  4. It is going to take someone like Zahra losing a race like the Caulfield Cup for excessive whip use, to get the message across. If the rule is there to protect the animals, then enforce the rule. We are actually in a PR war around horse welfare so this stuff is going to become more and more important, for mine.
  5. I think you have a fair point, that was a sh** show of a ride. Jcok to my mind was set on going back, horse jumps better than they realised, but they still go back. If let slide to sit perhaps 2 out, 3 back, horse may have relaxed. Tavistok factor as mentioned above. I backed the Jackal horse - went not a lot better. Miss Pearl will probably win next time out - keep your eyes peeled.

  7. Agreed, I had Fahrenheit today. Good place money, nearly nabbed it on the line.
  8. Derby at 2400 would be it I think. St Leger etc is listed or G3 I believe.
  9. Agree with you Stodge. The overseas element adds intrigue to an unusual event. Let's face it, some of those M Cup winners/placegetters never get near winning another race. If I am worried about 'elite' form I look to top WFA races, here and in Europe. If we were really worried about stayers we would have heaps more 2600/2800/3000 metre events, like they do all the time in France/Germany/England. Make them for decent prize money and suddenly you will have breeders and owners being a little more patient with our sometimes immature 3 yr olds, bringing them along slowly, trying to build a good cups horse. Instead if you have a decent three yr old you rush its prep, sling it in a Derby whether it is ready or not and at times wreak havoc on any future for the horse.
  10. Couldnt figure it out. You have got 500 m or so of wide straight to make yr run in....

  12. More of a watcher than contributor here but semi keen on Duais in the Mackinnon on Saturday. Went to the line untested in Cox plate, blocked for a run which is not unusual at the Valley as we know. Before that was strong over 10f behind Alligator Blood. Might be worth some of your Melbourne Cup first four winnings!
  13. Hell of a run though. My heart skipped when More Felons pushed up on the fence but...could not go on with it.
  14. # 1 #3 #5 #6 #7 #12 #20 #21 Thanks for the comp guys. More you look at it, the more chances there appear to be!
  15. He meant, historically the Euro faves have flopped. Deauville, Spanish Mission etc. Mullins crew is hyper professional as you point out, but I am laying it.
  16. Saw a piece on Racenet from Robbie Waterhouse about how none of the Euro horses starting below $5 have run a place - mentioned about five of them. Interesting stat. Personally I am wary of that first Aussie run - that will be a hell of a crowd, firm track and compact field. Lots can go wrong but he does seem a very nice horse.
  17. 1.. Flemington R1 - 3 2. Flemington R2 - 1 3. Flemington R3 - 8 4. Flemington R4 - 6 5. Flemington R5 - 5 6. Flemington R6 - 4 7. Flemington R7 - 9 8. Flemington R8 - 5 9. Flemington R9 - 9 10. 18. All very sound analysis. I just watched the Ebor - seems like Scriptwriter (More Felons) goes for an outside run, gets baulked, basically stuck for a run. Only gets free with 200 to go. Carried 61 that day, carried 55 at Geelong, was very strong over last 400 there to just dip out. Drops to 50.5 (!) for MC..... kind of has a Max Dynamite/Red Cadeux feel for me. No champion but perhaps Australia suits him based on Geelong? 30s at the moment. Weirder things have happened on the first Tuesday in November.....
  19. That Ascot win where he brained a decent field over 2800...was impressive.
  20. Pretty impressive euro form, good figures in those top races. Wasn't Deuville about a $4 shot last year, came fourth? Last fave to win was.....Fiorente? Could be Green Moon/Viewed/Penzance type of year!
  21. Lacking the depth for mine. M Felons pretty good in Geelong, but miles below Vauban. 50.5 only tho...
