For the first time in 40 years the Melbourne Cup parade has been cancelled with organisers citing cost and animal rights activists for the decision.
 

I bet its more to do with the latter than the former

Just went to look at some Aussie racing tonight and the TAB website has a message up with the graphic "You're in the game" but I'm not in the game and I doubt anyone else is either! How ironic. Maybe someone in IT at the TAB has a slightly warped sense of humour? But the joke's on us apparently - because it looks like they have a serious outage happening. App not working, website via the computer not working either. How many years since they built this expensive monster and still it has more bugs than a Paris bed during a Rugby World Cup campaign.

I laughed at the irony too High Sparrow - and thought this was more fitting (posted in another thread too)

Spot the difference Tom.
Apart from the quality of the facilities, the track surface and the stakes on offer, it's hard to justify Royal Randwick trying to charge less than half the Riccarton price....
Clearly they have no clue 😁

WAS the best track now no longer as mis managed by know it all know nothing committee men who wont listen to advice from anyone who knows what they are doing..which Avondale clearly does not....thats why it is where it now is about to closed.

Sounds like commonsense has prevailed.

I’m going to give that a go too Arjay . Already on the CBD oil ,will supplement with a bit of skunk..we’re going to need something with the way Big Red and bushy tail are going.

I Should have taken a sicky..

The Everest is a completely different race.. with a much longer straight.  I think Moody is a great PR man and is well voiced on keeping things beaut in a number of camps.   I know I've said this before but horses race differently... diff direction, diff lean, diff action on the turns.. and completely different race strategy.    MV suits horses with a quick turn of speed, and Randwick means you have to sustain it or do a blistering run from the back ie. Giga like.    I think the Imp has that but horses get used to racing conditions and having to fight out finishes.   If she runs in the Everest they would have to work out a strategy to play it against a field that will be sprinting on over the top if she runs and possibly a horse that will be nutting it out in front with her like IWIW who let's face it, is really feisty and she'd have to pin her ears back.
When you have a horse like the Imp    a real treasure, that has a fantastic winning game plan that suits her personality and confidence, and you don't need to rattle it, and you have the chance to gain just as many spoils for her on another pathway, why would you change that? 
 

A pleasure Al, results did surprise a bit, but pleased I did no damage to your side of things. Those meds really kicked in 4 weeks ago and been going good since.

Take the easier options and run, what exactly would be gained by running the Everest?  Ok and if she was unplaced? then what you got.  She will be thought of so far as a great sprinter from NZ whom made Giga Kick  look 3nd rate. Ok yes he had a poorly judged ride, but there you go. It's not all about the $$ for this mare.

Timaru should never be closed, has always been a top track. Go back and run the 2 day card at christmas time and watch the people come thru the gates. People are on holiday and have a bit in their pockets.
