Interesting that small provinces it seems get same votes as major unions, is that right, a lot of these small unions are mostly falling by the way, should they merge ? Many of the small teams would not field teams in heartland without shipping in players from out of province.
Will the provinces break from the hierarchy and do their own thing, simple fact is rugby ain't making money and NZRFU can't keep funding everything, Super Rugby is really just means to employ players, the NPC was once massive, look at it today, should they build a new one and forget Super, do they need squads of 40 on tours for 3 or 4 games.
Sky ain't gunna pay NZRFU as much when renewal for tv comes up, Sky is seems ain't paying for a lot of sport yet slowly increasing charges, they aint a charity but up till now have been a great benefactor for many sports.

Thjnk rugby is going to need a shakeup, the NZRFU simply can't sustain all these unions, they kind of make me laugh when always tinkering with super rugby, the old NPC comps were perfectly fine, but a lot of Heartland Unions might be best to merge under a guise of a larger union.
Cricket has only got 6 first class association as such but there is still regional comps as in Hawke Cup.
The next TV deal will be the defining moment in forcing change.

Personally I get the impression that a lot of the female teams, a lot are too clicky, must be hard for the coach in this situation, a male to make hard decisions and risking a player revolt, almost facing the same challenges as your average school teacher probably has to deal with everyday.
Seems to me that our Cricket psychology is about participating and not being defined solely by results.
Not sure if Riichard Hadlee, Glen Turner, Martin Crowe and the likes thought that way, I think many of our present lot both males and females do.

For All its worth I actually enjoyed the Cricket free to air, both the men's and the women's, would I have watched it on Spark, Sky, that's debatable but I suspect a significant number of watchers only watched as it was free, for the next 2 summers no International Cricket at home after January, our best time is Feb, March, playing before Xmas, people's focus is on other things, yet that's what we are getting.
India have a lot of influence and somewhere in the scheme of things everything has to fit around the IPL, sad but true.

Giving that Netball coach a damehood was a joke, but being a Maori must have been in her advantage, it's not like Netball is a major sport, yes winning as they did, it must be 5 years ago is a achievement but it's not the be all of everything.

Womens rugby have big plans too I note the Hurricanes lost well over a million in the last 12 months, guess the fems might need to alter their plans for more money, but will they ?
 

I watched the game, NZ are always behind the eight ball and yes the commentators appear sometimes seem to be watching a different game than we are, one thing I've noticed is the majority of runs are scored on the leg side, often from balls bowled outside off stump scored by batters who are outside the wide line, it is a bit different but still entertaining.
Speaking of women's sport what a croc of shit that the women want double rounds of Super rugby and full time contracts, who's gunna pay for it, maybe the NPC is to be sacrificed for womens rugby.

Dumb ideas, such as ? With free tv it is growing the audience, it's worked for Cricket, might just be for Rugby and league too with more free coverage too, if Entain could get Satellite freeview then they could ditch sky completely, even I would.
