Rider Opie Bosson (Imperatriz) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a), the careless riding being that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Front Page, resulting in that gelding being tightened in onto September Run, which resulted in Front Page and September Run being hampered and checked. Opie Bosson had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eleven meetings to commence midnight 1 April, 2023 and to expire midnight 11 April, 2023 (2 metro, 9 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea.

“Jockey Opie Bosson might have won a Group 1 on Friday night — but what the hell was he thinking?
The same goes for Nash Rawiller.
Have both of these world-class jockeys been hiding under a rock for the past three weeks?
There were two separate and dangerous incidents Bosson and Rawiller were responsible for in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Both jockeys have been rightfully suspended for 11 and 12 meetings respectively.
Both incidents could have easily caused two falls; they were just lucky that didn't happen.
Under the circumstances, Bosson and Rawiller should have been rubbed out for longer.”
