  1. They re adjusted that WFA scale for 4 year old chasers about 20 odd years back because of the French imports , Pipe started getting them over and if was clearly too much when it came to the those imports, a horse called Majadou was one of first to run up a sequence for Pipe . Still too much really .
  2. Early chance to see how form stacks up , Mirage Dancer in at Sunshine Coast at weekend , 6.50 at Ladbrokes , needs to be 65.50 before I back him again .
  3. Oasis Dream and Redwood 1 and 2 in first jumps race yesterday at Te Aroha .Oasis Dream wouldn't have too many jumpers . Almost a rare blank day for them yesterday but Spanish Moon that good middle distance horse ex Stoute yard dug one out over fences at Uttoxeter . Frankel has had a few hurdle winners Solo Saxophone has done a decent job ., nothing over fences but I'd guess by end this season in UK and Ire one will bob in .
  4. In on Wednesday over mile at Sandown but looks unlikely to get a run at 38 , rated 68 .
  5. Descendent of La Mer , Go Bears Go might be very handy , won Railway at Curragh off very good Royal Ascot run , won his side that day when finishing second . Beat a good one last night and confirmed his form from Ascot race with Ballydoyles first string again .
  6. Did you do the Matt Hancock sponsored coincidence bet at Newcastle Stodge, Dubious Affair , plodded home sadly .
  7. Incentivise , good horse to run up sequence , cannot do anymore but that form of who he beat yesterday , dire . Mirage Dancer looking to breeding shed now , third horse 6th in average Ipswich Cup under 54kgs last week, Southern France not the same since setback and rest just average stayers .Zaaki beat MD by same distance under a hold at levels at end three or four big races in prep . Victoria in Spring in a big one a different league to that motley crew yesterday .
  8. Five wins in UK and Ireland last night for Frankel , including Irish Derby , got three timer at Newmarket . Other Juddmonte bred stallions on scoresheet , Rail Link got the " Pitmans Derby " winner aka The Northumberland Plate , ex Sir Henry Cecil trained Camacho got a winner as well . In Australia Trade Fair got winner of Strickland Stakes in WA .
  9. Apprentice in UK is an apprentice on flat , and conditional over jumps but both are referred to as "claimers ". . Not sure why there is a different name but must be a reason .
  10. Bugs is one I like , that's what the yanks call apprentice jocks
  11. Caulfield R7 Sub in 10 for scratching , thanks
  12. Tauranga R7 ) 9 Riccarton R7 ) 5 Caulfield R7 ) 4 Caulfield R8 ) 2 Caulfield R9) 13 EF R2 ) 9 R3 ) 8 R4 ) 7 R5) 14 R6) 1 R7 ) 4 ( 20 ew) R8 ) 5 ( 50 ew) R9 ) 3 (100 ew) Thanks to organisers
  13. Haven't seen the film , what I've heard is its good . Clearly it goes a bit away from the true facts, the mare dying during foaling looks like quite a major deviation , unless the studbook is wrong because she had a few slow ones after Dream Alliance one by Beat All and another by M'Bebe .
  14. 3 trips to Cheltenham Festival, 2 trips to Aintree Festival Inc 1 run in the big one , 2 wins Inc Welsh National at their home track Chepstow , a win at the big end season Perth Festival in their big race , that would have been massive day out and second to the mighty Denman in Hennessy at Newbury . No way ever by any measure is that moderate.
  15. Not sure it moderate success at all , they won the Welsh National which would be very special to them , and it's a race with a rich history . The horse took them to some big meetings over a long period as these horses can go on for years .The owners experience at some of these big meetings would be worth decent coin. They were lucky though, three other horses out of mare never got a place and closest they got to winner in those runs was 10 lengths, those ones weren't even moderate . However one of those slow racehorses has produced a decent chaser at a top yard .
  16. Some big drafts in that July HIT Stodge, over 100 from Shadwell alone plus the odd one owned by them listed under the stable banner , a lot of 3 year olds getting moved on early , clearly looking to streamline now .
  17. Cheese and tomato in Coupland''s 99c loaf my go Rusty , you'd be a Molenberg or Vogels man I'd guess , Bryce I'd say be more my kinda sammy . He's brewing for a win . Let's hope it's today . I see Madame Cherie the half to one of his newcomers going today at Timaru . I'd guess his one will be quicker .
  18. I suppose it's horses for courses when doing form but to be honest I don't really bother with times especially in winter , bar if a horse got an obvious easy lead in a slow run race and maybe inflated the performance that might not be re produced, each punter has their own focus I suppose. I do recall a time issue was posted on here for a previous meeting there recently , not sure the outcome . Some horse ran quicker on heavy than a decent sprinter in mid summer over 1200 I think it was .
  19. Three of them I see . The one out of Glitterati interesting . Glitterati looks to be the slowest horse ever bred by Juddmonte . Two runs and cast aside by them for a grand .Ended up only 45 rated in UK and coming 13 of 14 in a banded AW race .45 looks 43 too many . Banded races were so bad they canned them. . Her South Island runner Madame Cherie walked round last week at Timaru. Beaten 3 horses home in 8 runs. All very unpromising however Xaar appears in family and Glitterati's half sister Trick Of Light won a maiden for Juddmonte before going to Australia for Mick Price and going very well. Went out second favorite in a Geelong Cup . Her offspring go for six figures and she's been through for 160k at MM broodmare . I guessing thats the reason Glitterati ended up being purchased from UK on the back of her half susters form .Good Luck Bryce . Good to see the old ones in too .
  20. Sadly bookies haven't missed Prescotts lightly raced type in " Pitmens Derby " . Stands out a mile as type he gets in light on the weights . Likes the sand too .
  21. You might want to see what happened to a horse called that at Casterton last year on 27th June who fell , the one with that name isn't coming out of retirement . Of course there could be two the same name which is entirely possible.
  22. She almost got the big one last night Berri , one tough performance from winner though. I recall you picked out Palace Pier early doors on a post here , they are worth keeping an eye on I've noticed .
  23. Had a look at Chief Singers record at stud and by coincidence Chief Singers last ever runner in UK was a horse called Chief Song who ran his last race at Ascot in 2002 . However he ran in a 2 and half mile Steeplechase 20 odd years after his dad had blazed a trail down the straight in Coventry Stakes .
  24. Got me thinking there with Kaboo mentioned on debut Stodge . Remember one of the first Royal Ascot I watched . Chief Singer , how good was that horse to win the Coventry on debut nearly 40 odd years ago . Ron Sheather has since died , Ray Cochrane survived a plane crash and Jeff Smith still getting winners at Royal Ascot in the big ones to this day . Chief Singer was a horse and half , one of my favorites over the years . Had a read up , Piggott said to Cochrane pre race in reply to a put down about the horse from Piggott , " take a good look at his face cause all you going to see later is his arse " .
  25. Fair enough , I am sure it's a temporary miss this year as the trainers here normally do very well up there . Still the Sunshine Coast Cup to go I think unless I've missed it . Has The Bostonian retired , he goes well there .
