Charlie Bukowski got a reaction from Basil brush in Cubes Sadly passes away
And in typical Cubes fashion, Bad Flamingo went round with the White Armband !
They were the black colours of the Carston stable but every other time I've seen Black arm bands required on Black colours, they have still worn a black armband.
Still leading the way Cubes..

Charlie Bukowski reacted to gubellini in Terry McDermott
Sad to note that former Rotorua and Matamata trainer Terry McDermott passed away last Friday. His first winner was The Answer at Rotorua on the 11/2/61 ridden by Buzz Leggett. Lardalette won three 2yo races for him in the 1973-74 season. He was best known as the trainer of the top hurdler Owhata Chief who was involved in one of the most controversial races in NZ Racing history- the 1976 Great Northern Hurdles. Thun won the race by 1.5 l from Owhata Chief. There was an inquiry and placings stood. Owhata Chiefs connections appealed to the Waikato District Committee and the placings were reversed. At a later appeal Thun was reinstated as the winner.Next year in the 1977 Great Northern Hurdles Owhata Chief ridden by Choc Hounsell won by 40l from Royal Mail and Thun. He also won the 1976 Waikato, Awapuni, Trentham and Wellington Hurdles. Later he was sold to the States and won 10 further races and $US 81,962.

Charlie Bukowski reacted to Idolmite in Cubes Sadly passes away
Tragic news. His unique posting style meant every post he made was worth a read. I did not know him personally, nor anything about him, but his posts had a way of including us all in his latest escapades. I wonder what'll happen to Cubes' latest girlfriend now? The one he didn't know he had? R.I.P. Cubes.

Charlie Bukowski reacted to Black Kirrama in Verry Elleegant - OZ jockey riding her in the Arc...
Doesn't this remind you of the David Archer balls's up with Mufhasa ?
His wonderful trainer , Steve McKee who had won a record number of NZ Group Ones with the Pentire gelding.
Archer knew best and spit the dummy, and changed trainers.
Archer has continued to have group One success with Lance O'Sullivan.
Steve Mc Kee, always the true blue professional has never commented publicly.
To his credit.
Maybe his wife Fionas's next book will tell us more.
Fiona wrote the book " Sunline Heart Of a Champion"

Charlie Bukowski got a reaction from Littletramp in Trackside
Well funny that, I see it the total opposite.
Instead of muting Trackside until the last is loading or fast forwarding to the gates crashing open, I now have to start watching 5 minutes out to get Leith's input , suggestions, insight and selections.
Funny old world huh...

Charlie Bukowski got a reaction from Pegasus 9 in CJC offering refunds for last Saturday
Good grief, surely Mills is begging because they have paid out everybody who had to stay down there for at least another 2 days, owners, trainers, jockeys, staff etc
And all the same who flew down for the week or specifically for NZ Cup day .
This is one of the most pathetic things I've seen or heard.
If he had of apologized and said you are entitled to your refund I dare say many would have accepted the apology and maybe a quite a few would let it ride.
I urge every one of you to collect that refund.
Hope its the sound of a ceo falling on his sword,,,

Charlie Bukowski reacted to TurnyTom in CJC offering refunds for last Saturday
Interesting comments Shayne, so for 3 day delay are we looking at 1500 to 2k ... no club could afford that

Charlie Bukowski reacted to Hi Ho Silver in CJC offering refunds for last Saturday
I heard Tim Mills on the radio say basically you can apply for a refund but please don't because we can't afford to pay you. Is he for real??!! Who let him out to say that sort of nonsense in public?

Charlie Bukowski got a reaction from meomy in Roger Lang : Your memories of RC
My memory is standing right next to the Winners stall at Waipa as Roger came back in, think I even backed him as well.
Think the colours were just about Blue/Light Blue or White quarters or Black and White Quarters. similar anyways
