Two big problems - I am not "one of them" but mainly I been around this game for hell knows how long and the callouses on the callouses on my head after so many bangs over time says surely it's time for younger ideas.

I don't know the wording of the lesser charge
I do know that NMcG didn't really want to plead guilty to even the lesser charge, but the costs of lawyers versus the penalty meant that any sane person had to bend over and take a small one up the %^&
It is not a fair system where you have to plead guilty just to avoid legal costs

Good on for going eljay....at the best times its close to 3 hours drive, each way , and inevitably accidents cause delays.Plus there are 20 major roadworks around Auckland City to get around before the real drive starts.
The holiday was in Auckland and thanks to rate payers like you there was a ton of things organised over the Anniversary weekend.....some cost to get in e.g. Music festivals but others were free. Many were 'family events'.Then there were the 'free' natural events like fishing ,sailing and swimming...I can tell you the beaches were packed ,and one in 3 households own a boat!
Those with money leftover or flush with back to school  commitments still had the Malls/Briscoes/Harvey Norman luring folk in.
Tauranga had stuff on as well and Hamilton had the 7's rugby.....Auckland had International cricket.
Even I could find 15 excuses not to undertake over 6 hours driving in a stuffy gas guzzling car...and I had a share in 3 horses racing !...especially after a good night at ATC Friday and a fab day at Ellerslie on Saturday.
Eljay you deserve a medal........Anniversary Day Monday would be ideal for a meeting at Avondale ,maybe a dual code day with markets open and family fun .
But already there's too much on in Auckland.
Let's ask people to drive to Rotorua ....didn't Rotorua Trots previously race on December 31st ? A week either side of New Year would make more sense !
    IMO

Really I wonder what I was doing since 5 this morning.conditioning jogging fast work  and swimming like every other trainer.the number of positive swabs are very  low.we ain't stupid.we know we will be caught so we don't do it. It's like robbing a bank and leaving your fingerprints.

No great surprise Lloyd......holiday period for most is finished ,back at work ,schools heading back.
Roads generally bad , Rotorua really not a 'harness' area and I guess little promotion done as meeting not a Summer Festival meeting.

Soul destroy g taking horses u know no chance.like with like yeah right.a trainer who has  had a couple of wins with average horse walked off the course saying never again.one of the greatest horseman ever said to me they trying to fuck the game and doing a good job. Who is who.lots of possibilities.
Is this what Alex park wants group horses killing shitters.a premiership winning trainer bailed me up .they forcing me out of the game.the handicapping system has to go.the 4 horse field  had an audience  of not many.saw one director Scott plant there.always is.some never come at all.sorry Derek balle was too.top men but the rest no sight of.didnt spot ceo either.bugger  me.this is serious shit

6 races 4k 2to 3 points for winner every 20 minutes.alex park Tuesday.whhy not. Alex park  would be the most underused track of its quality, location in the world.over 52 weeks prob 7 races a week..its nonsense.

Hunter the punter reacted to Mikie in Ratings system/Winners
In writing this firstly let me point out that I fully agree with Tim Vince as regards the current Ratings System
I don't care for it and the sheer number of changes, trials and tweaking merely confirm it isn't working
However, with any system at all be it the previous class system or a Ratings system, or a $ based system, no matter what the system is there will still be the same number of winners today as there was yesterday unless more races are run
If New Zealand runs 2000 harness events there are 2000 winners
Under one system Tim might win 100 races, Eljay 20, Herlihy 50, Green 70 and so on and on
Changing the system might mean that Eljay's previously average horses (in terms of wins) suddenly can drop down and race poorer horses and instead of 20 Eljay might win 60 races (great effort Eljay)
But someone else must then train 40 less winners, so they won't be happy!
It sounds pretty simple, but I think most posters don't get it
You can never keep everyone happy

Forget Tuesday - where are the horses and owners going to come from to battle Auckland traffic during the week for lesser stakes - they don't come now for the big dollars?
They should be racing there every Sunday during the day.

Well at least Tas there is no Pick 6 this week at Alex Park.     Last race would be a field leg I suppose.     Incidentally I believe this race is purposefully the last race on the cards because of all the shadows cast on the track by the sunlight on the light poles which, unlike Cambridge, cannot be lowered.
I suppose the next problem is going to be the sunlight reflecting off the glass windows on the new buildings but I suppose no one has thought of that yet until it actually happens.     That would be a new reason for stewards to abandon a meeting I suppose.       I see the Lone Star reckon they will be open in time for the Easter Show - they well may be but will they be able to trade as the chances of the rest of the sites being completed by then and the car parks etc. being ready I would think would be pie in the sky.      I reckon there will be some very worrying times coming up over the next few months.

Breeders Trump up their product. Tons of 2 year old racing in Aussie.maybe we don't have stallions that produce early speed. Maybe announce no 2 year old racing till March save owners a lot of money.

Interesting. The stakes are good in Auckland, but fields are small. Yet throughout the south, stakes are largely poor to ok, but fields are large. Am I missing something?

Probably a few years too late Lloyd. Spicer is an example of why harness is poorly governed and thus fails to reach its potential.

Is it time for a change of the clowns in the circus?     Haven't heard from Spicer for a while - does that mean he is on a full time expenses paid holiday or doing everything behind closed and locked doors?
