It's embarrassing because they can't compete, monoplies do that. God help us if the likes of the Craiks and others have to give up. As for Coles ludicrous statement about being bored shows the mentality of the man, he created the monopoly.. now he's bored ffs. On a positive note awesome to see Up Your Quota win the Railway, and fantastic interview with the lovely young lady who handled the dog, that's what we need to secure the future of Greyhound racing in NZ .... are you taking notes NZGRA bloody do something, and stop these idiotic trackside presenters spouting how fantastic the Cole Kennel is.

The fact is Cole has a giant monopoly on CD racing, nobody can compete and so they simply give up. It is steadily creeping up the North Island where the likes of the Craik kennel ( incidentally awesome trainers ) will eventually struggle, but before that others will fall by the wayside. The bigger picture is grim and NZGRA have done nothing to regulate by trying to create a more even playing field, they just watch as one kennel gradually invades everywhere. There is nothing wrong with being the biggest and or the best, but for the betterment of the sport how about thinking about promoting and encouraging people to get into training and ownership, create competition. You could introduce some sort of capping system for instance. My guess is the Cole kennel would have about 60% of all dogs racing in the C.D, and near on 50% in the North Island. How does that look if Mr or Mrs Bloggs looks at getting into the sport ? .. and people of influence like Rosanowski need to stop waffling on about how wonderful the Cole kennels achievements are ... boring boring 😴 .. imagine if the Premier League consisted of only Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd playing each other every week.
 

You may of heard and/or saw some rain in New Zealand over the past 6 weeks particularly in the north island? 

I was there today who are the 5 trainers? the track was in very good condition. 
if the trainers said the track was bad why did they run there dogs?

What about the cover up of the DMBA   in the CD
They blamed the swabbing stewart what a joke the person who's dog got the swab also signed and said they were happy 
I want to know how if your on dmba how can it get into the sample thats been taken  did she spit in it did she piss in it 

There is still another one to come there's been 4 positives in 4 months the hole just keep getting deeper. our own people in the sport will sink it what a shame 
 

Why are there so many morons contributing to the downfall of greyhound racing in NZ ? .. Everyone is so sorry when they get caught, well you will be sorry when you cause a lot of good people who love their dogs and the sport to lose their livelihoods. 
Shame on all of you, none of you should be ever allowed back or to ever own a greyhound again even as a pet.

Time for something positive, what more can you say to describe this greyhound. 14 from 14 over the distances, easily New Zealands best greyhound. His sectionals prove he can match it with the best over the sprint and 520 ... 17.29 and 29.98 then still powers away at the distance. Garry Cleeve and his wife are also a credit to the industry, the always turn their dogs out in top condition and they are always bouncing on the end of the lead, obviously happy dogs. I would hope the greyhound industry will try and promote the Know Keeper story in mainstream TV and newspapers mmmmm ??? ... anyway well done to the Keeper team.
 

The races at Palmy yesterday were crap, late scratchings galore, obviously Robert's dogs getting to the track late were travel affected. Rosanowski boring as ever and his calling as boring as ever. CD racing is boring.. especially with the monopoly.

Same as Australian sites showing everything about a dog including  litters and breeding

Most people in the industry are as naive as grnz so im not surprised this is the end result 
Everytime i make a suggestion regarding any issue, people either at the track or on here push back and say nothing needs to change and that there isnt a problem or its a problem to big to solve.
Its been clear since 2013 that this industry will struggle to reach 2023 and it very well may not with the current direction its going in.
Regardless of stats, greyhound racing in new zealand has a poor standing in the publics eye and i cant see anything changing in a year that grnz couldnt have started changing 10 years ago

Easier for trainers to train sprinters than it is to train 500m+ dogs. It's the sad reality of racing in NZ today

Hilarious. Pass on the blame to GRNZ when these Trainers literally can make their own choices on whether or not to travel. 
And you want to mention "common sense".... 

Casting the blame on other industries wont solve anything 

People in this industry are naive. Having worked outside of the industry, most people think the industry is already closed and many find greyhound racing a repulsive sport, to the point where I don't discuss any of my dealings within the industry with people.
I sure hope they don't enquire into where all these dogs being bred that aren't put through gap or make it to the track go because this will be the undoing of racing.
I've Said it in here plenty of times but no one even wants to acknowledge that there's a problem that needs to be rectified. Everyone defends the people that do this.
 

What are people's thoughts on the new review into the welfare and safety of racing dogs? 
Will be interesting to see the outcomes of this.
Surely mass breeding will be under the microscope this time id imagine.
