Unfortunately it has been forgotten in this country that horses are an animal and are part of the rural make up of things and it is rural people that fall in love with the horse by attending there local home town races. No one falls in love with racing by watching it on a TV screen and i'm afraid the more tracks you take away from people the less people will follow. It would  be an interesting survey of those people in places like Blenheim, Gisbourne ect that have had there tracks closed in recent years how many have made the effort to go to any race meetings since. I know myself from a town that the track closed to race about 35 years ago how few people follow racing from my age(40) and younger.

Agree Aaron.  Real pity that our new CEO of NZTR has announced that he is going to lead the selling of assets and closure of tracks. The strength of racing over the ditch is built on every tin pot town across the country having their own racecourse and their big day in the sun, something that is gradually disappearing on our side of the ditch.  Closure of tracks in not the big issue over there, on the contrary, country racing is being encouraged.   Pity our leaders can't see this.

Hey Pondy welcome back...yes you had your best day...you dont need to do the bet for John I will gladly do that for him...cheers. Yes team Gunsynd was on fire LOL...pity we were so hard held for so long...bloody jockeys ....🤣

Got home and been thru the scoring.. John's scoring is totally 100% correct and CONFIRMED.
Been perusing the scores and some fantastic results but by far and away the best performer of the day was John (Say No More) in the way he stepped in and did an amazing job in trying circumstances.
With all the Scratchings, then late Scratching and people trying to sub in Scratchings with others that were also Scratched, people not picking enough BB's and some being greedy picking 3, people missing picks etc but he got them all sorted and still came in with a 100% correct outcome.... I can categorically say that with what happened yesterday I would have had several muck-ups... but not John.
The next best performer of the day was Team Gunsynd... I scored the best total I have in the comp and Team Gunsynd had their best round of the comp .I think that's a hint that I need to go away again next weekend....I just need to find a scorer.!!😀
For John I want to give you $100 to spend next week on any bet type you want.

While  Brian (Kundalini) is now doing the Team scoring and race by race updates, I thought I'd still keep my Team scoring up to date as well.
So here are the totals as I have it after allocation of the Top 8 bonus and the $250 Head to Head win bonus.
Just to be clear, these bonus's are separate and based on the base scores at the end of the comp day.
(i.e., I havent taken the base scores and then added in the $250 for the Head to Head winners and then based the Top 8 bonus on the base and head to head totals.... it does make a difference believe me).

The obvious answer is to send your horse to the Waikato, then you could accept for 5 or 6 races every week and just pick the one that suits you with the smallest field where you draw inside 3.
It does strange that 13 horses accepted for the maiden 1,600m at Wingatui and then two weeks later nothing further than 1,335m for them at Gore. I hesitate to suggest incompetence, but it is the word that does spring quickest to mind.
I doubt whether anybody at NZTR realises that the distance from Gore to ChCh is virtually the same as from Hamilton to Wgtn.
Someone mentioned 7 race programmes: that isn't because of the lack of horses, it's because of the lack of imagination.
