Thanks all for the competition. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Good luck to those who are still left in.

You are correct in the dream of winning big is a draw card but in reality if you can break even your a genius. The social aspects of racing can't be taken to lightly and that's where the clubs need to step up, owner nights and owner privileges. Methven via the Canterbury Trotting Owners Association now hosts a BBQ after race eight at all their meetings for owners, trainers, sponsors and stablehands . Unfortunately the current funding model leaves exactly zero for clubs to promote or market such events,  hopefully Brad will see such initiatives and get on board. 

If it was simply stakes, Auckland would have full fields! 
If we want to keep and grow ownership, everyone (HRNZ, clubs, trainers, breeders and existing owners) must work together. What do I feel would work to keep me in the game? We want to be treated fairly by the system (handicapping, breeding incentives etc.). Clubs need to make all owners feel special (I enjoy mixing with other owners pre-race at Auckland). Trainers need to communicate well (we've been fortunate in this aspect). And depending on our individual abilities , we owners should put something back into the game, It could be as simple as asking friends or family along to see your horse race.
Under current economic conditions, I feel well run syndicates are the way to go to attract new owners - shared costs and  greater social opportunities.

Good luck to those still in the running.  I'm away for much of Saturday so final results might be later on Saturday or early Sunday.  I'm sure those of you in contention will be able to figure out the results as the races play out.

All are waiting for Tarantula to enter the building , bring it on Tarantula , show us what you have .

TAKESHI  (M McNab) - Clipped a heel and badly blundered passing the 300 metres dislodging its rider before shifting
outwards abruptly making firm contact with DON’T LOOK ETHEL with Apprentice J Nishizuka being dislodged. Also
severely hampered as a result was HIT THE SWITCH. Rider M McNab was attended to by the oncourse Doctor and
stood down from his remaining ride being transported to hospital for further observation. M McNab was advised that
he would be required to provide a medical clearance to Stewards prior to riding next. Underwent a post-race
veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormality.

Week 8 results
This week we lost Jayar, Scooby, Right First Time and Floyd Pink.  16 left with two weeks to run.  Foxmerts and Chestnut closing on the leader.
Those yet to use a Joker need to take note of the rule that you can only play one Joker per week.
Kilcoyne and Ponderosa had a late scratching today so have the option of adding a third pick next week.

Many congratulations to her, a very good effort, given its a tough game to succeed in, but probably not surprising given her name, synonymous with much success over the years, and its certainly in the genetics, but even then the hard yards still to be done.

300 driving wins make that 301 now for the young lady. Well done her. Should get more drives . Never knocks them around. P.G senior would be very proud of her.
