Do you sometimes think CBT May just be winding you up. It looks like it to me
there used to be a bloke on here called Pogo. An Ozi. Always taking the piss out of Kiwis. It was all a gee up . He loves us. Every time I saw someone rising to the bait I used to think “ don’t do it. That’s what he wants

Fark that Ted!  I've had enough after 100m! From memory my best was a 12.flat and a 12.6.
When I couldn't keep up on the flat. I made it to the Waikato Champs for 100m Hurdles.
I ran 3rd in my heat... falling after the last on the flat (what a farkwit) ran 17.something... which wasn't fast enough to qualify me for the final.
My training regime was no exercise, much beer & many cigarettes!
Haven't changed a thing and this has made me the champion I am today.....just like CBT

First race tonight on day 3 of Craven meeting at Newmarket is the Alex Scott Maiden Stakes. If you don't know the story about Alex Scott it's a sad tale  with a twist at end . He was a real up and coming young trainer from a military family . He trained Sheik Albadou  at Newmarket   , sent him to Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs in 91 and beat yanks at own game in Breeders Cup Sprint in days it was only  one day and Sprint on dirt was only option for sprinter at meet . He trained a few other top liners too. He started to train for Maktoums and in August 1994 sent an unraced 2 year old to Newbury for a conditions  race that  normally was quite hot , It won . In September 1994 Alex Scott was murdered ,  shot dead by one of his grooms at his famiy owned stud farm .
The horse that won that Newbury race went to Saeed Bin Suroor who was starting out his  UK training career. It only raced three more times , won Epsom Derby in race record time  , King George at Ascot and the  Arc , the mighty Lammtara.
2nd race tonight has Well of Wisdom kicking off ,a half brother to  Avilius trained by Charlie Appleby .

Nice one Ted! I’ve only ever ran 2 half marathons (I could never run beyond 10km in training because of my left knee). My best time was just over 1:28 in the Melbourne half marathon. Would love to try and crack 3 for the full in October but not sure if my knee will hold up unfortunately. Sub 2:30 is fair flying!!! My friend Anderson ran 2:37:18 for the Melbourne mara last year

I’ll keep an eye on Yulong Dragon. I love Atlantic Jewel (I had a big 7K all up win on her at Flemington many years ago). I’ll never forget when Dundeel beat her in her only loss. If she was sound she could’ve anything.
My knee is holding up better than expected and I might even have a crack at the full Melbourne marathon in October.
My old man has a share in a promising 2 year old filly Jennifer Eccles who was scratched at Matamata on Wednesday. She’s worth keeping an eye on.

Steve Smith Eccles was a top jump jockey back in day , rode See You Then a triple champion hurdler that Nicky Henderson somehow every year nursed through as his legs were made of glass. Horse lived to nearly 30 , Eccles still knocking about , he was a legend a complete cavalier character loved by punters.
I will keep watch out for Jennifer Eccles.

Changing tack a bit CBT , have a look at Yulong Dragon (ex Empireofthedragon) . Part of 20 horses Yulong brought from  Ballydoyle to race in Australia. First foal of Atlantic Jewel , by Galileo. In training at Hayes yard now . Will be keeping eye on him when he gets going . Good mix of horses  brought over ,  most names changed , Murillo in on Saturday kept his moniker.
Atlantic Jewels second foal is also at Ballydoyle looks like got lead boots , you would beat it over mile by looks at your times.
I'd spell that knee though by looks of it , winter in paddock I'd say.
Lloyd Williams looks to have another good one at Joseph O'Briens yard, Buckhurst looked good at Naas last weekend winning first up, Latrobe just boxed on up hill in 3rd in Alleged Stakes first up this year.

After the epic thread today I thought I’d lighten the mood up a bit and tell you of a personal experience I had many years ago when I used to live in Auckland.
My best friend Andrew and I were in Queen Street when we came across the Navy with these free Sky City passes. Sky City had just been built and it was the official opening that night for VIPs only. Andrew and I were given a Sky City lanyard each from a couple of the Navy boys and we went back to his house to get changed as it was a formal event (black tie unbeknown to us). Andrew put his suit on and I borrowed a suit off his father then we trundled back into the city with our Sky City lanyards feeling very excited that we were going to sneak into this event uninvited. Anyway we both took the escalator up to the official entrance and to our dismay we were told that the passes were not valid for the main VIP event that night (the casino was not due to open up to the public until the next day) and we were sent away packing back down the escalators. Feeling very dejected we were walking out back onto the street when we came across the band who would be playing there that night. Anyway we got talking and one of the band members said he would come down the lift to the basement in the carpark and meet us down there to let us in. It was a long shot and anyway we went down to the basement waiting outside the lift not having much hope we would see the band member who had walked in the main entrance up the escalators with his band. Several minutes passed and we were feeling pretty flat staring at the motionless lift then all of a suddden the doors opened and the band member we met outside said jump in! We couldn’t believe it! The excitement returned and we both looked at each other feeling like we had won lotto. The doors opened and EVERYONE was wearing black tie formalwear except us who had our suits and ties on. Ha ha. EVERYONE was a celebrity there EXCEPT US ha ha but we didn’t care. I headed to the bathroom to take a piss and I had the current All Black captain at the time Sean Fitzpatrick on one side of me and double Olympic gold medalist Danyon Loader on the other and they were both thinking he is this person!! Ha ha. I then headed out onto the gaming floor and had a brief chat with the Education minister at the time Lockwood Smith before moving on to Paul Holmes. It was crazy! Andrew and I then spent the rest of the night playing blackjack with Russell, Martin and Jeff Crowe all giving us strange looks in our ties thinking who are these boys! Ha ha. One of the best days of my life and one I’ll never forget.

I was at the Lime bar in Ponsonby once many years ago and there were a few Black Caps there including Lou Vincent, Darryl Tuffy and Chris Cairns. This woman came up to me saying how are you going Daniel then Lou Vincent chimed in saying Daniel’s having a better night now that you’re here. She thought I was Daniel Vettori ha ha and the Black Caps were playing along. She was plastered so was easily convinced I was him. We all had a good laugh about it and ended up being a fun night.

A while back I met a guy at The Mean Fiddler western Sydney in the TAB area.Said he was Syd Brown.Looked the right age.
Knew everything about the good horses Triton,Daryl's Joy,Woodcourt Inn etc.
Talked to him for quite a while. He was quite outspoken about fellow trainers  including Bart.I went away thinking gee good to catch up with a legend of the turf.
A couple of years later I was at Hawkesbury races and Syd Brown had a runner.I thought I would go and see him.He was there with his wife but he wasn't anything like the geezer I talked to at the Fiddler.I told him about the fraudster and him and his wife both had a fair idea who the guy was.We had a bit of a laugh about it.
    Just saying.........

Whatever Leigh. I NEVER told a lie. I geniunely thought Janet was Woolf’s daughter (she’s my mother’s old school friend not mine).
The connection has now been clarified after speaking with my uncle this evening.
Enough of the bullying please. I know you’re going through a tough time at the moment but there’s no need for that Leigh.

I actually doubt Sir Woolf Fisher was even alive when Desert Sun stood at Ra Ora Stud.
I owned a share in Famous Star around that time and Sir Woolf certainly wasn’t alive then.
I also bred to Nassipour in partnership with Ra Ora. I supplied the mare, they supplied the service. Peter Keating did the deal on behalf of Ra Ora and Lady Fisher. I am sure that Sir Woolf was sadly well gone.
This is all from my memory. It doesn’t include Sir Woolf past the era of Sovereign Edition or there abouts or have I lost it?
Off to bed now as I am getting pretty old.
