  1. would be Lloyd Jury - don't think I have ever been at a harness meeting in the north when he hasn't been there - does a lot for the industry at the workouts etc.
  2. The irony is that it was actually Tony that drove Awesome Desire in it's first race day win. Think they would have done their homework better - very good story on TV One news. Looks like the long term prognosis for Frank is that he will be okay which sounds really good news - each day forward will make a difference. No other injuries apart from the conconcussion we hear. All the best to Frank in his recovery.
  3. As part of the syndicate that races Awesome Desire our thoughts are with Frank and his family at this difficult time. The report late last night on trackside was that he was comfortable and we hope this is the case rather than the Herald report (which hopefully when to press earlier). Wishing you well in your recovery. Kevin & Glenys Sharpe
  4. If you saw us at birdcage we both hugged Craig and Sheryl congratulated them both we we all first got to the winners circle and I even shook Todd's hand and said well done. I'm not completely heartless - it was a very emotional time for all.
  5. I think I had every right to be upset in the stabling area when our son had just told us he didn't give a shit about us - yes he was upset because deep down he realised the enormity of what he had just done to his parents. We didn't know who the reporter was - he approached us at the presentation as my husband said "we were standing there like spare pricks at a wedding" and he asked us what our role was in this horse. For your information we have had several long chats and many texts with Craig and all is fine (blood is thicker than water) he realises he has made a colossal error in judgement and that we were all played by Aaron. We as his parents know he is just goes with the flow - doesn't like to make waves (he thought he had no choice in signing too and that is why he signed so quickly) and I have advised him that in the future if he has any doubts with dealings that he should ring the appropriate people at HRNZ and not listen to what other people who think they know the rules are saying. I will not hold it against Todd either as he knows he has made a right dog's breakfast of the dealings too. You can't turn back time - we can only move forward. Craig has no doubt about how much we love him.
  6. I was on a hiding to nothing - if I hadn't signed and the horse ran last I would have everyone on my back for not selling. I am now the villian in the piece because I have gone public in the media and aired their dirty washing in public - if they had acted in a professional, appropraite manner there would have been no dirty washing to air. To all of you who race horses you know this opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime for us "small time" owners. Todd has apologised to us over and over again since the sale but "The horse had already Cyclone U-Bolted".Sole responsibility comes back to Aaron Lowe (Mr 55%) but Todd admits he handled things poorly (bit of an understatement). Our son just trained his first group one and we couldn't even be happy for him - really sad all round. Once again thanks all for your kind words and support. Kevin and Glenys Sharpe
  7. We got a very small proportion of the winning stake - I got more off more $10 win punt so that puts that in perspective.
  8. I offered to write out a cheque on Thursday Night to buy out the 55% shareholder and was told if the new owners still wanted to sue then the horse would be stood down from racing for six months while it went before the courts - this no longer seemed like a good plan to invest a vast amount of our money - money was never the issue for use racing this horse - we race horses for the love of the sport - I have two pacers with another trainer (who are the ultimate professionals) and we told them on Saturday when they were consoling us - find us a Jewels horse - no pressure and we all laughed. I also have shares in two thoroughbreds.
  9. This is Glenys Sharpe - Tasman Man get your facts right this was NOT a syndicate we paid good money to buy this horse along with the other owners - Majority shareholder does not get right to sell Under HRNZ laws without consent from all owners. I'm the only one in this shonky deal who bothered to check my facts and the law with HRNZ who were extremely helpful and sympathetic to the situation we were being put in. It was the majority shareholder making all the threats that if I didn't my son would lose his job at Todd's as he wouldn't have any money to race his other horses and the barn wouldn't survive. It spoilt the day for the new owners too as they told us if they knew how the deal was going down on this end they wouldn't have had a bar of buying the horse. There was no negiotiation over the price - everything in the article is true and correct - I was on a hiding to nothing to standing my legal rights - HRNZ said I could not be sued by the new owners it would be the majority shareholder for signing up to a deal he had no rights to the other parties share and only had a right to sell his own 55% shareholding. We were in this for the long haul as you are with trotters who often get better with age. I was told Wednesday night your horse worked awesome today and then the next afternoon we were advised it was sold. Lots of scrambling phones calls from the trainers and 55% shareholders forcing me to sign the papers - up until now I had never a phone call from the 55% shareholders or the senior trainer since we had owned the horse. We we just so proud to have our dream of a horse in the jewels - we would have been so proud of him wherever he ran. Glenys & Kevin Sharpe
