  1. Your argument is completely flawed, you wear shoes don't you? It's a global pandemic, this virus is highly infectious and our response is fight or die. Broadcasting changes everything, racing has to be seen as representatives to the general public. Vlandy's has enforced so many rules on Australian racing and it's why they've successfully kept their product running.
  2. Why would you not? Its good advice to protect the sport, do you back losers when tipped winners?
  3. Look's like a teenagers school project.
  4. good point. must be emergency circumstances.
  5. do you want a monkey, alligator and giraffe to go with our shark? a glorified pokie machine isn't going to change anything
  6. i don't think it matters where you bet and having bookmakers won't change anything, people don't want to bet on racing because they don't like what they see. The product is sold like a pokie machine and less people see it as a sport because no one is selling it as a sport.
  7. Its pre-noms so you get your money back if they don't nominate, right? I presume the market is made up by assumption and customers who request odds for their selected picks
  8. photos might help discussions. these photos were published by https://twitter.com/SurfingPunter social media is helping to keep the game competitive but more importantly, honest. I expect a long spell for bowman.
  9. Dangerous. I'm with bonjour, I think it would have won.
  10. stewards on course are the ones who make the call "horse was fractious, horse's actions made Ashley Butler protect himself - therefore horse's fault, can't be deemed a non-runner"
  11. that is bad for saturday racing... on friday nights harness the pick6 closed off close to 25k?
  12. Owners only and they're kept in a controlled area
  13. FYI My solution to the spinning wheel of death for results is to load this page - https://new.tab.co.nz/results It doesn't have any of the fancy graphics and loads provisional's when they're available, load time is instant. If you keep hanging on the race page, this is the page you want.
  14. I think loveracing have done good with their website in recent years, I use it primarily to look up the racing calendar, race starts, nominations, breeding & replays, it's also the only website which promotes the Jockey & Trainer premiership. The replay function has improved immensely in recent times, a few years ago I use to have a lot of issues with buffering, it's now almost instant. I do like what racing.com offer with their last 400m replays, the final 400m is bookmarked and plays on from that start point, when short time it's really handy. Loveracing do most of their work online, so if you aren't connected to that space then you won't be engaging with any of their work. Racing is very much what you know, who you know and isn't inviting to people who don't know where to go.
  15. Peter Earley's video tribute resonated with me, when he was a young boy he attended the racetrack and was tipped a horse to bet - it won and that started his love for racing (roughly the gist of it). The tipster would have never thought anything of it, but that information built a racing legacy, 50 years of content and contribution to racing. We live in a day and age where punters want more information than they can chew, to restrict it is the biggest mistake
  16. Hopefully over the next month or two we see more of our stars commit
  17. Track ran well, looked tough especially late in the arvo, good to have NZ racing back in action
  18. The coverage has been fine in my opinion
  19. This is the first day back and the majority of our horses are ridden by apprentices, where are our best senior jockeys to promote our product? we see jockeys riding hands and heels, they lose balance if they try to raise a whip, in Australia the critics which are the punters would be on forum boards being incredibly critical. It's great to encourage new talent but today is a big day and it isn't a great representation of the great things we have to offer from NZ racing.
  20. Lincoln farms is a terrific website. Barry's news segments are great - even if i don't agree with everything he says, it gets everyone talking
