tripple alliance got a reaction from dock leaf in National makes promises for $1.6b racing industry, including tax review
Simply not true , google it . Anyway how is this going to work,  National is promising to repeal the Resource Management Act and replace it with legislation that enables better utilisation of existing racing assets and to support the industry to upgrade the country's racing infrastructure , comrade cindy has after all these years  also promised to look at the resource management act BUT how will that be possible when they are in coalition with the greens who won't budge on this issue , it seems to me instead of winston controlling cindy it will be the greens .
National is also promising to conduct a review of the tax treatment and depreciation rules around bloodstock and the racing sector to ensure they are fit for purpose.
Shaw says the Greens aren't making the tax a bottom line because "when we get into negotiations we have got to see what the result of the election is. And it's as simple as that". Whether or not it becomes a bottom line depends on how many people vote for the Greens, Shaw says.
So tax WILL  become a bottom line if the greens get enough support , imagine paying a capitol gains tax on the yearling a hobby owner bought , proved it , sold it and then had to pay a capitol gains tax , that will happen if the greens get half a chance ..

Another green / labour f up . Here we go again incredible stupidity , this is just the same as California , Australia and now NZ , it's early spring , snow on the hills .
The Lake Ōhau fire could have been avoided if the Department of Conservation (DOC) managed high country land better, farmers say.
But DOC says fireproofing conservation land is “largely unachievable”. In a statement, Federated Farmers high country chair Rob Stokes said it was not even fire season and already nearly 50 homes and more than 5000 hectares of land had been damaged since fire erupted at Lake Ōhau, .
"In August we had the Pukaki Downs fires, also burning through DOC land, and now just weeks later another fire, again burning through DOC land. Both these fires were entirely avoidable.
Grazing in those areas had previously reduced the fire risk significantly by controlling wilding pines and grasses, he said. "There is simply no science to support destocking. Now people have lost their homes because of mismanagement by DOC."
In a statement, DOC operations manager Karina Morrow said allowing grazing on public conservation land would have “a significant negative impact on the native species”.
WELL THE FIRE CERTAINLY WILL HAVE HAD A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON NATIVE SPECIES , human native species as well .
DO you really want the greens to be a dominator/controller of labour in government , a disaster in the making .

I think much has changed since this poll , Judith is flying and producing good policy , cindy is no match for her in debates or on detail and for good measure the prospect of labour GREENS will scare the crap out of people and they will go to Act or National .
If you are a racing supporter and you know a vote for 1% winston is a wasted vote and you know a vote for cindy and the greens is suicide for racing why would you vote for them  especially when National has made a very promising racing policy announcement  ,  the next poll will be interesting .

Excellent point Berri , (If Winnie is gone, let me tell you we are up the creek without a paddle IF Labour/ Greens get in.) Winne will be gone his last hope is Northland and even there he is polling very badly so what then for racing under a labour/green government  . Latest polls suggest labour will need the greens to govern , can any of you seriously believe the greens will do anything to help racing .
McKelvie has racing in his blood .

Don't take this National offer lightly. I met with Ian some months ago to discuss racing policy. It was a very enlightening session and I fully believe that they're going to get behind racing. They realise they dropped the ball with that absolute moron in Nathan Guy and realise that this industry needs a shot in the arm shoulder and leg. Judith is after all from Walton and has been seeing racing type people for most of her life. I like Ian and I think we have a chance.
If Winnie is gone, let me tell you we are up the creek without a paddle IF Labour/ Greens get in. We all fought like cats and dogs over the Racing Bill. I did my bit and that is why I met with Ian and what's his name Bayley. I can categorically tell you that the real issue we had over the Bill was with Labour and the Greens' representatives. They were blocking and diluting everything. The Greens want to close racing down!!! they think it's cruel to horses. Labour doesn't want to promote gambling because they think it's bad for society.
Everyone has to get off their chuffs IF you want to help racing. Seymour is sympathetic but doesn't know enough, although I've given him some thoughts on the matter as well. So IF you don't give a toss about anything else but racing, vote ACT and/ or National. Otherwise you will see a further demise of your sport. This is very very obvious if you were part of and saw the Bill evolve.

National is promising to repeal the Resource Management Act and replace it with legislation that enables better utilisation of existing racing assets and to support the industry to upgrade the country's racing infrastructure. VERY IMPORTANT .
It also wants racing events to be able to feature as part of its planned New Zealand Tourism Festival, which was announced yesterday. GREAT WHEN THINGS GET BACK TO NORMAL the Chinese's tourists will be directed to a days racing and punting .
The party has already proposed a primary sector visa, but it also wants to include the racing industry to enable access to international jockeys, stallion managers, stud staff and other industry personnel. THAT'S A WINNER , track riders are like hens teeth , get them in .
Once again National policy that's real and workable , perhaps racing has turned a corner and with extra support it might go well ,  the fields have certainly  held up well  , don't know about the profitability , time will tell .

The National Party is promising a raft of proposals to support the racing industry if elected, including a review of how parts of the industry are taxed.
Leader Judith Collins made the announcement while visiting the Hawke's Bay Racing Centre in Hastings.
Collins said the racing industry employs more than 15,000 people directly and supports close to 60,000 indirect jobs.
"Racing contributes in excess of $1.6 billion a year to our economy and will be an important part of rebuilding our economy," she said.

It is also promising to conduct a review of the tax treatment and depreciation rules around bloodstock and the racing sector to ensure they are fit for purpose.
    This review will specifically consider:
Making the first three years of a new stallions servicing fees tax-exempt, to encourage investment in new, high-quality stallions.
Options around the carry-over of expenses of fillies as they enter the breeding industry.
Consistent treatment of proportionate shareholdings so owners can claim the individual share of GST and depreciation expenses.
The policy also states the party would partner with the TAB, NZ On Air and the racing sector to explore options to promote New Zealand racing and breeding and recommence Trackside Radio.
National's racing spokesperson Ian McKelvie said there is no reason why New Zealand's racing industry cannot compete internationally and be recognised as world-class.
"We have the best breeders, the best trainers, the best strappers, the best jockeys and the best supporters in the world.
"We want to ensure they're operating in an industry that can set them up for success on the world stage," he said.

Don't know what this has to do with cindy but I do know Glaxo Laboratories  operated in Palmerston North about 25/30 years ago and I  think they were  owned at that time by by a multinational .
    Glaxo Laboratories site, Botannical Road
The building under construction in Botanical Road was a new warehouse for Glaxo Laboratories, to be used for bulk storage. The Glaxo company was established in 1873 when J C Nathan started a small milk powder plant at Bunnythorpe, trading under the name Defiance. In 1908 the firm, using the trade name of Glaxo, introduced new baby food into the NZ and British markets. Glaxo went on to become an internationally recognised food and pharmaceutical producer. In 1950 new offices, laboratories and a pharmaceutical production factory were built in Botannical Road. Glaxo closed its operations in Palmerston North in 1995, and the buildings sold.

I'm struggling mentally to keep up my small commitment , 10%  , the winner of a 10k race gets a little over 5K so owners get around 4.4K that will cover about 6 weeks of fees if you are lucky , why bother ??? . I realise it's not all about money but just burning your money on a hopeless venture is concerning .

An adolescents and young adults (AYA) unit for people aged 12-25 years-old will sit empty when the new Christchurch Hospital Hagley building opens later this year due to "financial constraints”, Canterbury District Health Board acting chief executive Peter Bramley said. Paediatric oncologist Tristan Pettit said research showed treating people aged 15-24 in age-appropriate environments was significant for patient experience and survival rates.

Sigh – Jacinda wades into free speech debate – this will end badly
ACT leader David Seymour fears for freedom of expression after Jacinda Ardern confirmed plans to beef up hate speech laws if Labour is re-elected to power.
Ardern was asked at the site about progress on updated hate speech laws, after the Government fast-tracked a review of hate speech legislation in the wake of the terror attack, which was fuelled by anti-Muslim sentiment.  Ardern said she couldn’t understand why there would be resistance from other political parties.     “I don’t see why there should be, and so that’s probably a question for every political party, but that’s certainly our view and that’s the view that I’m putting forward.”

The Left should champion free speech – not repress and deplatform it!
Jacinda feels that no one would have a problem with expanding hate speech laws to include religion – really?
I love mocking religion, if you believe in a magical invisible flying wizard, I get to mock that because it’s fucking stupid!!!
Would I breach the hate speech laws for mocking someone who believes in a magical invisible flying wizard?
Would Monty Python’s Life of Brian be banned?
Why can’t I hate religion? Why can’t I see it as a terribly regressive form of control over other people?
Can I criticise the fanatics at Gloriavale or is that going to be illegal?

The result of the first debate and the opinion of the majority was Judith WON EASILY  that's not just my opinion . I was expecting cindy to just smile  be kind and win and I'm sure that's what she was expecting but it seems when it comes to detail and policy she is bereft knowledge and ideas .
Covid is the only reason she is up in the polls , it's certainly not because she has improved peoples lives , in fact the opposite has happened .
The 2nd debate will be crucial for both , another performance like that from cindy and the rot will well and truly set in , she will be under enormous  pressure  , let's see what happens .

Wrong Uriah I  have no problem with tribal hierarchy the problem lies at the feet of the labour government that established the gravy train , it was established with a socialist agenda an agenda that has entrenched a poor future for those on the bottom rung  and provided an excellent income for those on the top of the heap .
In 50 years time those who have gained no benefit from settlements will still be less well of if they are counting on settlements to improve their lives , this gravy train has been in action for 30 odd years and those on the bottom rung are worse off today than ever before . The labour socialist designed treaty settlement plan is a failure for most even though 100s of millions have been paid out to tribes and lawyers .
