    Give me some dates Tommo.

I’m making calls and no one knows a manager named  yet.

When was he at Tabac ?

    Mollies ?

What’s the name of this top Cafe he allegedly owned ?

You’ll find out soon enough short stuff. Steve is one of the most well known and successful barmen in Auckland.

He also managed my uncle’s bar The Burdekin in Darlinghurst, Sydney for many years back when I used to live in Sydney.

    Never heard of him....why would I ?

I don’t normally fraternize with lawyers and if he’s said he’s knows me he’s lying ( that’s a family trait of course ) or he’s being a name dropper ( another tragic family trait )

I think you’re getting a a bit nervous short stuff.

I didn’t say Mark knew you, I said your name came up in a conversation I had with him.

Looking forward to my apology tomorrow and I’m sure Leigh will be fair and balanced in requesting the same after you yet again have accused me of being a liar. ;)

The truth always comes out in the end. :)

Two are lies, the third I’m not sure about, so I want to know the identity of the allegedly “top” cafe then I can investigate and revert with the truth,

I’m very well connected in Auckland hospo, and you’re a known liar, so I want to flog you again.

You’ll be pleased to know I’ve had a few conversations with Mark where your name has come up short stuff. Surprise, surprise. :P

Here’s an old FB profile pic short stuff from when he used to be the proprietor of Mollies. B)

    How’s that investigation going?

Have you clarified that Neil used to own Tabac when Steve managed it?

I’m waiting with baited breath. :P

unbelievable! you just posted a 'reflected glory' post that is just  so ironic..... the fact that someone married you ..has me..reeling...whats the catch?

Would you like to know about my wife flock?

I met her in an Asian takeaway restaurant around the corner from where I used to work at AAPT (an Australian telco that was purchased by Telecom NZ) where she was working for $5 an hour. She has since completed her Masters in Accounting at Melbourne University and her CPA and is now a Finance Business Partner for Brand Collective. I proposed to her on a Chinese Junk called the Aqua Luna in Hong Kong as recommended by the man in Chapel St who used to make my coffee, and can you believe it.........she said yes!! :)

    Here we go sgain

    1. Tell us how Tabac was Neil Finns bar

    2. Who owned Mollies when your cousin managed it ?

    3. What Cafe did he own that was so successful ?

Facts now fella because I’m going to flog you for lying again

Short stuff I was very impressed with your investigation using your “racing VIP.” ;)

Feel free to use the same one to confirm these facts . :P

no Thomson is a wimp...always trying to build himself up..obviously had sand kicked in his face...growing up.

On the contrary flock I had an amazing time growing up at Auckland Grammar then Waikato Uni where I completed my BMS degree.

My two older cousins were also at Grammar at the time,  who was captain of the senior water polo team and his brother Mark.

Steve has managed several bars in Auckland including Neil Finn’s bar Tabac that he was in charge of for several years. He then managed Auckland’s premier boutique hotel Mollies before going out on his own running a very successful cafe in Ponsonby/Herne Bay.

Mark is a very successful barrister in Auckland specialising in arbitration.

Two of my closest friends I met at Grammar who were best men at my wedding also have lived here in Melbourne for well over 10 years so no, can’t say I ever had sand kicked in my face.....growing up. :)

    Life is good. B)

First race tonight on day 3 of Craven meeting at Newmarket is the Alex Scott Maiden Stakes. If you don't know the story about Alex Scott it's a sad tale  with a twist at end . He was a real up and coming young trainer from a military family . He trained Sheik Albadou  at Newmarket   , sent him to Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs in 91 and beat yanks at own game in Breeders Cup Sprint in days it was only  one day and Sprint on dirt was only option for sprinter at meet . He trained a few other top liners too. He started to train for Maktoums and in August 1994 sent an unraced 2 year old to Newbury for a conditions  race that  normally was quite hot , It won . In September 1994 Alex Scott was murdered ,  shot dead by one of his grooms at his famiy owned stud farm .

The horse that won that Newbury race went to Saeed Bin Suroor who was starting out his  UK training career. It only raced three more times , won Epsom Derby in race record time  , King George at Ascot and the  Arc , the mighty Lammtara.

2nd race tonight has Well of Wisdom kicking off ,a half brother to  Avilius trained by Charlie Appleby .

Just listened to the replay now and sounds like Well of Wisdom got up in the last stride. Hope you had a bet on him & thanks for sharing the story on Lammtara.

Life is short Red Rum. A million people go to sleep at night and never wake up. Moral of the story is to be grateful and to make the most of it while you’re here. :)

Here’s a pic of the sunset in Richmond last night. So grateful just to be alive.

I could, I know Chris :)   He loves life  :) and why shouldn't he.   If it wasn't for his resilience and to keep coming back no matter what you throw at him this thread would be nothing :)   Cheers to him.

Don’t worry Maria, I’ve got them all covered. The truth has a funny way of cutting through all the bullshit which I love. :)

Still waiting on Barry to tell us all what he actually does for Graham Hart & also Richmond Tige to tell us all how he knows “Dunc Hawkesby.”

You gonna tell us all Bazza? Are you the pool boy? :P

Best for half-marathon was 1:06:52. Still hold the NZ half-marathon record for masters 40+

Half Marathon     M40 T McLachlan 1:08:22 1996   Actually ran another in 1:08:17  at age 43 but they obviously missed it even though it was a NZ Championship race.

Only ran three marathons, all sub 2:30.

I wonder if I lost 10kg and trained up what I could run now. Probably across the road and collapse. :rcf-laughing-2:

Nice one Ted! I’ve only ever ran 2 half marathons (I could never run beyond 10km in training because of my left knee). My best time was just over 1:28 in the Melbourne half marathon. Would love to try and crack 3 for the full in October but not sure if my knee will hold up unfortunately. Sub 2:30 is fair flying!!! My friend Anderson ran 2:37:18 for the Melbourne mara last year B)

“Flockofewes”.....need I say more. Couldn’t you think of a fairy tale pseudonym better than that? (although it does suit you quite well being a follower and all). :P

You made a jibe at my character with your posting and I gave you a response.

Maybe don’t judge people as you judged me.

    Wise words, take the advice.

Comfortable win in the 5k Chris. Well done.

Cheers Ted. It’s been amazing running with Craig Mottram, a true legend of the sport over here.

Not sure if you’ve ever run around the iconic TAN track in Melbourne but he holds the track record of 10:08 beating other Australian legends like Steve Monaghetti & Robert de Castella.

My quickest is 14:04. The Australian comedian Dave Hughes has run a 13:59!

I also run with a work colleague Megan who used to go out with John Landy’s Son. B)

So your story is full of holes, unless she has forgotten who her father is.

You’re a bit slow on the uptake. This has already been discussed in great detail on this thread. Rather than following the “flockofewes” I’d suggest you go back through the thread and have a look from the start yourself. :)

Changing tack a bit CBT , have a look at Yulong Dragon (ex Empireofthedragon) . Part of 20 horses Yulong brought from  Ballydoyle to race in Australia. First foal of Atlantic Jewel , by Galileo. In training at Hayes yard now . Will be keeping eye on him when he gets going . Good mix of horses  brought over ,  most names changed , Murillo in on Saturday kept his moniker.

Atlantic Jewels second foal is also at Ballydoyle looks like got lead boots , you would beat it over mile by looks at your times.

I'd spell that knee though by looks of it , winter in paddock I'd say.

Lloyd Williams looks to have another good one at Joseph O'Briens yard, Buckhurst looked good at Naas last weekend winning first up, Latrobe just boxed on up hill in 3rd in Alleged Stakes first up this year.

I’ll keep an eye on Yulong Dragon. I love Atlantic Jewel (I had a big 7K all up win on her at Flemington many years ago). I’ll never forget when Dundeel beat her in her only loss. If she was sound she could’ve anything.

My knee is holding up better than expected and I might even have a crack at the full Melbourne marathon in October.

My old man has a share in a promising 2 year old filly Jennifer Eccles who was scratched at Matamata on Wednesday. She’s worth keeping an eye on. B)

More please. This is the best thread ever.

CBT, you weren't in the Notre Dame earlier on today were you, stroking your ego to the point it exploded into a fireball?

    Arse'n is what it is.

So what is it that you actually do for Graham Hart Barry? I see you’ve conveniently avoided that question to further denigrate myself. :P

Notwithstanding the dickhead you have made of yourself on those other threads CBT (by the way, what house were you in with Dunc Hawkesby and do you keep in touch with him?) what on earth are you trying to say here?? If Sean was down only 15k on a day I wouldnt have thought that would be neither here nor there for him. The fact he has runners all over Sydney is simply old news - everyone knows that how he operates.

Im not sure your modus operandi - I genuinely enjoy seeing your tips and seeing your pre race bet slips but are you just lonely/a narciccist/a sociopath/a loser or e) all of the above ??

Your comprehension skills leave a lot to be desired.

I went to Graham Hart’s house in Riddell Rd, not Duncan Hawkesby’s. I went to Auckland Grammar with Duncan Hawkesby who was in a higher stream than me. I was however good school friends with Simon who’s brother Richard married Kate (Duncan’s sister). I also flatted in Claude Rd Epsom many years ago when John used to live there for many years before he moved to Waiheke.

Did you go to Auckland Grammar and how do you know Duncan?

I've stayed out of all this tommo bs for years , but scarily enough , they are exactly as I imagined  , even down to the cutest wutesy puppy at the lunch table

So what exactly were you expecting Charlie?

A young successful happily married Kiwi who moved to Melbourne 10 years ago, bought land and built a beautiful house, bought a brand new car last year, just celebrated his 4th wedding anniversary to his beautiful, intelligent, successful wife, just celebrated his 7th work anniversary working for the best company he’s ever worked for, travelled extensively both domestically and internationally to many countries including the US, China, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, NZ, Perth, Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Cairns and regularly attends race meetings of thoroughbred racing in the most livable city in world.

Life is good Charlie, and it’s only getting better.

Here’s a pic from my latest run 2 weeks ago in the Run4Kids where I started with the next PM of Australia Bill Shorten and also a couple of results when I was fully fit beating the train at my first attempt in Puffing Billy and winning the Melbourne Corporate Games over 5km (still not as fast as Ted in his prime though B)). However I have been lucky to train with triple Olympian Craig Mottram recently which has been amazing!! B)
