  1. I imagine they had deals in place with Entain Group which will probably see the code survive for a while. Entain Group love the dogs aswell and have spoken to several trainers and clubs about protecting the sport in NZ
  2. Distance dogs have always been few and far between. Unfortunately with the flow of australian dogs slowing down, loss of trainers and the lack of distances in some regions, distance racing and middle distance racing id hurting even more.
  3. Who wants to race greyhounds these days? Full of cheats and people turning blind eyes to things
  4. Because it isnt restricted age
  5. Awful decisions left right and centre around this project Saw it yesterday. The project will be a complete failure. The tracks curved so the centres higher then the outside. They want this track to replace the sprint races at wanganui Which is insane. You will need strong 450m dogs for this distance. Most sprinters will struggle 250m straight let alone a 350m+ straight No middle distance dogs will race there because theres more money in middle distance races and itll be too long for the squibs. to top it off, the straight track they based the design of doesnt race for 6 months of the year.
  6. They shouldnt breed more then we can rehome. Every racing dog deserves a life after racing. Problem is theres only so many dogs that can be rehomed so Dont want to go back to the 80s and 90s when the cowboys in the industry were shooting their dogs or hitting them with spades. Sick stuff.
  7. It depends. Can be stress. Dogs rubbing. Wooden beds.
  8. Yes it 100% should have been Father gets 12 months for meth positive and animal abuse Son gets 18 months. Be one of the smallest punishments ever at this level. I think people in grehounds generally are over it all
  9. SUMMARY 69. Charges a. On the Methamphetamine Charge, the Respondent is disqualified for twelve months, commencing on 20 November 2023. b. On the Animal Welfare Charge, the Respondent is disqualified for a period of six months commencing on 20 November 2023. 70. The periods of disqualification are concurrent. 71. The Respondent is ordered to pay costs to the Informant of $6,026.54. 72. The Respondent is ordered to pay costs of the Adjudicative Committee of $2,500. https://racingintegrityboard.org.nz/decisions/non-raceday-inquiry-written-penalty-decision-dated-3-november-2023-john-mcinerney/ 12 month DQ and his son trains all the dogs during that time. Hardly a slap on the wrist
  10. Honestly couldnt answer. Im not defending Mcinerney here by the way just pointing out what appears to be the facts of the positive meth result. Ill let people form their own opinions on the Mcinerney operations. Dont know much about the injured dog other than it had aggressive cancer. Doesnt sound like it was racing, only that he didnt take it to the vets right away and instead gave the dog pain relief.
  11. They didnt drug the dog to compete. The contamination came from the satelite kennels in the CD from his son Steve who has a well known history of drug use. In greyhound racing, you are guilty regardless of the circumstances. However, makes little difference here, dogs already under J Mcinerney Jrs name
  12. What was the point of closing this track down for a month again? 3 40+ day standown injuries in 3 meetings plus one more from a fall after the finishing line. The one yesterday was the worst. The dog was in clear air. Track certainly doesnt appear safer. Cant wait for the media to pick this one up along with the Mcinerney positive case. Things like this are just driving mpre nails into the coffin. We all know why they didn't shut down longer... the nz cup is in a few weeks
  13. Failing to admit any faults until a few years ago. Participants still have their head in the sand now. So not surprising
  14. From personal experience injuries have declined however the seriousness of injuries is probably worse. Grass tracks would lead to many more hock and toe injuries
  15. Greyhound racing in NZ is in a far worse position then the other codes in all animal welfare issues with no improvement in sight. Always the end result with how terrible the industry has been run
  16. Pulling numbers out of thin air wont help you much. Studies done previously show only 10 to 20% of medical students are Maori. Thats a very small proportion in NZ. Seems like you are getting confused here because last year, we had 300 applications to many and there was no disclosure on any of their races. Also no disclosure on whether they stayed or left. And theses people werent picked on race either. They had worse test scores so didnt make the cut. Keep lying though to make yourself feel better.
  17. So you have no real proof where any of these policies led to someone not getting into a university course due to race I take it?
  18. Because its wrong? Its scaremongering at its worst. There is no evidence whatsoever that anyone who's ever deserved to go to uni has missed out due to any of these policies. Like I said before, if you were really concerned about people not being able to attend uni freely, then remove the loans and make them free. If you arent happy with that, then its hypocrisy at its finest.
  19. funny because I have never heard of anyone in university in NZ missing out on race. Sounds like a lot of baloney to try and scare people into voting a certain way. I was only at Uni 7 yrs ago - Certainly not the case then or now. Only someone thats not been in the education system would make this argument now. If you were so concerned about people not getting into university freely, then you would remove student loans and write off any debt because that is the biggest blocker for everyone. I grew up in a lower socio-economic area and was lucky my parents were involved in racing amongst other things and were able to support me. I had mates who didn't go to university with better grades then me because of the loan and living costs back then from every race
  20. difference is Kiwi build isnt going to cost the tax payer billions like Nationals hole
  21. Unfortunately, both parties are looking very incompetent.
  22. What's wrong with this exactly? Gives a less well of person the chance to get into a market theyd never have a chance of getting in otherwise while gettint older properties that need more maintenance of the books? I think Labour were stupid for saying they wont sell them. The problem in NZ regarding housing isnt so much the supply as much as people buying properties as land banks
