  3. RACE 5 – The starter, Russell McAra, was questioned in relation to the positioning of the starting gates at the 1200 metres. After hearing from the starter, R McAra, and the Course Manager, Mr Wayne Stevens it was found that the gates had been positioned approximately 30 metres from the surveyed mark for the rail being in the true position today.   6. Unfortunately Leigh the outcome of this debacle is very costly to the industry. As you say it was one of the best winter tracks in the country until this mistake. It happens too frequently and I guess it highlights how fickle our industry is. I only hope they learn from this.
