  1. Prussian Dream 7k Constantinople , Dodgepot , breathing op, no real form lately but talent there once 70k !!! , Cardini 5k no form lately Naval Warfare 19k , walking around lately Money holds up well for some of these horses in OZ , good prize money worth a roll dice a change scenery livens them up I suppose . I followed Constantinople a bit though and always liked him ,but 70k for him now they must have some dough to chance him .
  2. I see Jane Chapple Hyam had him for the two UK starts and owned by what looks like a Japanese syndicate . That Oslo that beat him from a top Juddmonte family too . He's had 10 runs since for 4 seconds , gone well , the other horse that beat him on 2nd AW run has gone well since too . Form looks solid , he will probably start mid week and over anything around 2000 plus midweek will chew up those Australian midweek stayers before moving on .
  3. James Cook ( Galileo - Red Evie ) went for 42k Guineas as a Coolmore cast off to stand in Uzbekistan that's some decent bloodlines there for about 80k kiwi bucks . Looking forward to seeing his first runners Tashkent Downs .
  4. Frankel , 1st and 3rd in Derby , also got a winner in HK last night that I think was from his 1st crop or maybe 2nd . Kingman , Group 3 winner on Derby Day , Group 1 winner at Belmont Park Saturday in Manhatten Stakes , Domestic Spending looks best older turf horse in US at moment. New Bay , getting a few winners now . There were a few more Juddmonte Stud stallions chipped in last few days , or ones they raced and sold on . I see Running Man ran at Otago on Sunday , grandam full sister to Dancing Brave , hasn't inherited too much star power but on his day that horse is OK.
  5. Looking at the owners business model , the numbers they had at that trials that day , that horse will next be seen at Sha Tin or Happy Valley. Doubt he will go again in Australia.
  6. Blimey Gruff , that's a tip and a half . He didn't have all favours but mowed em down, absolutely done them. Seriously that's some selecting out of a maiden at Bairnsdale , wow.
  7. Haven't looked too much today , but Iam getting on to that though for some interest . Thanks . Few more days for Prussian Dream until auction closes , he will go picnic racing I'd guess . Amazed how much Constantinople going for , he beats himself more often than not, I backed him last time and he ripped and teared from start and stopped dead finished tailed off .
  8. He's up for sale Gruff , current inglis online 1250 current bid . Lot 14. Still keen to race according to write up just struggling in Victoria . Constantinople in there too, 16k at moment .Jumps career ahead maybe . Had breathing op and bit dodgy at times . Got bags talent though . CardinI another ex Ballydoyle , no bids yet . Worst write up I've ever seen . Nothing at all about the horse and where it's prospects could be . No effort made whatsoever . No bids is what that effort deserves .
  9. Charlie Appleby trains the horse that beat Mojo Star last time out , Manabo then bolted up by 4 lengths next time out and is 2/ 2 . . A Sea the Stars gelding , his form stacking up pretty well . Appleby has a couple of lightly raced 3 year old geldings who look very handy, the other won on debut last week at Yarmouth .
  10. Dragon Dancer was beaten a short head by Sir Percy in Derby and took until August the year after to win his only race . He was rated at 119 at one point while still a maiden . Good day for Charlie Appleby , he just trained the 1st and 2nd in a grade one in New York to go with 3 out of top 6 in Derby , Godolphin also picked up Belmont Stakes . All those three Godolphin winners bred by them so a good day for them .
  11. Looked a hot maiden on paper that one , plenty will come out of that. Cypriot racing wouldn't be too unfamiliar to you Stodge,a lot of stallions in the breeding you would know of and a lot races either EU bred restricted or local breds restricted. Gentleman called Athos Christadolou had big role there as owner , breeder and administrator . He owned some good ones mainly with Guy Harwood , most named with Cyprus connection . St Hilarion was good , ended up in NZ at stud , Mamaluna was good filly and i used to like old handicapper called Halkopous .Probably best known as owner of Ile De Cypre..He went down in the history books as swerving and unseating Greville Starkey when race sown up at Royal Ascot . Later at Southwark Crown Court at a drug case a guy explained he was paid to use an ultrasonic stun gun disguised as binoculars to zap a noise wave at the horse . Horse won Juddmonte International and ended up at stud in Cyprus . Musalsal who ran in Benny the Drips Derby stood there too . Very well run industry there .
  12. Hungary Heart AJC Oaks , Harlech the dam 60k guineas out of Godolphin after one unplaced race for them to Yulong , sent to Frankel and shipped down so she also strong in Euro connection .
  13. I see Straight Shooter a son of Frankel had a winner in Cyprus yesterday Stodge , not a bad little track that Nicosia Jockey Club if you ever on the Island . First race at Leopardstown looks a hot maiden , Discoveries sister to a couple of topliners inc Alpha Centuri and Juncture damsire Frankel from Juddmonte Farms .
  14. Just shows they got to get those European middle distance stallions in and the results come . All European bred stallions bar Tavistock and he was 100 per cent European blood .
  15. Back in day when I started to drive my Dad never had a licence , no need for him to drive in those days , just a walk to factory and home , or the tube . 200 quid I brought a 1750 Austin Maxi , I used to fire it up and we went a few times to that Stratford Friday evening fixture in last days of jump season . We used to hit Towcester , Huntingdon as well for evening jumps in May each year , then round M25 to Sandown, Lingfield and Kempton during summer evenings . Saw good quality horse one evening at low grade Lingfield meeting , Ibn Bey , backed it to beat favorite in small field race , won and covered the gas , a look at its later form in top world races showed it should have been 1/10 . Went Windsor Monday evenings a few times over the years , took a girlfriend there one evening as had share in one of Peter Harris's horses , demolished the saddling box ,he went berserk. Very embarrassing, three years later it was sacked never having troubled the winners enclosure . Folkestone mentioned in your post gone , Towcester almost gone in all reality .Have you been Towcester Stodge ? , very good course for viewing from roof of stand and a gut busting run from turn in up hill. Good days .
  16. Tilsit was only just nosed out in final stride at Longchamp on Sunday , closely related to Kingman . Not a day goes by in UK and Ire without a Juddmonte bred stallion getting a win somewhere . They were all over the show the other day from 3 mile hurdles to 5 furlong sprints . That exciting chaser of Skeltons Allmankind goes back to the family mentioned above by John Clydesdale , goes back to Bahamian .
  17. Things have changed , years back flat all finished on turf Doncaster November Handicap meeting , the Zetland was the longest race for 2 year olds . Then AWT came along and then floodlite winter meetings , Gloucestershire won on 14th Dec at night at Kempton on poly , 20 odd years back he would be tucked up for winter . Woodcote Stakes on Derby Day back in day was first race over 6 fur.ongs in season for 2 year olds , that's no longer the case. Jumps used to stop end May early June with a double header Stratford onto Market Rasen in evening to sometimes settle championships , start again end July early August. Now it goes on through resulting in a race like Saturday at Hexham "The Derby Day Juvenile Hurdle " for 3 year old over 2 miles . The French start them earlier over jumps but UK and Ireland used to be end July early August .
  18. Go Bears Go , good 2 year old winner at Ascot few weeks back beating a fancied Godolphin Frankel blue blood , heading to Royal Ascot for Coventry or Norfolk Stakes , La Mer appears in his pedigree four back .
  19. That be the one , my time line a bit off and no world beater but a solid enough horse but retired now . Sunsett has another youngster to get to track by Tavistock .
  20. La Mer granddaughter was Bahr a very good horse Grp1 winner , Bahr produced Nahrain who was high class and Nahrain produced Benbatl .There might be others from her daughters as she went to some decent stallions. I am sure earlier in season there looked a handy horse by daughter of Sunline but name escapes me , no champion but sure they mentioned it on trackside.
  21. It's a sporting discussion like any other sport , discussing if Maradona was better than Pele would be a similar means nothing, it's just enthusiasts shooting the breeze , not sure why people get so cheesed off with it , if I think Maradona was better than Pele that's fine, it's an opinion worth bugger all , don't make one jot of difference like 90 per cent of sporting discussion .
  22. I've thrown a few coins each way on Nakeeta at Chester tonight Stodge , bit of life in him fresh up, likes Chester and weight has dropped off him from old days of the 108 rating and Melbourne Cup runs .. Might bob in a place , or surprise the younger ones who knows , field not much chop . Seems in better form back at Jardine's yard. , no idea on Gormley the jockey .
  23. Had a look at 1988 Oaks , big white face , big strong but white socks a figment of my imagination after 33 years , saw her at Sandown on debut though that's for sure .Beat Hollow in that family , loved that horse .
  24. Just had a look at the breeding , going a few back Bahamian was a lovely filly , saw her race a few times many years back and one that sticks in my mind , had a bit of a wow factor when she went into paddock is my memory of her , memory not getting better but four white socks and big white face . Big strong filly , doubt there's a photo of her but will have her in my racebook pile .Must be great to have some of that bloodline in your breeding .Wil have a search of you tube to see if I can confirm my recollection.
  25. Happyandunoit was pretty handy , Group 1 performer in NZ and OZ as a 2 year old year old and won three Group 1s stateside over a couple years having some very good fillies and mares behind her , all three Group 1 wins stateside at Hollywood Park, won couple other races too over there from Frankel barn including First Lady Stakes at Keeneland .
