
    $4.20 and $1.80
    🟢 R7 Hail Lucius
I tipped this out over the Christmas break after just watching his runs and waiting to pull the trigger. He got up paying $8.50 from memory.  I have left him alone since but think this is another winable race and it's time to pull that trigger again!
    $6.50 and $2.30
    The anchor multi 😅 ⚓️
    Shez The One Top 3
    Bet West Top 3
    Faith In Manchester Top 3
    Hail Lucius Top 3
    $10 for $190.44
    Good luck 🙂

What I don't get , aside from the track issues , is why are they running a meeting the week before a major G1 race meeting . This has become the norm with NZTR , run a ho hum meeting the week before a major race is to be run on the same track . Surely common sense dictates that you run your best races on the best surface , so run the other day after the main meeting .
Now the outcome is the best horses are running in the best races on a substandard surface , it would be a different story if our tracks were absolute top surfaces but as we know and the thread is discussing they simply aren't .
Time that more thought was put into our dates , at present it amateurish and lazy , just keep doing what we always have .
I have said this many times , our whole calendar needs an overhauling .

What a joke what was all the blurb they put out a couple of weeks ago..what a load of bollocks the track is Donald Ducked but it is not alone in that respect...pour all the money you want into stakes but if the tracks are stuffed what's the point...its almost to the stage where there is not a decent track left....but hey things are good just keep the blinkers on and charge forward.

I personally think they should have gone with some smaller trainers that don't get the recognition and credit they massively deserve. Yes all the trainers that they gave them to are good at what they do and there is a reason they are getting regular winners but without all of the smaller stables racing wouldn't be able to survive. Like I still think Chris Wood is a very good trainer - doesn't get the best bred horses but still gets some nice horses that are well turned out and are getting results for him a lot. The likes of Kelso, Danica Guy, Patterson, Didham, Thurlow and many others of examples of trainers that I'd much prefer my horse to go to.

Was at Tauherenikau today - great crowd sure good weather helped but everyone seemed to be having a great time with their picnics and gazebos. Good racing too even if the track firmed up with 32+ degrees and a slight wind.
    Great country racing atmosphere!

They were working in that they opened when activated. They were never tested or checked in any way to stop them opening spontaneously without the starter activating them which is what they claim occurred to cause the incident. Seems very dangerous and risky to me to have carried on with those gates if that was really the case and if the spare set couldn't be deployed in time, the meeting should have been abandoned for health and safety reasons.

That's what is reported in the stipe's report for sure. But why on earth would the starter (and RIB) put horses, riders and starter's assistants at further risk by restarting the race and continuing their use for the day if that is correct and there was an undetermined fault? They've now decided to not re-use those gates pending a full check and maintenance update by Steriline. Something doesn't add up there.

Ohokaman on the first day back racing at Ellerslie on the 14th of January they had the rail out 7m. In hindsight it may have been better to have it in the true position so the inside ground could be consolidated. They put it in the true position on the big day on Saturday on ground that hadn't been galloped on. Might have been a factor why three horses slipped?
