    Great riding at New Plymouth Sam 😊 A real stalwart of our racing scene, that makes her sound old, which she clearly isn't. But appears to have been around forever, been through some rough times, but has always come back as good as ever. Just love her attitude, and that awesome smile. Hope she stays within the industry for many years, her personality is perfect for a role on Trackside or better, Maybe the CEO of NZ racing.

    I noticed that there was no one there to represent her. Usually, her father Gerard does, the most honest man in harness, straight as an arrow like his legend father the straightest trainer in the west Patrick O'Reilly, King of Highbank. Stewards have always had it in for the family. Straightest and most honourable faimily in Australasian harness. O'Reilly. Patrick junior, one of the best trainers and drivers ever in NZ, Kerry O'Reilly, like his niece he was a top junior driver and one of the best drivers in the country until the Norton incident, fe drives after that and who can blame him. Leo O'Reilly, not as gifted driver like rest of famly, but still good horseman; Gerard O'Reilly the most underrated driver in Australasia. Sarah best since Dexter. Honest the lot of them. 
    Anyway, young Sarah is a quiet, reserved young woman and not match for the stipes out to get her, She took it on the chin.

    If she had been driving a favoured runner fair enough to say it was a poor drive. But surely when you are driving a horse that’s going to need all favours just to place, drivers should be able to adopt appropriate tactics without fear of suspension.   In this case she was following the fav and it was reasonable to hope he would carry her into the finish.   If the fav had run on as expected she could have run top 3 and it would have been seen as a great drive.  Only thing she did wrong IMO was to plead guilty to the charge.

    How could they have not known before today this could not go ahead 33mm of rain during the week I was told Friday that it would not be possible to race, but here again owners jockeys trainers all shafted with expenses that were never necessary to be spent...same shit from incompetent people time after time. There will be no tracks left soon..useless as tits on a man....JMO Oh and dont say they could not control the weather...it should have been called off two days ago so nobody was out of pocket.

    For those who are interested here are the points earned in Week 2.  
    Toddy, who missed week 1 and started today with a 50 point handicap had a cracking day with a Joker play on Inundation ($1.50).
    At the other extreme Rooster with 2 winners from 3 picks including a Joker play on the impressive winner Uncommon James.
    Cubes had an interesting day - 3 picks, -100 points from a Joker play on a winner and 5 points from his other two runners - one of them at a win price of $124 for a 0.81 point haul.

    Hastings Race 6 - Hacksaw Ridge.
    Figure that if Cross Roads wins, I'll have the distinction of being the first person Eliminated, and if it Loses I'll get Double points....so I'll be a "Winner" either way!!!

    I thought I had it in the bag, but thats what makes racing so much fun.
    BIG CONGRATS to Shane & Amy for their wonderful win with Sanibel yesterday.  I too had written her off when she was being hard ridden before the turn.  To Kate Hercock's credit she didnt give up and kept her going.  Not only is the jockey under-rated but the trainer and stable is too.  You wont see stable connections arriving on-course in helicopters or at Karaka buying million dollar yearlings, but what you will see are honest hard working people who care dearly about their horses.
    Looking forward to seeing the stables spring charges and more success for the team

    Still 40 minutes until closing time, but 45 entries in so far - I'm pretty happy with that.  Thought we might be down a few given the extra effort required to enter.  Thanks all for sticking with us.   Interesting to see the different strategies adopted.  The chart below plots the number of runners purchased by the 45 entrants.  Quite a range from as low as 6 runners to the top of 23.   Average and median around 11 runners.   Good luck all.

    Final results 
    Table below includes confirmed results from all 12 races.  9 out of 49 entrants completed filled out their card, and Archer was the first to do this (after 8 races) so takes the win.  Another 24 entrants were all but.
    11+ filled out by all 49 entrants - multiple times by most, while 8th & 9th proved the most elusive.
    Thanks all for giving it a try.

    Pick 2 horses in each of the 12 races listed below.
    The objective is to fill out your Bingo card.    You need at least one of your 24 runners to finish in each of these positions:  1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11+     First person to fill out all 11 spots on their bingo card wins.  
    You also get one free slot of your own choosing - when you submit your picks you will choose one position that you get to mark off before we even start.  eg.  if you struggle to pick a winner you might choose "1" as your free slot.
    Slightly different scratching rule - scratchings will be replaced by #1, then #2, then #3, ......
    Please note early start on Saturday - closing time for entries is 11.15am  (start time of first race).
    Races are as follows - starting with a couple of big maiden fields at Ruakaka.
    Prize $100 each way bet on a horse of the winners choosing split 50/50 as normal.
