  1. Iam not so sure it's too bad a decision for this year . Firstly I'd take money every time but iam still pissed if a 10ew bet gets nosed out of places . But if owners have a bit of money , this year's spring could be weakest it's been for many years in Cups with travel issues . Plenty in OZ are past prime , Vow and Declare will rip up weights with minimal internationals to keep weights down for him, no real top guns maybe bar Verry Ellegant and she does plenty wrong at times in the run , under Cups pressure she is prone to crack . Il Paradiso , who knows how he will cope with OZ style prep .Kinane has been very lightly raced up to now so has improvement , although flattered maybe by Entente's jelly legs in final 200 but bidders will have examined sectionals . Looking at Hong Kongs elite level at moment , it's pretty thin on ground bar Beauty Generation . Over stayers trip it's not great , same old ones rattle around tomorrow night , Time Warp etc . Maybe go to Spring , if he comes through sound and rep intact he can still go up for Derby next May , possible worth more who knows.
  2. Although I would concede totally it would take a deal of concentration at the task in hand to keep focus on the dangers of an opposition hearing that disinfectant situation coming from them , the light thing I can kind of get I suppose . I remember being told by doc to bung one of mine in the sun to cure jaundice years back , no idea why or what it does , but disinfectant that's got me baffled .
  3. If you don't like Trump that's a opinion your entitled too , however I suspect he got to the position he is in by people dismissing him as the post above . It's a good idea never to dismiss an enemy as an idiot if you want to win .
  4. Rosehill R4 1 and 6 R5 1 and 2 R6 5 and 6 R7 5 and 6 R8 1 and 3 Flemington R4 1 and 8 R5 2 and 3 R6 2 and 3 R7 1 and 11 R8 2 and 4 Thanks to sponsor and organisers.
  5. BHA in UK have used stake money saved to help the welfare side of things during shutdown, so very very far from dumb question imho , if they have received this money where is it . . Their accounts need a massive trawling though . This smells of robbing Peter to pay Paul .
  6. Port Macquarie for example . 10 kiwi breds in 7 races out of 8 races on card , 3 wins and 3 places , one place a total roughie .
  7. Iam convinced if a punter has an even ew stake on every NZ bred running in OZ they would show a profit . The times 2 in race they go quinela or go win and 4th that kind of thing . I scroll through that RISA site for results and stands out like dogs balls daily . Some big prices and huge quinela today . Plenty NZ winners from not that many NZ runners all over the show .
  8. Good on the bloke for fronting, battling and trying but a union rep cannot threaten to leave , it's like a squad leader giving troops battle plans for next week on his last day in army .it's a bad negotiating look . Union rep should not make it personnel to themselves , it's the members have instructed me , that kind of thing .
  9. Odd thing to say as a union rep , threatening to leave normally would result with a boss saying , no worries so who do I negotiate with then as no need to waste time with those leaving .Members normally worry entrusting negotiations to someone leaving . Got to me careful what these racing reps say in public , 95 per cent don't give a rats arse about racing, another per cent maybe quite happy punting on OZ racing now . Most would say after hearing someone say that from racing would be don't let the door hit you on arse on way out mate .
  10. It was a dawdle alright , picked up ok in end but too late . Stats show he needs everything to go right to get his head in front. More money into kitty for stable for 5th . He has more in today, there's a win coming this next month or two Gruff . Had a go at La Juge in next Gold Coast , overdue . Think your tip out .
  11. Used to be in old country Labour fill up their and their union cronies bank balances and in end that finishes their time in power , conservatives fill up their bank balances and have sex scandals as well , like MPs tied up found dead with stockings and suspenders with an orange stuffed in mouth . No not Monty Python sketch poor old Stephen Milligan. Not one to read before breakfast .
  12. Bryce picked up nearly 2k last night at Pakenham, 3 horses went out all about the 50 to 151 SP mark and beat home total of 3 runners . 2k ok for nights work minus expenses . HW ,61 runs since debut March 2018 , have you seen his fresh up stats , 1 run fresh up, his debut . Run every month bar July 2018 when he had about five weeks off . He's a decent ew show today over 2600 , iam on and going to throw a few coins on his 106 start maiden at Cranbourne tonight . Awful race over 2600 , favorite puts in a bad one who knows .
  13. Fair enuff Barry , I love Racing I don't want to see it gone . But I am getting a wee bit worried about the debt our youngsters in NZ are going to be paying for years , not bothered about me , I've had my fun, I will plod on paying taxes till I've put my last bet on as long as I've got a job . We all need to put the shoulder to the wheel, I like the Kennedy saying " ask not what your country can do for you , ask what you can do for your country " . Maybe iam old fashion but I'd feel Fxxking guilt ridden drawing the wage some of these suits get for running some industries into the ground .
  14. So how much money do you have a guess racing would need ? I've no idea but it needs something better than x got y and a got b. It needs a full forensic finance review really , losing 3.8 mill in accounts is mind boggling . Doubt it has time for another review but the trimmer needs firing up to cut the fat at top to survive .
  15. I have the greatest respect for the grafters in the industry that put the show on Pam and hope like hell it survives here ,, but when it can be seen the salaries being thrown around in a business on bones of arse and taxpayer needs to give money it pisses me off a bit , we all in for a shit few years anyway , our children will be burdened for years paying our debt, it's not confetti taxpayer dollars. We all pay it in .I do hope things improve for racing .
  16. You cannot go to government say hand out more cash because everyone else might be getting help unless there is a clear plan to reduce waste , it's clear there is a wee bit of waste and bad management pre covid . No right minded person wants the " workers " unemployed but taxpayer and "workers " cannot be held hostage by large number of suits in high paying jobs . How much handout would you ballpark guess racing needs ?
  17. Haven't racing had a bit from taxpayer for the AWT ? 23 mill I thought it was .That's a decent handout for any sport , plus the tax credit for high priced yearlings does racing/breeding really want more tax payer dollars . Lot of shiny arses on big dough according to some of those wage subsidy details . I think they might want the taxpayer reassured the costs are cut first and by a lot , and how long the 17 mill a year goes to Paddy Power needs paying for . So 23 mill AWT, 30 mill to feed hungry families . Racing doing alright out taxpayer when it's put in those terms , I like kids to have food in their bellies rather than blokes in subsidised BMWs pushing paper.
  18. The catwalk weren't so good OM , but better than the tin spaghetti pizza his mate cooked up. He dealt with some real tough stuff as PM , like the PM today , wages seem a little light for steering the ship last 10 or so years . Just unsure of the no drawing of the wages situation .
  19. Peter Fitzsimmon's very very anti racing , he wants it gone . Fiercely critical of all aspects of the sport . Very clever and entertaining bloke though .
  20. Not disputing any of those facts , as I posted in thread I am well aware life was not handed to him on a plate , he also imho didn't do too bad a job as PM through some tough times , I'd be a bewildered at a lunch if someone introduced him as Australian PM , I'd probably laugh to be polite . I think the Aussie's generally seem happy with Scomo at the moment as he navigates through , looks like sport back soon over there . Anyway , is that a definate that he didn't draw a wage at all during his time as PM , because good guy no doubt but that isn't the question . Don't get me wrong , he or she draws a wage as PM , they deserve every cent , should be paid more than 490k.
  21. Not knocking Sir Key , he wasn't given life on a plate , I think PM seems underpaid compared to other public officials . However Ive never seen a real answer on that no salary . Only indication portion to charity , well most of us do a bit for charity or volunteer work or give money .
  22. Is that a definate fact he did not draw a wage , he indicated prior to election that a large part of salary he would donate to charity . Not drawing a wage is totally different to drawing a wage and giving it to a charity of choice as pointed out to a number of council officials recently , as drawing a wage and giving to charity is still drawing a wage . It would be interesting to see if Sir Key continued this noble non drawing of salary into his life of ex PM, like the 51K plus benefits that ex PMs receive plus car replaced at 60k kms plus travel benefits .Good on them for earning the coin and benefits but is it for sure he never drew a wage as PM .
  23. Drugs , alcohol , violence , 6 months sitting on his backside . That's not a good combo at all. It would have hurt with that helmet on once the initial second of shock had passed .
  24. Doomben stipes report a good read , Cassidy received the old Liverpool Kiss. Having received a couple in my time , it's not as pleasant as it sounds .The crash helmet sounds like an off weapon .
  25. They take the maximum piss to be fair TT .Zero per cent a certainty this year though .The shit they pay for is unreal .
