  1. Ironically, given the current climate, a certain, in-form, Purdon/Rasmussen runner, namely THEFIXER, has been saddled with a rather unfortunate name. Just sayin'.
  2. WARRIORS are such a heartbreak team for their loyal but long suffering supporters. Under performing franchise who have no excuses with regards to setup and financial stability. The name is now associated with failure and disappointment. Very hard to see them getting deep into the playoffs this year. They might flirt with the top eight if things go well but even if they do they will bow out in week one or two of the playoffs. There's always next year. Keep the faith.
  3. Just watched my last game of the BLUES for this season. Couldn't beat a makeshift/patched up team of Highlanders at Eden Park. Handling errors galore by a team lacking any leadership or direction. Tana Umaga seems to be having little affect on a franchise that continues to under perform. Is it bad selection, or just a lack of ability? I no longer know or care. GOODBYE BLUES for 2017.
  4. I actually meant Dryden Amanda. I remember her running 2nd to Norton one night and the quinella paying around $200. The memory is a little hazy though so I could be wrong. I'm sure she was trained by Jim Geddes. I even stayed with the late Robin Geddes once on a trip down from Auckland. I met him when he campaigned Game Dryden up north in 3yr old trot races. Great family, good memories.
  5. Change of luck today, at Westport. My super cautious ANY betting cost me a good deal more profit but a win is a win. Been following the Geddes family since Amanda Dryden days so used Buckeye and Mogal in my multi. 806 Final Fld Win Deductions Apply FPWMulti P$1.002 The Valiant (2) @$3.30$11.0010 1807 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply FPW7 Precious Sara (4)10 @$4.50 1808 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply FPW10 Buckeye (21) @$2.60 1809 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply FPW8 Mogul (4)10 @$2.70 ANY 2,3 ALL 4, 11 bets @ $1.00, TO WIN $300.90
  6. I know. Everyone has hard luck stories when it comes to punting but I seem to be having a run of these. This is about the tenth three horse multi that has just missed in the last week or two. It can be so frustrating at times but after thirty years of doing this I am certainly used to it.
  7. Having no luck lately. Was just trying to get a small bankroll for Alex Park but alas.... 1st,4th,2nd 09 Mar 17 09 Mar 17 17:19 O 711 Final Fld Win Deductions Apply 1712 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply 1713 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply FPW FPW FPW Multi $10.00 3 Aveross Don (3) @$2.30 9 Living Glory (21) @$3.80 2 Silver Dale (2) @$2.70 $10.00 Not winner ALL 3 TO WIN $236.00
  8. If the info below is to be believed I'm afraid it looks grim.
  9. Whenever you would bump into me and my mates, Tim, you would always say, "they must be bloody easy if you lot are here tonight." I live down south now so haven't been to Alexandra Park or Cambridge for years now but I must say it has been very pleasing to see just how well you've done since getting serious about horse training. You were always a good judge and, as far as we were concerned, a great punter, so a hearty congratulations from one of the old gang. Rob
  10. I got a voicemail wishing me a Happy Birthday and telling me that as a gift I had had $50 deposited into my account.
  11. Great night for ALLSTARS and hearty congrats....BUT.....I can't help feeling Lazarus was more than a little disappointing. He got a much better run in transit than I had imagined but when asked to let down he didn't find a lot. Waikiki Beach nearly nailed him from behind even. I know it was a muddling pace (fast, slow, slow, fast) but given his huge wrap I just expected more.
  12. Didn't bet today but have just watched the video on HRNZ. To me the driver gave the impression that he thought he was going to just breeze on by passing the 200 metre mark. Definitely lacked urgency but then what can they do these days without getting a fine? His drive up until the turn was good and the horse was drawn out in time to win if good enough. To lose by a 1/2 neck is frustrating, especially with his lack of vigor over the concluding stages. I know if I had had a bet on Southbound Train that I would be having a little tantrum about the driver not getting stuck in.
  13. A hearty congratulations to ALL STARS getting three horses into the big race.
  14. I never said Mark would drive seven winners I merely pointed out what the return would be on a multi. FOUR winners and TWO placings was a great night at the office for ALL STARS and in my original post I stated that with some luck he may drive three or four. Congratulations to Mark and Nat. Also I'm sure Roy (celebrating his birthday) would have been proud of their continued success. I see Dexter Dunn has been booked for Motu Meteor. Why not get the best if they are available. Looking forward to this weekend at Menangle for more All Stars successes.
  15. Will it be another Blue Ribbon night for Mark Purdon and Natalie Rassmusson and the all conquering ALL STARS stable tonight? Mark has some superb drives tonight and, with any luck, should manage to bag three or four. With the majority of the races being over the mile the draws and luck in the running will naturally play a part. Good luck to Mark and Natalie. One can only hope that if he does do something remarkable tonight then he may well receive some coverage on either TV1 OR TV3 Sports on Sunday evening. Fingers crossed. If all seven Allstars horses won tonight the return would be over $4k for a $20 wager.
