  1. Yes Winx I've also heard Aldridge is behind this thinking, therefore it's going no where good. Is he sackable or just another one of those in wellington that can do whatever to ruin NZ racing and never be held accountable? So many stupid decisions that have come out of wellington over the years his name seems very prominent ive heard
  2. if they wanted to destroy CD racing they are going about it the right way. Do they think owners are happy to pay 3k a month and not race? Maybe someone can correct me but I understand this thinking is from Tim Aldridge. if that's the case why aren't trainers kicking up a stink and trying to get rid of him? Where are the facts to back up reducing CD racing to that extent?
  3. Can some one tell me if the percentages to each code are going to be different going forward? Hasn't gallops been subsidising the dogs and trots because of how poorly the racing act was in 2003? I get the feeling RITA are happy to see 100 horses miss out on racing instead of putting on another meeting and having to pay out more stake money
  4. really does look like the final nail in the coffin for the racing industry. How does john allen get away with barely a mention in the press? he is mainly responsible for this mess
  5. I don't know much about harness racing but how could they get rid of Palmerston north ??
  6. $3 Million , easy , Awapuni (with partners) have a massive housing project on the go , it's been held up with the consent process but it will happen , currently they are appealing some of the conditions imposed on the project . Given the country's current financial issues developments like this are very much in favour , it will happen . Will be years before any houses are sold, the ceo is talking of starting straight away on the track. RACE last housing project failing was the reason they have been in so much debt since.
  7. If awapuni are still several million in debt where are they going to get the other 3 million for the track? haven't they been given 10 million but need 13 million? And Riccarton any better off financially to get the other 3 million?
  8. Any ideas how that might improve revenue. You improve your returns by either cutting costs or making more money. Why does it always have to be about increasing revenue? cutting costs is just as effective and reducing 60 million wage bill would be start along with the RIU. Increasing revenue? more control of the TAB and we might start pushing the racing product instead of sports betting. Outsourcing so we can give NZ racing more international exposure. Revenue will come from offshore betting markets or capturing nz punters that use overseas betting operators. NZ is only 5 million people who are not huge punters, Its stupid do keep pushing the idea we can keep increasing our revenue from little ol NZ. Other key of messara report is to stop political appointment's we cannot have the john allens glenda hughes types etc making decisions.people with no racing or wagering experience
  9. The hospitality situation is dire...that’s certainly true.......but we know it and we have the intellect and the resources to react and turn this setback into an “opportunity”. Sadly racing lacks the vision to do the same . My pity goes out to the hard working licensees primarily, and secondly to the owners and the punters.....as always they’ll be left to carry the burden and pick up the pieces . One thing won’t change though Stables......racing is broken....and I can’t see how it’ll fix itself Feel free to articulate your vision and plans for prosperity though, I’m always keen to listen to an expert Wouldn't implementing the messara report be a good start?
  10. I thought waiting until July was too long - you seem to have ignored the many horses that were just back in the early stages of getting ready for a Winter season when the lockdown shut the training tracks - another 9 weeks wait for them? These horses had a spell over Summer and another spell starting in April was problematic so they have been kept in light work away from track work. Kept in light work where? Horses have been spelling for 5 weeks in a paddock. thats not light work. I cant believe the trainers association have agreed to this, it should be up to the trainer if there horse is fit enough to race. If that's the rule what happens if a trainer tells a jockey to give it a quite one? jockey gets hauled in front of stipes asking why they weren't more aggressive....
  11. Andrew brown 970k he bought his mate peter simone 700k also another mate dave rodden 530k sounds familiar with john allen bringing his nz post mates with him...When will this stop if ever?! this was 2011
  12. Interesting reading that training in nz can return when we go back to level 3 and there is confirmation from RITA there is money for stakes....(from trainers association) Anyone know if there is a possibility that there will be no money for stakes hence no more racing industry? On a side note have staff at the TAB taking pay cuts like Raelene castle did ??
  13. He was CEO at Wellington and Addington so well versed in Racing matters I would have thought. You would think so wouldn't you, Yet he is ignoring the messara report and pretty much the entire racing industry on how this industry should look going forward
  14. It didn't register with me that McKenzie majored in Sport in USA. Thats quite vital information. On here the greatest cheerleader for McKenzie was P4P as he was for Michael Stiassny and Typhoon, John Allen and FOB (OpenBet) collectively thats quite a CV. Is that true p4p? You were in favour of typhoon and open bet? Interesting point about mackenze, maybe his aim is for TAB to be mainly about sport and that is we here his loyalty really lies.... CEO of a mainly sports organisation for future promotion somewhere overseas...
  15. When a new captain of any large business comes in,what is the first thing they ruthlessly slash into before the next financial year/shareholders meeting? Reductions in out goings! So why not here?Or is this just gravy the train? Exactly! why has this never happened with racing? only reason I can think of is political appointments, they get the job as long as no one gets the sack....
  16. I cant believe this hasn't generated more discussion on here.. someone finally come up with some evidence who owns the tab and they been looking for a while... especially tau henere Surely this gives racing and trots control over what happens even if the tab is broke. Someone like p4p who clearly is a intelligent guy can see the DIA and political appointments is the main reason why the industry is screwed The messara report implemented was the path to stop this and yet McKenzie vela etc don't want this to happen?? Why isn't someone like david ellis with his media profile not speaking out in support for the messara report more vocally?
  17. P4p 2 questions for you... Should racing keep there IP or tab own it? Should tab be outsourced to TABCORP for instance and whole lot of gravytrainers lose there jobs at wellington?
  18. Will we look back in 50 years maybe 100 years as this the man who destroyed the once great industry of horse racing? He continues to ignore the messara report and the will of the racing industry who want it implemented what's he getting out of it? a 500k a year job for life? The current state of the TAB is even more reason for its out sourcing yet he disagrees
  19. Mate you are absolutely clueless.covid is airbourne? share everyone a link to that would you ,you are talking nonsense
  20. trying to be positive racing has a chance here...no sport to bet on anywhere and a lot of people at home with nothing to do. Big risk though if any jockeys get this we will be shut down, then what??? For a lot of people barely hanging on out there, will be the final nail in the coffin,If racing gets shut down for 6 months what will happen with staff track riders etc? NZTR should be treating jockeys like kings and queens because if they get sick and have to self isolate we will be screwed
  21. thanks The one that had a lot of questions for john messara doesn't appear on that list. Has anyone watched the video of the submissions and any thoughts?
  22. Can someone please tell me the role of the select committee and who is on it? How much of a influence will they have on what we end up with the racing bill
  23. So this delay means race's partnership with provincial growth fund is at risk? Where is NZTR in this, have they got nothing to do with this partnership?
  24. Does anyone know what happening with that? I read a recent comment by alasdair robertson that the provincial growth are funding part of it
  25. that's a great thread I still cant work out if you are taking the piss or are actually crazy...if you are serious would it be a good idea if all the horses are ridden to the races to save emissions? those floats are surely contributing to the bushfires! And what about you are you going to bike to trenthem to save your carbon footprint?
