We are all very happy here on Race Cafe  that you survived the Tranny Gully ( Transmission Gully ) family trip.

Special mention of :
a.  Gubellini'  placed  but poor scores until today.  stunning form reversal today .He knows seedings in tennis.
b.  Peter RS   should have been Top Seed today. Suspicious selections enable an excellent  9th seed. Joint Favourite to win overall.
c. Warren .knows the rules. Didn't want top seed.
d. Ponderosa. Consulted by many. Top judge. Strategy player supremo. Only fault  is he doesn't own a Turn Me Loose Filly.

Ok something a little bit different for a one day comp this week - a knockout/survival of the fittest type comp. 
Please read the "Free Pass" rule below very carefully
How it works - pick two horses in each of the 12 designated races.  The primary objective is to make it to the next race - you need at least one of your two picks to finish in the first 4 to progress to the next race.  Your secondary objective is to accumulate dividends - you will have $10 on each of your selections.
Winner - the winner is the entrant who makes it through all 12 races (with at least one runner in first 4) and accumulates the most dividends.  Or if nobody survives all 12 races, the last person to be knocked out.  If more than one entrant are the last to be knocked out, the winner will be the one of those entrants with the most dollars accumulated at the time they were knocked out.  For example if there are only three people still alive going into the 10th race, and they are all knocked out in the 10th race, the one of those three with the highest dollars after race 9 is the winner (in this example the race 11 & 12 results will count for nothing).
Free Pass - you will have two Free Passes at your disposal across the 12 races.  You don't have to use either or both of your free passes, ie. you can use none, one or two free passes.  You would use a Free Pass if there was a race you didn't fancy your chances of surviving (picking one in the top 4).  The downside to the Free Pass is that you forego the opportunity to accumulate dividends in that race - again a bit of a risk/reward thing.  However given the primary objective is to survive all 12 races I'd be inclined to use mine.
If you use your Free Pass in a race just mark it as for example "FP" - you don't need to post selections for your Free Pass races.  If anyone posts numbers and FP in a race the Free Pass will prevail.

I think you are right. My first pick came fifth or something, so I get points there. Hoping Duais dogs it in QE and that is me for the day. I know I won't be near the top but with this comp, the details can come later no bother at all.  I figure if you are alive with two weeks to go, anything would happen. 
Bearing in mind, you are competing for prizes but your entry is....FREE!!! So, there is that. 
End of day update is very reasonable.

I thought about posting updated standings during the day but I don't for several reasons:
- until the end of the day its never like for like, with some people having had two runners and others with two runners yet to come ...
- by the time I've calculated an update another race has run and the update is out of date
- I've got a few other things on today
When it gets down to the wire in the last week or two I will look to post updated standings.
I don't agree that people lose interest.  Not that many follow this religiously during the day, and with last week's leaderboard and the summary of picks it's easy enough to work out yourself how the table might be changing.

archer he does a bloody good job please feel free to put your hand up any time to do it ...thats what I get really peeved about...we try to do things for peoples enjoyment and you guys want to have a dig at things...some people are never happy...maybe you would be happier if we did not bother with these comps...really makes me angry...John is outstanding and gives up his time freely...maybe you should appreciate that sometime.

Welcome to the first comp of 2022 - an individual comp but with similar rules/scoring to last year's teams comp.  Paul (Ponderosa) is flat out with work at the moment so I'm stepping into his big shoes for now.
Prize:  Scooby has kindly put up a $300 bet (win and/or place) to the winner - the winner will keep half of any collect from the bet with the other half recycled into future comps.
The format is pretty simple - pick two horses in each of the races and nominate two of the races as Best Bet races.  You will get $10 each way on both picks and a $2 quinella. Double $$$ for your Best Bet races.  Highest tally at the end of the day is the winner.
Scratchings - you can replace scratchings up until the posting deadline - please do so in a new post rather than editing your original post.  Any unreplaced scratchings (regular or late) will go onto the TAB sub, or the second favourite (by Win tote price) if you already have the sub as your other selection, or you have two scratchings.
