Neither party is looking great. Labour has had an awful few years... However, the current National selection and policies are about as bad as they come... I'm not left with much faith in either party and I don't see much from the smaller parties either. I certainly do not see any changes after the election this year and honestly see little point voting for any of them as neither party seem beneficial to NZ.

Amron Boy is probably the dog to beat in the final, he's been competing at the elite level for a long while now, having won his last 5 including a Group 1 and a group 3, plus hes won another Group 1 and ran 2nd in to others, but he can be notoriously slow early at times and miss the jump whereas Postman Pat jumps and runs.
Postman Pat setting the time standard is a great achievement here though, pretty sure the Brisbane Cup is worth 1 mill this year to, 700k or so to the winner.
Hopefully Postman Pat gets clear early and can run out in front. will be an exciting last 100m thats for sure.

I don't think any minister of racing will be able to help the greyhound code, and the industry only has itself to blame. Not sure that Winston will get in, nor somehow acquire the racing minister job. He has done some good things over many years, but think he needs to know when to move on. JMO.

I'm don't do doggy racing, but really enjoyed listening to the Aussie commentary both before and after the race. Everybody is obviously in awe. Kiwi dogs just don't go to Oz and do that. Let's hope next week's final goes the same way.

It is quite odd how in all three codes there is no stringent performance review in all aspects of the industry.  Once administrators get comfortable they try to stick in there for life or until something better comes along.

exactly. I've grown up in greyhound racing. been on both sides of the Tasman. worked in kennels and owned dogs and from where I am now, racing in NZ is too difficult. I no longer own any dogs. last few recently retired and I don't plan on getting more as I now no longer have a license.
The issues regarding certain tracks have been ongoing for a decade. Even recent issues were not acted on until numerous dogs died (e.g., the Cambridge rail breakdown where the club and grnz knew for 5- or 6-months remedial work had to be undertaken). If I was this incompetent in my job now, id be fired. I certainly wouldn't hire any of the people in this industry to run something because they couldn't.
If I were a young trainer in NZ right now, id be looking at moving to Australia ASAP as I doubt racing here is going to last or even be sustainable long term

They still get ignored. All of these people have selfish agendas. My trainer made a complaint 5 months ago and was ignored. Had to essentially spam them to get a reply. They failed to act numerous times and multiple things unless it involves them. The board is both incompetent and a failure. Even the rib report has pointed out this fact of incompetence

Complaints full on deaf ears with the board. They usually just ignore any complaints you raise. Its why many people have decided to leave the industry in the first place.
Ive spoke  to a few people who have sat on the board and theyve agreed the board is largely enept and out of its depth in relation to actually addressing issues within the industry.
Grnz are also reluctant to update and replace equipment. Part of the problem is no register exists currently of what grnz owns and doesnt own. Nor do they know where their assets are at which clubs. If you called up and asked for a register, they wouldnt be able to provide one.
Trainers gave up their rights about 7 or 8 yrs ago in regard to board decisions when they lost their representative on the board.

I have accounts with 5 different sites. TAB is behind the ball game in all areas. From racing to sports betting. And the customer service is even worse. My main concern is that if you give them a monopoly on the prices in NZ, they will just get worse. Surely if the TAB is getting privatised, banning other agencies would be against monopoly rules.

The government is also looking at blocking other betting operators in this country to help "minimise" gambling risks LOL. If the TAB offered better money, I wouldn't be using foreign gambling operators in the first place. Bunch of clowns. I will just use a VPN if I have to because the TAB here never offers better odds and giving them a monopoly on odds in the country will mean they will only get worse. Thanks, but no thanks.

Getting a bit to deep for me Scooby, though I understand your point I'm just a small time punter that is looking for the best return on MY investment, maybe if the NZTAB offered the same odds then I'd support them, exactly the same reason I shop at pak n save and not new world.🙂

Kind of like TAB spending millions on revamping a website that their own financial institutes believed was a waste of money.
