Another way to bypass GeoBlocking is before you leave NZ download onto the device you are taking overseas with you a programme to allow you to access your home PC.
The best programmes for this are:
    Team Viewer
    Any desk
They allow you to be in front our your PC whilst overseas, nice and safe and secure.

OK lets have a comp of a little bit different kind on the last Group 1 of the season.
Three options of which you can choose ONE.

    - Pick 1 horse you, get $60 EW (not win place) on it split evenly $120 total spend
    - Pick 2 horses, you get $20EW, split evenly on both horses and a $10 Quinella. $90 Total spend
    - Pick three horses, you get $10 EW on each horse split evenly, a $5 Boxed Quinella and a $1 Boxed Trifecta. $81 Total spend
Only one option can be used, risk for reward.
Bets will be imaginary and I will use NZ TAB odds for the winnings.
Please use number and horses name posting your entries, entries not correctly done may be disqualified.
Prizes will be 1st $50 bet on a single horse, 2nd $25 bet on a single horse,3rd $10 bet on a single horse, all of the persons choosing of course. Half of any winnings will be kept to go back into future comps.
Entries close 12 noon Saturday. Scratchings after entries close go onto TAB fav and then 2nd fav etc if you already have the Fav in your selections.
Good luck to everyone entering, I will do the scoring to give Say No More a weekend off, so expect errors LOL...but I am sure we will get there in the end.
    My decision is final...cheers.

This will prove to be a fascinating exercise for one of Harness's greats
Historic Week at Rolleston as Thoroughbreds Start Training
    Jun 19, 2023
Mark had mixed ambitions as he began his thoroughbred training career last week.
Mark had two very different  ambitions as he started his official career as trainer of thoroughbreds last week.
On the one hand he is determined to make  his own way, learning as he goes along, enjoying the new experience with his group of youngsters and accepting there is a learning curve involved.
On the other he has the same target that  trainers with decades of experience and success share. To win a race at Group One level.

“I know that sounds like a big call but you have to have goals and that will be mine. It may not happen but I believe in aiming as high as you can”
Mark has four youngsters in his care, three yearlings purchased at Karaka by Savabeel,Proisir and Tivaci ;and the grey War Decree two year old,Buster Shaw, who will be the first to be saddled in the stable colours, hopefully later in the year.
“He should be ready to go to the track sometime in July. He will start at home here next week. Then we will have to wait and see how it goes. He’s a lovely horse to dao anything with ” Mark said.
While Buster Shaw was placed with Mike McCann when Mark was still wholly committed  to the harness team now he  is his own chief adviser-by choice.
“I prefer to establish my own routines at this stage, learn from the horses and use my experience with the standardbreds to see how we go. There’s a lot that transfers straight over between the codes especially in the early stages”
One of those is the use of the treadmill to which the youngsters have already become familiar with. Another is the jog machine and it has been well accepted also.
“I am happy with the yearlings. They have settled down pretty well in the new environment  and respond well to increased handling”
The new order at Purdon Racing means Mark is seen less often in the cart on hopple days.
“My role going forward is  being there to advise and help out where necessary. But Nathan and his team are going well and this is a time of year when the harness team is at its lightest. I will still take a turn in the cart when required and available ”
Jockey/trainer Sam Wynne has offered to help out as an exercise rider when she can.probably  starting with  Buster Shaw this week all going well and the McCann apprentices will be made available on visits to Riccarton. Mark is still assessing his other needs as exercise riders, being aware of what a key strategy in training it is.
“Ideally I can find someone who lives in the area around here who can fill a role. It is one of the challenges as time goes on”
Mark is clearly enthusiastic about his new role but the value of experience means he is taking it one step at a time at this early stage-but quietly  aiming for much bigger strides to come.

You may be totally stuffed physically, but you have seen as many Derby winners as I have.
We note ( Sir ) Patrick is not present tonight. I feel he would have had a punt ( small) on one of Jame's rides.
    From Our TAB:
Champion New Zealand jockey James McDonald has picked up a strong book at Royal Ascot 2023 with rides across all five days, including on a couple of the Australian raiders in Coolangatta (Day 1) and Artorius (Day 5).
You can back* any of James McDonald's rides at Royal Ascot (21-25 June) and if they finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th, we'll give you your money back (up to $50) as a Bonus Bet!*

They have to build the stable at Cranbourne, and  then with Singapore coming to an end October 24 it can mesh in pretty good.
Sam Bergerson can mind NZ ops while Mark organises the set up in Cranbourne. MW can even commute. You know that MW is a partner in Te Akau Racing.
Donna can pull some horses out of Singapore, That situation will collapse before its final date i reckon. Then Donna can take charge at Cranbourne. Sam can work in either set ups. What a great opportunity for him.
    Very smart people these!

Pegasus 9 reacted to JJ Flash in HKJC Welcome to 3 Kiwi Owners
Horse racing: NZ owners allowed to race in Hong Kong www.nzherald.co.nz Three New Zealand racing owners have been granted a historic first and will become among the first foreigners to be allowed to regularly race horses in Hong Kong.
While foreign-owned horses are allowed to compete at the international meetings in the mega-rich racing jurisdiction, horses that race there regularly have to be owned by Hong Kong Jockey Club members.
Those members, who until recently had to be Hong Kong residents, are then eligible to enter the ballot for import permits, which each equate to one horse they are allowed to compete at the Sha Tin and Happy Valley meetings.
The HKJC has eased those restrictions slightly in the last two years to allow a handful of overseas members and the only three new members with permits announced this week are all New Zealanders.
New Zealand Bloodstock and Pencarrow Stud owner Sir Peter Vela has secured membership and a racing permit as has his daughter Petrea Vela, a former managing director of NZB and now board member. They are joined as new HKJC members and permit holders by Greg Tomlinson, breeder and owner, who owns Nearco Stud.
That will mean all three can have horses racing under their names and in their colours in Hong Kong, which for Sir Peter will be a return to the scene of one of his greatest moments.
“Hong Kong racing has always been very special to us because of its relevance to the New Zealand industry and the wonderful success New Zealand-bred horses have had up there,” said Sir Peter.
“One of the greatest wins of my years of ownership was when Romanee Conti won the Hong Kong Cup for my brother Philip and I in 1993. It was a very special win because of the quality of horses she beat. Urban Sea finished behind her that day and she went on to win the Arc in Paris and become the dam of all-time great in Sea The Stars and Galileo. “So to have this opportunity for myself and Petrea to be members and have horses racing in our family colours is a great privilege.”
Tomlinson is a quiet but hugely successful achiever in New Zealand racing and also no stranger to elite-level success in Hong Kong, having bred one of the region’s great recent stars in Beauty Generation.
All three have been granted what are known as Private Purchase Import Permits (PPs) which will allow them to send horses which have previously run in Hong Kong to race for enormous stakes.

This is a massive opportunity for the 3 Kiwis. I recall that in the past a very Prominent Dubai Sheik applied to be an owner there  and was turned down.

Did anyone see this 2yo filly win race 1 in Sydney today?   Every now and then a horse catches my eye and this girl certainly did.
Trials were very good and she raced up to the trials.  Didn't beat much but the way she did it was impressive, especially the way she bumped a smaller horse out of the way coming round the final turn.
Not sure about the dam but the granddam (Mnemosyne) was a multiple group winner.  Love to hear more about the breeding from the buffs on here.
Will be following this girl with interest.  Those spring 3yo filly races beckon?

How will that impact their NZ operation, will they seek Australian owners? I suppose it was inevitable.

thanks John , the Comps have been quite interesting. your quick scoring something to behold as well.
seems the feeling here is the Punters like to earn dollars and pick winners , more so than beating a race cafe rival head to head.
perhaps whatever format you use (the latest 3 mini matches 'Head to Head' per week was neat) .......
the next few 'highest earners' and also the next few 'Most winners' picked on the day should qualify for Finals as well ?
maybe a BIG Finals Day each month ? . possibly first 3 Saturdays of each month qualifying...  all 3 disciplines get rewarded . Head to head , highest earnings, and most winners selected  ??

Racing NSW reveal $6.5m metro and provincial prizemoney uplift
Racing NSW have injected an extra $6.5m across metro and provincial races in the state. Picture: Mark Evans – Getty Images     2 Prizemoney for New South Wales thoroughbred racing will soar to even greater heights with Racing NSW announcing a $6.5m annual increase to minimum stake levels for Metropolitan and Provincial events.
The central focus of the stakes surge is on Metropolitan and Provincial minimum prizemoney levels which have received the lowest proportional increases since 2004.
In that time, the Country sector's minimum prizemoney levels having increased by a much higher proportional amount in addition to Country specific initiatives such as The Kosciuszko, Country Championships, Showcase race meetings, Highway races and Country restricted boosted races.
Beginning August 1, 2023, the prizemoney injection will see NSW's standing as market leader in prizemoney returns to participants only strengthen.
In announcing the prizemoney boost, Racing NSW Chairman Mr Russell Balding AO said: "It's imperative that Metropolitan racing is strong and that benefits generated from these meetings flow on to all sectors of the industry.
"Minimum prizemoney increases underpin Metropolitan racing and NSW's place as a world class racing location.
"$150,000 races headlining public holiday fixtures will also invigorate these race meetings," Mr Balding added.
The news comes on the back of last week's announcement that The Big Dance, staged at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day, would increase in prizemoney to an eye-watering $3m, an increase of $1m.

    ***************************
    * Metropolitan Saturday minimum prizemoney will be increased to $160,000 per race, rising from $150,000.
    * The minimum prizemoney for Metropolitan public holiday race meetings will be increased by $5,000 per race to $65,000 and will carry a feature race of $150,000 in prizemoney.
    * The minimum prizemoney for Metropolitan midweek races will be increased by $5,000 per race to $60,000.
    * Minimum prizemoney for Provincial races will also increase to $42,000 per race from $40,000 per race from 1 August 2023 adding almost $2 million annually to Provincial prizemoney.
