  1. Thank you for thinking about us Miss J from your TAB desk. I assume you are in the marketing team, well done on your early advices …. A good promotion is due
  2. True Dave, the Aussies just have an appetite for racing and punting, we don’t these days. Riccarton would be level 2 or 3 in Aussie, it has simply lost its way … very very sad
  3. Just go onto Canterbury Jockey website and all info there. Trouble with Cup Day level 1 of members stand is packed out, ridiculously so. And now with no stand the public area is non existent. Last year was disastrous for them but a quick financial catch up will likely backfire. Not the easiest of times for CJC. Trotting Cup Day is $50 for GA, and now charging for Show Day which was once a gold coin. Troubled times to crowd the day out in these tough financial times.
  4. The $90 is entry plus stand entry level one at Riccarton. The Randwick GA is entry plus level 1 in the Winx Stand. They are a like for like comparison. Same same but very different I live in ChCh but frequently attend Randwick
  5. GA admission to Royal Randwick for Everest Day AU$40 GA admission to Riccarton Park for NZ Cup Day NZD $90. One is an absolute winner the other …. Well really
  6. Miss J, This is a blog, we have differing views, and we become educated, our own view must not always be correct or right Sometimes, if not always, best to stay on the sidewalk and let things unfold Tom, Acting Principal PS The Te Akau horse didn’t make The Everest, some mountains too hard to climb
  7. Yes it was a superb run Leggy, when watching my reaction was …. Holy hell, he didn’t deserve to win that. My interest now is to see how he backs up but to be fair he wasn’t walking, or acting, like a flattened horse during the post race interview
  8. Well said Alf, Go and watch Daniel Stackhouse on First Immortal in the Lexus last Sat at HQ. Awful draw but sat the horse just off midfield 3 and 4 wide the whole trip. Done by an outstanding ride by Willo who lead the whole way, beaten by a length. With any run FI would have won by 4. Stacks “crime” was he sat there and took no decision to go forward or back. The lack of decision was the bad ride. The draw always had FI 3 wide or 2 lengths last. No decision is a no ride. Turned FI race into a Tuesday track ride. Aussie websites ripping into Stack who easily won the Saturday Slaughter. I am happy as FI MC odds blown out, and this horse is a real chance as is the winner. Great quinella. Happens to the best but for gods sake do something, if it comes undone at least you had a go.
  9. Was very impressed with Future History today. Superb ride by Willo, very hard to lead all the way and win at Flemington over 2000 metres or beyond. Locked in as my MC pick, and will carry a lowish weight. Very impressive today and looks like a 2 miler
  10. So they simply read the Aussie odds, shave off 20% then post, I wanna be a local bookie …. easy job if you run the Aussie book
  11. Agree Alf, something about this decision that just doesn’t quite add up … I am lost by it frankly
  12. IT IS believed NOT bellieved Tom, Acting Principal
  13. Top sport is very cruel Dave. Agree, Brisbane could have been 2 up and in the AFL a bad call at the death went against them …. elite sport is cruel
  14. The idea is to keep the ball and game alive favouring the offended team. In union you seem to have 3 re sets, then a collapse then the standard free kick all of which takes 4 minutes …. In league we would have had a set of six in that time. League has invested in keeping the ball alive, Union should take notes
  15. See my emoji mate, had the magpie for years. Great game, was anyone’s to be fair My plunge landed, got 18s in March for the GF win
  16. Adams big loss Dave but we are going very well, strength across the oval
  17. Exactly, that is how this little circus rolls out .. it is a $ game
  18. Not ruling the Broncs out not at all but Panthers just seem to have more aces in the pack. Should be a great GF Collingwood in the AFL GF too
  19. Another slot available, clearly the tempt is on now or is the horse not up to that level Moir result will tell us and why cards are being played to maximise outcome
  20. Interesting proposal Phil, immediate thought is the team playing the 5th disadvantaged if tackled within 10. Novel idea worth further thought tho, has some benefits tho
  21. Gruff, the smash them tackle etc has level gone, there are several rules around this area and they are enforced for sure. The style of smashing tackles largely gone, but still a little way to go for sure. Penrith just win the final, easily in my view as just too many ace players across the park, will be a great free running fast movement game with the two best teams, by miles, reaching the GF
  22. Sadly I think rugby is not too dissimilar to the current netball fiasco with the game forsaken at club level and from grassroots to top level interest has fallen away. Not so League, as a local league club administrator the NZRL seek out our input regularly on all issues and they listen and react. A long term blue collar sport with very little corporate sponsorship surviving and growing at a steady rate. Our main objective over the next 5 years is to have league infiltrate high schools and great progress being made as the school kids of today exiting union in droves with soccer scoring big goals, but us leagueys making excellent progress. Rugby has significant issues at grassroots level
  23. Glad you enjoyed the game of League, great game with few rules other than the basics, plenty of movement, hard tackling and largely understood by viewers. Get along more next year and enjoy the skills on display
  24. No question Gruff the Panther and Broncos a level above, not only the Warriors but all teams. Both play superb free running league. Warriors have a couple of areas to hone up on and I think they will. Nothing too major as they have the players to attack and defend. 2024 should be another good season, but my pick is that 2025 or 2026 likely to be the big years. Tracking well tho imho
