Thepaw reacted to Right first time in World Cup of Tipping results thread
I've been in racing comps on multiple sites for in excess of 15 years ... and as a matter of simple courtesy have never ever considered going in to print at any time to question the decisions, motives, and actions of those good folk providing the racing comps for our entertainment and pleasure.
The comps are provided for free, and involve massive commitment by the organisers in time and skill, week after week after week. Skill levels that I could only dream of having myself. It would be simply churlish and very poor form to question those organisers who give of themselves in this way. Of course I haven't always agreed with every decision every organiser has made over the 15+ years, each of us are human after all, but the pluses well-and-truly overwhelm the minuses manyfold.
And 99% of people get that.
But on every site there has been that 1%. Who just don't get it. And unfortunately lack the wherewithall to ever get it.
In each instance the majority wish that the 1% would come to the realisation that they really should just walk away, but of course they never do.
To put it simply, if ya can't be grateful then at least don't be snide and churlish.
Comp organisers, scorers, and commentators freely and very generously provide a wonderful service and countless hours of fun and entertainment. More power to them.

Thepaw got a reaction from tasman man in Jumping season
Morning Tasman
No unfortunately we only had 1 nomination for the Open Hurdle at Hawera so it had to be withdrawn. The unseasonal weather we are experiencing here in the CD is not helping get our jumpers ready for their upcoming assignments. We have some good numbers at 2 recent jumping day at the Brosnan property in Matamata and indication's are that the CD numbers are good but both attempts that we have had trying to get the Waverley PTP off the ground have been stemmed by the hard track and threats of rain

Thepaw got a reaction from Dissident in Jumping season
Evening 50 Win no 1
I'll try and answer what I can based on figures retained from last season
Number of Jumpers in NZ?
Last season we had 121 individual horse start in Hurdle races 72 horses which started in a Chase and 39 which start in both Hurdle and chase races; this equates to 154 Individual horse who raced in a jumps race last season
How many intending to qualify this season?
How long is a piece of string; sorry no data available yet but we have trials / PTP schedule for Waverley Cambridge and Rotorua. There is also Jumping days plan in Matamata so hopefully some new horse will emerge along these pathways but of course we now have the broader open so some may head to Australia for the upcoming Carnival's
What grade are our Jumpers
Based on last years stats:
121 Hurdlers 78 @ the end of the season were maidens 25 had won 1 race 7 had won 2 races and 11 3+ races
72 Chasers 38 @ the end of the season were maidens 18 had won 1 race 7 had won 2 races and 9 3+ races
(NB; This includes the 39 Dual jumpers)
Hope that answers your questions
Regards

Normal Dead Heat rules apply
If there is a race with no 3rd divvy, you will still be allocated the 1 point.
Remember, pick 4 horses in each race and PLEASE put your selections in numerical order.
It would be great if you posted your picks after Scratching time but I realise this just won’t be possible for some people for various reasons.
So if you do end up with a Scratching(s), you will go on the Tote favourite at closing time. If you already have the tote favourite in your selections then you’ll get the 2nd favourite and so on.
Please do not include a Sub(s) in your Selections.
I wont be able to do points updates during the day, will post the totals as soon as I can at the end of the races for the day.
Entries close at 12 Noon Saturday ...cheers.
Good Luck

Thepaw got a reaction from Patiti in Wellington steeples meeting
Hi Patiti,
Yeah pretty much that was the reason that was given by RITA as to why Trentham (and other high profile courses) were not part of the post Lockdown re-programming calendar. Appears surprising I know but a high number of NZ Tracks don't have this capability and if we used the 'non-fibre' course during that period (June- August) then the industry was up for a whole lot of money just to use satellite's to televise the meetings

Thepaw got a reaction from meomy in Cannabis testing
Nukkledragga if you are that confident that drugs are not a problem then come ride one of my horses (they are all quite) when you have been under the influence of some of your gear (but before you get on sign off that you're all good to go) so when one of them burries you in the dirty or your fall off on your own accord then you don't come back and blame me for the consequences of your own poor decision making.
The issue here is freedom of choice; Good luck to you if you want to partake in mind altering substances again that's your choice BUT DO NOT come crying when you get hurt at work and (in Racing terms) then blame the trainer and seek compensation BECAUSE YOU, YOURSELF made a back decision in your own time. If you hadn't figured it out horses can be unpredictable animals and the consequences of someone making a poor personal should not reflected on anyone but those that actually caused the problem, ooooeee that would be the person fried.
So for you NUKKLEDRAGGA (assuming you can't ride): how would you feel driving in a race when everone else is pissed to bits expect you of course when they are driving cars and oh you by chance are on a pushbike HOW BRAVE ARE YOU. Having lost a horse when a rider was under the influence of cannabis I can tell you for free its not that easy driving home with an empty float.
Let me know your perferrence if you are game I can organize both horse or vehicle race - YOUR CHOICE
