  1. I was over few years back , had breaky and turned on my old man's attheraces, Naracoote or somewhere was in the gate , said hey some Ozzie stuff on . My old man's first words " fxxk me it's dusty that won't do the lungs much good ". Mind you he's still getting over me breaking it to him Qewy won some races out these parts . He done some dough on him once at over jumps , Kempton I think . Auckland Cup will be a 5am job in UK , even poms don't gamble that early .
  2. I suppose it's a guess in the heat of battle what type of injury slows a horse down at full bore with blood pumping , stress of situation . Alabama Express virus must have done for him thats different , others only an expert would know but human athletes sometimes realise they are injured after event . A boxer with damaged hand don't pull his first few punches till pain starts to kick in , he or she just messes it up more though. No reason for Catalyst to make too many excuses anyway , no stud value in him to protect .
  3. Those horses you had in work you sacked though must have been deemed to have some ability to win at some point if you could offset costs , you wouldn't bother with a plodder just for appearance fee would you ? . It's a shame when a horse with a bit of ability has to go through costs .30 start maidens though unless placing regularly need another career .
  4. So you would back J Macc on a kiwi horse but not Bowman on a kiwi horse . Yet both have ridden predominantly in NSW/ VIC in past many years . Would J Macc get more out of Kiwi horse than a Bowman or any other top 10 OZ jocks .J Macc gets more out of horse than most but so much more than Bowman than you'd disregard Bowman on same horse .
  5. NZTR must make that time available , it's published in most results everywhere else , not sure why they would be an arse about it . One line e mail " hello NZTR , what official time did race 3 Omoto jump , kind Regards " . Job done .
  6. Agree , part of perils dealing with offshore . What he or she needs is the official NZTR start time , what time the bet was struck on offshore computer and there is the settling of case . If he/she dealing with the big corporates there will be no problems at all. The time is the time . Slightly different but dealing with time and seconds here or there . A few courses in UK have found small cameras on poles set up around the odd course , also drones being used to beam pictures to persons unknown . With the TV delay of few seconds there is some kind of in running betting scam some crowd are running . Communication has come so far nowdays , to think a ringing scam over horse called Gay Future hinged around Cartmel racecourse only had one phone box and paying some big hard Irishman to hog it for half hour .
  7. Example, 1st Leopardstown Sunday . 1.15 pm scheduled start time 1.15.08 official start time . Race therefore starts 8 seconds late . Seriously are you guys telling me there is no official start time and that Sublime has to rewind the TV add subtract get a sun dial out to see the actual start time or contact a club member or something . There absolutely must be an official start time . If there is not , shut up shop give the whole thing away , put the horses in a retirement paddock and don't bother shopping the races to big overseas bookies for money . It's so basic I've never even given it any thought until now , it's like breathing .
  8. If NZTR do not have it I would be shocked , they must have it for this very reason .It's a very basic part of ensuring integrity .
  9. NZTR must have every exact time of jump for every race , it's in nearly every result list overseas they must not publish it for some reason . It's a very important point of integrity , they will have it to the second .
  10. I'd rather try get a decent price on a roll of dice on The Shark in case they change course in Spring and some deal goes down but the OZ horses in that nearly unbeatable imho . He's 50 to come out , if he goes through Guineas campaign well he will do usual mile plan for Euros after the will he won't he Derby routine thing . If he fails to train on he will go off to stud . I think they had to rate him better than Frankel as he replicated his 2 year old season plus the big Irish win . I don't think he will end up within 5 pounds of Frankel , but iam wrong way more times than right . Earthlight more of sprinting look from Fabre yard I would have thought. Cummings has a few to shuffle anyway . Big call bringing a sprinter down to OZ .
  11. Mozu Ascot the Frankel factor .In the last week Frankel horses went 1 2 over 3100 in Saudi Stayers , had winner of Sweet Embrace Randwick ,a Grade 1 winner on dirt and graded winner at Gulfstream. Everywhere , every surface Frankel genes show through .
  12. Avilius coming along nicely and hit top form last autumn . His half bro Well of Wisdom had a gutsy win up at Meydan on Thursday . Waller has a horse called Norway . Ex Ballydoyle now Yulong . When assessing his form it has to be taken in the context of his use as a pacemaker on a few occasions , with Waller giving him a prep and race plan for Norway's need rather than stablemates he could be in mix . He was entered up last week so will be out shortly, had a couple trials . It's going to be a great autumn .
  13. 100 per cent agree , a great sport . Always something to look forward to and discuss , sometimes heated discussion . A diversion from everyday life . Jamie Richards could end up a great of racing , he has the pedigree as his family seem thoroughly decent people .His father a real professional .The handling of a slightly fragile TAS is a feat of training that is a credit to stable . As for Danon Premium, he's on the up . Improved since last March . Had 10 runs , gone out in first three line of betting in every start and his started in some of best races Japan have in huge fields , Tenno Sho, Mile Stakes, Derby . Won 6 placed 3 one forgive when hampered early and run record time in Futurity . Beaten the likes of Win Bright, Mozu Ascot multiple grp 1 winners , beaten and been closely beaten by Indy Champ , second to Almond Eye in Tenno Sho. Potentially if he turns up imho will be the best horse Japan have ever sent over . JRA rate him many pounds above Dierdre and Mer De Glace .He's good .
  14. If Danon Premium turns up in any half decent nick for QE2 it's a shut the gate job ,a quick look of races and horses behind him shows his level of form a number of kilos above anything here or in OZ . He dealt to Cox Plate winner last March .
  15. Something about that name , I don't like it at all.
  16. What were the crowd numbers like . It just looked light on numbers on TV again . With this virus thing going around Serie A playing games behind closed doors , HK and Japan no crowds at race meetings due to restrictions. Maybe that's something NZTR can be ahead for the game , they could advise from a vast knowledge pool built up over years how to conduct sports events to empty stadia and discourage attendees . Sanzar rugby can get on board as they more often than not make no wear or tear on stadium seats , Super Rugby appears devoid of interest in most parts , literally you cannot give tickets away to some games .
  17. I used to think it was BS this stopping power, just luck . Iam really starting to get on board with it now , imagine if that same mystical power was used as a force for good in this world . It's starting to get a bit more than chance . I wonder if CT ever met an ex jock from Ireland called Dermot Browne , he was known as the stopper but he used a needle not mind power .
  18. Is Mahoning Downs on today ,Youngstown Ohio the home of thoroughbred racing in Youngstown Ohio .
  19. Both those Te Akau horses I thought place at best on turn , huge runs . Catalyst was so good here imho he will be competitive in OZ .Still liking the look of Chenier , lightly raced , bad stumble . Doubt it cost race but he's very good . Hope you got some of F4 you labelled in earlier post. Only Fifty Stars got home for me yesterday but not getting rich on that divi .
  20. Wouldn't write him off on one run .
  21. Good job Te Akau done the biz in style today in Aust to maintain NZ honour as the OZ bred horses dealt an arse kicking at Ellerslie , half the card , a trifecta and the big one to Aus bred .
  22. It appears Canada are in process of building or procuring 6 new ice breakers . Things might not be so bad .
  23. Apparently a huge ice breaker sent to get a supply ship stuck in ice is stuck in ice north of Canada , seems icy not melty up there . Environment Friend and Ozone Friendly both good horses back in day in UK .
  24. I don't really know without an abacus but if I had a bet only one out of three needed to win I might be happy with 1.60 to 1.70 ish .So again guess 2.10 all to lose . Might be way off , I'd be interested what others think.
  25. I rewatched the last again , I honestly cannot hear any problem with commentary at all . It's a bit rough on the guy imho , he did fine . Anyway watched last race again because that Exaltation looks very good and not worst field of 65ers I've seen and they got windburn in last 100 .NZTR need to correct time though, 2.10.93 for 1200 , even a northern slug stayer quicker than that .
