  1. Sunline is linebred to Pardal and his ¾ sister Tellaris, which in turn provides a male and female strain of French Oaks winner Adargatis. The dams of Crepello and Better Honey are full sisters but unhelpfully, come through male strains. Adargatis is correctly linebred to unbeaten Ormonde and full sister Ornament, and also carries a line of St. Angelo, a male strain of Agneta who's third dam Little Agnes is a full sister to Polly Agnes the second dam of both Ormonde and Ornament, but again female strains of a female ancestor. However the Crepuscule / Mieux Rouge double does provide a female strain of Agneta to balance St. Angelo's male strain which likely reinforces the Ormonde / Ornament presences.
  2. Black Caviar – Channeling Domino? A clue may lie in her balanced linebreeding to five lines of Alcibiades. However it is unlikely this on its own accounts for her racetrack career. Alcibiades sire Supremus is by Ultimus, who is intensely inbred 2m x 2 f to Domino who appears more than 50 times in Black Caviar's pedigree, a remarkable effort by a stallion who sired only 19 named foals. Additionally Royal Academy's line of Bolero carries a male strain of Blackstock (Hanover – Mainnie Himyar) Mannie Himyar is Domino's full sister. Snippets line of Misty Day carries Ariel whose second dam is Mannie Himyar, so now a male and female strain of Domino's full sister. Further back Snippets tail line has a female strain of Yankee (Hanover – Correction) a full brother in blood to Blackstock. (Correction is another full sister to Domino)
  3. Gavelhouse auction - 12thJuly 2021 – Lot 10 Someone got a (pedigree) bargain. https://www.richhillstud.co.nz/news/archive/47096/satono-aladdin-strong-demand-for-satono-aladdin-yearlings
  4. Snowfall adds the Irish Oaks to her Epsom victory. https://www.richhillstud.co.nz/news/archive/47151/satono-aladdin-deep-impacts-snowfall-sublime-in-irish-oaks-romp
  5. Interesting when you find something you weren't realty looking for. Male and female strains of Cosmah as per Epsom Oaks winner Snowfall.
  6. Summary of balanced linebreeding present in Deep Impacts colts attached.
  7. Epsom Oaks winner Snowfall has balanced linebreeding to Cosmah, Petition, and further back Troutbeck and full sister Mountain Lass. Presumably the duplication of Cosmah is bringing the lines of Banish Fear / Herodias closer and through an opposite strain. Female strains of Cosmah may be hard to find, Gleam Machine comes to mind.
  8. Herewith a consolidation of the balanced linebreeding present in some of Deep Impacts better performed fillies analyzed earlier in this thread. Unsurprisingly the greatest numerical presence is to Banish Fear and her second dam Herodias (providing the filly factor, ie a son and daughter of a female ancestor) The surprise is the number of presences of balanced linebreeding to St Germans. A copy and paste from the very first post in this thread follows, and may provide a clue: The effectiveness of Agneta and Desmond are possibly enhanced by St. German's line of Torpoint who carries Tibthorpe, the full brother to Desmond's fourth dam Fair Agnes. Also Tibthorpe's dam Little Agnes is the third dam of Agneta and a full sister to Polly Agnes the second dam of Martagon, Ormonde and Ornament.
  9. Article ex Racing Post Masakazu Takahashi World Premiere produced a strong finish under Yuichi Fukunaga to win the Group 1 Tenno Sho (Spring) at Hanshin on Sunday, holding off favourite Deep Bond by three-quarters of a length. In a thrilling 83rd renewal of the most important Japanese contest for stayers, there were four who held strong chances racing well into the final furlong of the two-mile event, but it was 42-10 shot World Premiere who made steady progress from midfield and then moved clear of the rest. Curren Bouquetd'or had come through to challenge longtime leader Diastima but weakened to finish third behind the strong surges of the first two in what is Japan's longest top-flight race. Christophe Lemaire had won the last two runnings of the Tenno Sho, worth over £1 million to the winner, on Fierement but had to settle for fourth this time on Aristoteles. World Premiere is similar to Fancy Blue reviewed earlier in the thread with linebreeding to St. Leger winner Troutbeck and his full sister Mountain Lass. Additionally World Premiere has balanced returns of Herodias. As noted in the earlier post the second dam of this pair Rydal is the full sister to Kendal who is by Bend Or out of Windermere.
  10. Linebreeding to a full brother and sister should suit both a colt or filly foal (assuming ti is one of the strongest lines) Example of this method attached. Of note: Diadem won the 1000 Guineas, ran second in the Oaks ,and won both the July Cup and Kings Stand Stakes - twice. Diadumenos was rated as the best sprinter of his time.
  11. Show Gate has male and female strains of Admiration plus Sainfoin and his full sister Sierra. (Sainfoin was bred by Queen Victoria and won the Derby of his year)
  12. Won the big dance in Hong Kong last weekend. Also a 3/4 sister to Terzetto above.
  13. Three good Oncidium fillies out of Summertime mares, all with balanced linebreeding to Malva, plus Rydal and her full brother Kendal. Additionally Leilani and Oncide have balanced linebreeding to Electric Light. So, male and female strains of female ancestors plus the full brother/sister that would be expected to work equally well for both fillies and colts. (Of note Electric Light is the second dam of Arc Light - see Star Belle pedigree above)
  14. One of the latest stakes winning fillies by Deep Impact attached. Despite a preponderance of balanced male linebreeding to Artist's Proof, Craig an Eran, and St. Germans, Herodias provides the son and daughter of a female ancestor likely to best suit a filly.
  15. A little more grist to the (fillies linebreeding) mill:
  16. A pair of 3/4 sisters with balanced linebreeding to Fairy Gold and her full sister Dame d'Or.
  17. The sisters Sweet Nymph and Sweet Spray provide some insight into how linebreeding to a son and daughter of a female ancestor may work best for fillies. Their multiple lines of Queen Mary are captured through the balanced linebreeding to Blink Bonny herself an Epsom Derby and Oaks winner. There is a view in linebreeding circles two female strains of a male ancestor also works for fillies. If there are examples of this method that have resulted in good racetrack performers please post their names here. Of note: Queen Mary's linbreeding is similar to the that of the Bend Or/Macaroni cross. Sweet Nymph is the 7th dam of promising Australian galloper Ayrton.
  18. The subtleties of linebreeding: The pedigree of Halo illustrates how the balanced linebreeding of Windermere and her full sister Frivolity is carried forward through male and female strains of Muncaster. When Cosmah is mated with Tim Tam the champion filly and 1984 Hall of Fame inductee Tosmah resulted. Tim Tam appears to be free of Muncaster yet the balanced linebreeding to Frivolity and Windermere continues with Tim Tam providing two female strains of Frivolity and Cosmah two male strains of full sister Windermere, thus male and female strains of a female ancestor which is likely to best suit a filly.
  19. Haven't done any analysis on Time Test thus unable to comment on your planned mating with Holly Dee. However to answer your question regarding new sires with no progeny performance data, and using Time Test as an example, start with his sire Dubawi, identify the lines working in his best progeny (Including Time Test himself) then select broodmares that carry those lines forward through opposite strains. All of the above pedigree sheets should provide a useful template.Yes its laborious and entails a lot of analysis but the good news in this case is all the heavy lifting has been done for you – have you considered sending Holly Dee to Staphanos?
  20. Another of Deep Impacts good ones from bloodlines somewhat less well known in this part of the world. Nonetheless the constant factors remain remarkably constant.
  21. Attribution: Whilst the analysis these posts are based on (and any errors therein) are mine and mine alone, the breeding principals they are based on are wholly owned by, and attributable to the late H.D.C. Hampton whose breadth and depth of knowledge of international breeding in a pre-digital world was, at the same time extraordinarily comprehensive, incredibly detailed and very well researched.
  22. The forgoing illustrates how identifying the “constant factors” in the pedigrees of a sires best progeny can be utilized to identify mares that may suit him, and in turn provide useful clues as to what lines may work with his sons when in turn they go to stud. Attached are two additional mating suggestions for Staphanos that may warrant consideration, and serve to illustrate the principle. The Captain Rio mating has balanced linebreeding to Craig an Eran and his full brother Sky-rocket, Prince John and Busted. (Stud book returns suggest Staphanos covered at least one Captain Rio mare this season) The Golan mating has balanced linebreeding to Craig an Eran and Sky-rocket, Prince John, Source Sucree, Hail to Reason and Eight Thirty.
  23. Lei Papale, 3yo filly - 5 starts for 5 wins. Balanced linebreedig to Craig an Eran, St.Germans, Herodias, plus full brother/sister Astrophel and Dulce.
  24. Article ex Racing Post: Gran Alegria: an authoritative winner at Hanshin on Saturday JRA By Masakazu Takahashi UPDATED 7:41PM, NOV 22 2020 Favourite Gran Alegria landed her third Grade 1 in a row when overcoming difficulty in running to win the Mile Championship. Winner of last year's Oka Show (Japanese 1,000 Guineas), Gran Alegria showed a smart turn of foot to take the lead in the closing stages at Hanshin before winning by three-quarters of a length. Winning jockey Christophe Lemaire said: "I was able to get a good position after the break, and she was able to run calm and relax very nicely in the race. "She has an ability to change speed quickly, so she ran very fast and was able to catch Indy Champ before the finish. She is very strong. I am looking forward to more success next year." Indy Champ was seeking back-to-back victories in the Mile Championship, but had to settled for second behind Gran Alegria.
  25. Gran Alegria, the first G1 sprinter by Deep Impact. Her finish in the Sprinters Stakes Jpn was spectacular. No pedigree surprises when compared to other good ones by him with balanced linebreeding to Hail to Reason, Bull Lea, St. Germans and Herodias. If the link is unserviceable the video is also on the Rich Hill Stud website. https://youtu.be/gHkQ2a41xO0
