  1. Shodsie obviously you don't know many punters and thank God you don't work for the TAB as there are enough marketing and management already there clueless like you on what punters need and except to receive from a betting organisation. I have had at least a dozen long time punting mates go off about the new site and what a total disaster it is and only a couple normally moan when things go wrong for them. A few are elderly people and a couple said the same thing "phonebet gone, Trackside free to air gone and now a betting site they can comfortably use gone ' so you know what they said they are 'gone'. One said after 50 years of punting the TAB has cured him. I told them to open an account overseas but they said lost interest and have had enough. That's a few past loyal customers with years of punting gone, they don't get replaced. As for saying 'happy punting' that's the best sarcastic comment I have read or heard yet.
  2. I used it this week because the TAB told me it's 'better form'. Rdytdy your telling me its worse now and yet the TAB told me its better now unfortunately it appears that even though your not working for the NZ TAB you have a better grasp of the true situation. . The streaming is 6 seconds behind Trackside when before it was 1 second, quality is better though. Take a bow John Allen is apparently a new Tui advert
  3. I bet a total of just over $400 Monday to Thursday last week, this week for the same period $0.00 bet as layout of form to find a few bets is hopeless. Thankfully Best Bets and Informant are out now so I can use them but as for betting Monday - Thursday lost me until form on race runners and layout to find it improves. So annoying that 50 million gets spent of Industry money and those in charge had and still have no idea of what is required. Sack the top management including your marketing, social media team and anyone who was in charge of the disaster. The marketing and social media raves about how good the new platform is and that shows them up for their total lack of the gambling business and customer needs. The positive factor out of it all is that Peters wanted to clean the place out so at least now he has a platform to more than fully justifying that much needed action. Nothing less than that would happen with any Corporate Company who has shareholders that they are held accountable to.
  4. Good to see that has now changed and the days race meetings menu stays and isn't replaced with sporting codes. They do need to do something about the opening odds and fluctuations from opening time the day before and 9:00am raceday when scratchings and not large bets has resulted in odds changing. The race market below shows what the opening odds were on opening yesterday since then 3 scratchings so the opening odds shown represents a market at 96% and the odds now are a market at 125%. The fluctuations need to factor in the deductions from the scrachtings as most punters will see big changes in the odds and think they are due to large bets when in fact its won't be when scratchings are removed raceday morning.
  5. Looks as though they made it to the 2nd stage of Typhoon from what I have seen. Seriously the NZRB should be embarrassed with what they have developed to date and should be asking for a refund on the 50 million of Industry money spent 'so far'. John Allen if you're praising the success of it you are one poor deluded individual. Acknowledge the failures that you customers are saying the site has delivered and put it right. Nothing wrong with negative publicity as long as you acknowledge that certain areas need addressing. Looking at the site from my point of view techies designed it along with clueless management with no punting knowledge or customer requirements. I would rate it 3/10 and that's hard to justify. As for that condescending tweet get me a bucket please, the heads not in the sand its somewhere else.
  6. Should have put an image up of Typhoon
  7. I had to go through all the races at Reefton & Matamata to get the scratchings which was 16 clicks to do the job that previously took just 1. All the individual race scratchings are at the bottom of the race so you write the scratchings down then have to scroll up the page 16 times to get to the next race, wouldn't it make sense to also include the race menu at the top of each race also at the bottom so you don't have to continually scroll up to go to the next race. Surely I just can't locate where the meetings scratchings tab is can anyone direct me as I can't get through to Help Desk. Another annoying thing is on the racing page with the meetings I go and click on Matamata and then when i finish taking them down and want to do Reeftons the racing menu has disappeared and is replaced with sporting options??? 50 million spent to as we were told be a better punting experience is far far from it. Spend a few hundred and for christ sake if its not there create a tab with all the days scratchings on the one page. Old story why change something if its not broken. I agree with Thad on one thing John Allen take a bow and apologise to the Industry
  8. Same sentiments from John Allen when he started, say no more. At least he is taking the piss, the silence will be deafening in there as no sounds of bets getting processed.
  9. The first thing that should come up on the www.tab.co.nz web page the next racing betting option with the field but what do you see sports games to bet on. The NZ racing industry is paying for the betting platform and all the past and future associated costs that generates revenue to the sporting codes. The NZ Racing Boards platform is there to first and foremost fund the NZ racing Industry. Even the web site tab comes up TAB Sport. The thousands of more betting options available now will be utilised by sporting betting, the new Betting Platform the Industry was told would bring in millions more money, it may well do but sports codes receive a % of profit and turnover so who will ultimately benefit?. Your race field sizes are going down every season which will result in decreased turnover but a sports game will forever start with a full field.
  10. Racing: TAB probes crash as punters fume 21 Sep, 2016 The greatest concern is that the system problems rear their heads on the biggest days. Photo / 123RF NZ Herald There is good and bad news for punters furious over the TAB's website crash on the biggest day of the season so far. The good news is the TAB is committed to improving their online betting capacity as it becomes the platform more than 50 per cent of customers use. The bad news is the system crash which left punters struggling to get late Pick6 bets on could well have come down to simple overloading, which obvd by crashes in recent years. While the problems are understandable with so much betting traffic heading online, the reality is punters don't care about the TAB's problems, they simply want to get their bets on. The Pick6 was guaranteed to $300,000 on Saturday and blew past $700,000 but one can only wonder what it would have reached without the website problems. And disgruntled punters will also point to the end of the phonebet service which for many has compounded the problem, with only the very brave or experienced likely to even attempt taking a Pick6 using TouchTone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 years later and the only thing that has changed is NZRB staffing (bar phonebet) and salaries have got bigger not the system to handle betting.
  11. Midget they are totally INCOMPETENT. About 5pm, the TAB said on Twitter: "Customers may experience some slowness when using our mobile app at the moment - everyone is trying to get their bets on!" Hello it's the Melbourne Cup of course everyone is trying to get their bets on, most punter's leave putting their bets on until late when they are going to pubs or clubs to watch and bet, the track was heavy so astute punters would have waited until late in case of track upgrades and the tipsters on television drive late betting with updated information. This slowness or complete breakdown happens nearly every year so why wait until nearly start time to tweet that there might be slowness in placing your bets, start at 9:00am raceday and keep re-posting every hour 'please endeavour to place your bets early as possible as our system may experience some slowness'. A few minutes out and you post a message like that it's laughable. It would be like Hitler's General at the Battle Of The Bulge advising his Panza division to leave base & combat the US after his troops have been getting pummeled for hours. Luckily the people who put out these joke twitter messages are only on minimum wages because that's all they deserve.

  13. The advance to the Industry is totally due to the poor performance of the NZRB management over the last few years and especially the last 2 years. The 10.6 million doesn't equate well to the overdraft of what it cost to prop stake money up and the race field fee wouldn't go close to covering it, its simple mathematics not rocket science. There is a good reason why Winston stopped the racefield legislation fee which should have been obvious to management. The TAB and NZRB have never been the same quite obviously as in name but the reason for their establishment is the same and that is to return the best possible financial return to the NZ Racing Industry and I think for that reason not eventuating as it should be you will find very soon there may well be a few people going somewhere once the true financial situation and other facts are fully known. Watch this space.
  14. Net profit might be up 1.9 million but wonder how much the NZRB owe the bank now compared to 12 months ago. Just another typical spin doctoring of accounts by the CEO who is only hanging in there to collect his over exuberant salary. NZRB only tell the Industry what they want to hear not what they should be hearing. When the true facts become transparent it might be far worse than most would imagine. Once upon a time the TAB (now NZRB) worked for the Industry but sadly how times have changed. Just a little bit farcical using the word 'investment' after we have seen proven so often in the past with so called management 'strategic' initiatives becoming a 'liability' eg Typhoon & 20 million plus squandered. How much is the Betting Platform costing and what is the arrangement with Paddy Power ? The Industry doesn't know because supposedly it's sensitive information yet the Industry is paying and it will ultimately determine the future of it. Initial cost 28-30 million yet months late on implementing means millions more in costs so what are the true costs? A black hole is space would be more transparent that the NZRB. Remember there are two costs the Betting Platform and the cost of Paddy Power two completely different identities. Ummm hello the NZRB is already outsourcing at an extra cost to the Industry of millions over a 5 year partnership with Paddy Power (mentioned overseas) which is the same deal they did with France. France had no experience in sports betting that's why they got Paddy Power involved yet the NZRB has had 30 years ?? A yearly fixed fee plus % of profit one would expect. Go with TAB Corp and the the Industry will be paying out on what is left of the partnership agreement. Who in business ties up their company for a new deal of 5 years most do it for 12 month to 2 years maximum. There is only winner out of the Paddy Power partnership, do you think the management care more about the NZ Racing Industry than a better return for their shareholders (no doubt senior management hold untold shares in their company). The moment the Minister requested a full report on the state of the Industry including the NZRB the Betting Platform should have been put on hold as it's future will be determined by what comes from the report. Be interesting to know exactly what Paddy Power are been used for trading wise. The NZRB is using Paddy Power management to manage the product, yet the NZ Industry has invested tens of millions over the years on managers to improve their experience, knowledge and ability for a better return overall. No doubt the Paddy Power partnership will ensure that management numbers in the NZRB is dramatically reduced as their roles should become surplus to requirements .
  15. Programming a maiden race for the last leg of a Saturday quaddie doesn't make good sense, i want to bet into the last leg of a quaddie on a Saturday with some exposed form. Not a smart move on behalf of the majority of punters I would think.
  16. proof read subject line spelling on e-mails before sending out. Three spelling mistakes in a limited number (20) of words is embarrassing and a joke. Mind you I understand that they could easily spell a racing venue wrong when 80% of the people working at the NZRB didn't even know it existed before they started working there and 70% still don't.
  17. a dead horse betting market with US racing. 30 races today with pools closing like the one below. Who in their right mind is going to bet into quinella and tri pools like the closing one below. You tried it it's not returning to the industry once you deduct costs to cover it so do what any Company would do and drop it. A very desperate move to increase turnover (not profit) can be the only reason they haven't dropped it. More product doesn't mean increased profit one day they might work that out. Win pool: $127 Place pool: $82 Quinella pool: $53 Trifecta pool: $73
  18. and it doesn't have anything to do with race field fees. A lot of things in the racing Industry would be a surprise to the CEO unfortunately and as for not understanding you don't have to explain yourself most know why you have trouble like that with matters pertaining to the Racing Industry. Its not hard to work out why the Legislation was pulled in its current form if you think about it. You made one bad mistake you listened to advice from the wrong people and that's been your problem from early on. "I did not know that before (Peters) said it," said Allen in response to a question from the floor. "It is a surprise and a disappointment. We've been waiting now for a year for that. That legislation has been in front of Parliament for that period of time."And while I understood the minister's enthusiasm to do a whole lot of other things, I simply can't understand why that legislation hasn't progressed to being passed and put in place. It would benefit us by about a million dollars a month. You are quoted saying the CFO will have to revise his figures now, he should be an expert at doing that now having to revise the cost of the betting platform every month. "It's a surprise, it's a disappointment, and I don't doubt Shaun Brooks here, our CFO, is now thinking about our targets for this year because obviously we are not going to see any race fields money for this period." We are not seeing any money from the betting platform that was supposed to be up and running Aug 1 so 5 months of extra cost and 5 months of no additional income generated from it. How about showing us your revised figures from that. The Racing Minister doesn't communicate with you and he has a report done on the state of the Industry and the Racing Boards structure and performance. Maybe you couldn't see the race fee legislation getting pulled but surely you can see whats going to get pulled very soon.
  19. The 5 year deal with Sky TV is up next April (no not April the 1st) and word is its back to Free To Air. It should have always been Free To Air but no doubt some bean counter knew more than what their customers really wanted. Now try and get back the lost customers that the change resulted in. TAB executive general manager Glenn Patrick said the organisation planned to revamp its coverage so it could show about 5000 more races, as well as magazine-style features."At the end of the day, this is not a money grab by the TAB," he said. "It's about giving customers what they want". At least this guy is since well gone as he obviously had no idea.
  20. Toblerone there does seem to be a match with your 'name = The Shark' identity as both Nick Tedeschi and Glen Saville worked at Tom Waterhouse together at the same time so just another job for an Aussie mate.
  21. I would take it all day the under's but they are not going to pay me out, they would refund as they would say it was an input error. Strangely enough that's double standards as if i make a mistake eg put on $440 instead of $40 and try to get it refunded before the start I can't as they say 'check your ticket' well how about checking your options before selling them. How do they make cock ups like that - 'lights out no ones home'.
  22. I mean come on how stupid can someone be to input these 2 selections? This is two days in a row where glaring obvious inputing mistakes have been made. Train some new monkeys as these ones have no interest in their job or don't have the necessary IQ.
  23. proves why a new Betting Platform is needed. How could someone put in selections like this when working in a sports betting organisation. Surely firstly you check the names against the odds you have inputed to ensure its not another Hingis benefit for the staff. We are talking data entry how hard is it? Suppose at least they know the fist two letters of the alphabet even if they are clueless on sports betting option selections.
