Unfortunately for Dogzstar we did have a repeat of a previous time.
Paigezim had 72 x the Place 6 going into the last and got the first 3 placegetters so ended up with 216 times the Place 6 of $97.70 for a collect of $21,103.20. CommonSensical got 2 placegetters but Dogzstar hung on for 2nd with CommonSensical getting up for third.
Everyone who was live in the Quaddie going into the last struck it but wasnt big enough to trouble the leaders.
10 people turned a profit for the day.

p.s. I don't mind at all if my fellow competitors go Melody Belle as well. I'm just in this and all comps in fact for the personal challenge and fun, rather than any reward. In this comp the personal challenge is of course to be sailing as close to the edge as you can, without tipping over !  . I've managed it well so far ... but tomorrow is another day. Magnificent Kiwi mare 'top-of-the-tree' in NZ .... but over in Australia it'll have to be another step up, and from gate 13 she will need to be clearly better than them. She may be better than them, but not the significantly better that she will need to be.

I thought he must have been a pretty handy horse, or I can't imagine I would have had the interest in him that I did at the time. 9 wins from 40 starts was pretty useful for sure.

Two horses I remember with fondness were Jay Ribbon and Glamis Lad, both were well performed southern horses. They both went to Trentham and won the Parliamentary and the White handicap resulting in a huge double giving me one of the best collects in my life

Styx was a chestnut colt bred in 1963 by his owner Eric Davies by Syntax out of the Sajakeda mare Motion who was bred by Ngaruwahia trainer Lloyd Burdett. He raced 40 times for 9 wins. He was trained by George Smith initially at Takanini and then at Te Rapa. He won at his third start at the Paeroa meeting held at Pukekohe on the 18/12/65. At three he won the 1967 Kings Plate. His biggest win was the 1967 Foxbridge Plate beating a top class field ridden by Ron Taylor. Second was Fairfleet ridden by John Riordan and third Tatua and John Grylls with Dee Dee and Gary Edge fourth. Norm Holland won six on him and Brian Andrews, Ron Taylor and Colin Underhill one each.

I can recall Styx. 
Gubellini has a set of NZ Turf Registers with all the race results and records of every horse so if he sees this he will be able to post the full details of Styx. Watch this space. 

Was handy horse. Won his way to open company incl Kings Plate at the 1967 Cup meeting.

Raced by te akau or Ngaruawahia farmer Eric Davies. Was also a Waikato committee man.I rode in shows with his kids. I believe his widow still shares ownership in a TA syndicate or two.

Not surprising that so many continue to enter …. when a competition is extremely well-run with a variety of formats (individual, pairs, trios, teams of 6, etc), simple rules, an easy entry process,  prompt and lively accurate updates throughout the day, played in a good spirit and with no 'smart-arses' … then a competition is a 'winner' and people keep coming back for more. It is a competition that adds great value to a Saturday's racing enjoyment.
