Good point canon47 but you need to pass a venue inspection before being granted a permit to race.
The powers that be want all of the facilities to be ship shape ie track conditions, the stand, all buildings, camera towers etc and the list goes on. One of the reasons these seldom used venues are not racing .

Probably a bit busy now and perhaps not top of his priorities but I will let you know if and when I get a reply.
I asked several questions Re our game, it will be interesting to get his answers.

Diesel,You worry me with your attempt to create an argument re greyhound racing being cruel and inhumane in your opinion.
Yet you state you hardly ever have watched them and appear to have no knowledge of the way they are prepared and looked after particularly before they race.
All forms of sport, equine, canine, and all human sports involve strapping, grease etc on legs to prevent rubbing injury.
Someone here previously explained this comprehensively to you and is bang on, the white “grease” is water soluble and helps against rubbing, certainly not an ointment to treat an injury, same basically as what my knees were covered with when I played rugby.
The vet goes over every part of every dog before they are kenneled before racing.
These animals absolutely love to race, they are treated as family, and are brilliant pets after racing
Re the drug question that is a human thing that has crept into our society as a whole, doctors, lawyers etc too involved just by reading the press, one bad egg does not mean it is rife and the swabbing system in all sports will catch the bad eggs.
Not my field but I would suggest drugs and injury to animals is way more prevalent in domestic pets than you may realise.
Diesel, I do hope this helps you understand the love and care these neat athletic animals get, probably better than most children get, but I do have a question for you
I do hope you are not a placard carrying activist on here trying to get a bite as your questions were originally answered pretty well I thought.

Every day across all 3 codes the experts put up multi, quaddie, pick 6 selections and I often take a photo of the screen and check the results later.
Regularly gone in the first leg and hardly ever a winning result.

Sorry John Legend, my last paragraph was badly written.
I still support harness racing, still involved in ownership and punting , still have many friends involved like I am. Still attend at the track , perhaps not quite as regular as previous years. I have never bred a Standardbred though.
Everyone I have known that has been involved in governance has had a passion for the industry, perhaps maybe you too?
Never easy for everyone to agree on the magic formula though.

John Coulam has his own name and signature on his post. He has put time and effort to help the whole harness fraternity try and achieve a sustainable result over a long period of time at several levels , now at Chairmans level.
Flash, Tasman, etc, including me as well are keyboard warriors with no target on our shirts.
You guys might know who you all are and your pedigree re club representative, trainer etc but I don't. In my opinion if you don't like what John Coulam says or does get on your local club committee and be part of the process that elected him.
He is at least communicating with everyone to keep us in the picture.
Thank you from an owner but not a breeder, former  club committee person, punter, and racing in general enthusiast.

Re the Racing Minister, I once had a meeting with a previous holder of this position and pre Winston.
He was driven halfway across the country in his chauffeur driven BMW along with his black suited advisor. We had given his office a brief on exactly what our questions were and why we needed the information about the subject.
He was not only the racing minister but held several other titles.
He was useless, was not and did not answer any one of our questions, he kept deferring to his offsider who said we cannot answer that but will get back to you.
Then back in the car Eddie and gone.
So in my mind the number one man is given the job but they are not racing people, they have several other portfolios, they have background staff pulling the strings and advising them.
So don't hang your hat on them improving racing or making recommendations or rational decisions.
Unfortunately it is generally just a job not a passion.

    Ends up at 25.50
    Pedro Lee runs 25.
The clock has somehow malfunctioned so they panic and go to an outside influence from last year's rules, not this years, and leave everyone hanging
    Finally 25.61? Is declared wtf
How could it go up when all the other times stayed in the 25.? And become 25.61
Cannot wait to see the replay when I get home because surprisingly has yet to be posted 😳

Lawyers have a code of conduct and ethics, accountants, car dealers, real estate agents etc have a similar written code to abide by.
But although the majority stick to the rules there are bad eggs in every game.
Another poster on here suggests a lifetime ban, I tend to agree.
If that power is available or possible to use it surely would be a hell of a deterrent for those thinking of offending.
    Worth a shot maybe?
