  1. Does anyone have any stats on Pentire as a broodmare sire? I particular - have any 'nicks' eventuated for Pentire mares along the same lines as Centaine mares nick really well with O'Rielly and Zabeel mares nick really well with Stravinsky?
  2. What were people's thoughts on Bullbars? I couldn't make it for the first time in a number of years.
  3. Keeper and Zabeel will be fine. They have syndicates behind them so they start at 60/70 mares. However some of the others will be hard yards starting from 0. Stravinsky and Pentire I wouldn't be surprised if they get 60ish. Which no one would be happy with I see Paco Boy is being 'rested' this season from nz - so looks like that's the end of him.
  4. This is pretty intesting reading...... have you guys actually booked them in, or thats just what your planning..... I've booked nothing in.... just sitting and waiting for another month to see what happens What about everyone else.....
  5. So Who out there in race cafe land has made bookings for 2012 matings. I'm hearing that other than darci brahma and Savabeel all the rest of the stallions in the Waikato have hardly got a booking Me thinks some stud masters were a bit too greedy in setting there fees for this year, and they may be regretting it now!
  6. Alan Sharrock Sir Patrick Hogan Joe Walls Mark Chittick
  7. Festival mare = dont bother
  8. The market has been very strong in places. Good 'K2' colts were very strongly sought after. I thought many actually went for overs I thought. Very hard to make money paying 50k for a Weanling. Will prob need to make 80-90k as a yearling to make money. Was a real type market. Pin hookers were the main buyers. Most of the low prices were culls - small, late foals and poorly conformed.
  9. My money would be on Haunui - they already have existing relationships with Darley - Iffraaj is a Darley horse - and wasn;t Elusive City a dearly horse to start with. Almutawakel and Carnegie are other Darley horses to have been associated with Haunui. I don't think Nadeem shuttled to the NH either did he? Haunui's roster doesn't have a Danehill horse and they only have one SH stallion (Don Eduardo) out of 3 - and I know they have spare stallion boxes. However - possibly equally as interesting as the 'where' would be the 'how much'. The stallion has had some good sales through NZB in the last couple of years - up to 240k - but service fee was at AUD$20k + 10% GST in Oz last year - and he couldn't stand anywhere near that over hear - I speculate up to even 50% less. Then there's there real question - why are Darley getting rid of him!!!!
  10. Really like the stallion. What a shame about the stud he is going to. Therefore I'll be out. Such a shame he wasn't at a better farm.

    Np 2yo

    19 noms 4 a 5k 2yo at np on the 27th - I wonder what the attraction is?
  12. Rock n Pop now becomes a very valuable stallion prospect, being a G1 winning son of Fastnet Rock. I hope he stays in NZ once he finnishes his racing days. Anyone know if any NZ studs have a share in him (ie like the Oaks owned a racing share in Darci?)
  13. I am also looking to lease a K1/K2 mare to head to a commericial northern stallion. Phone 0272299972.
  14. Yes the Vela's do do lots of good things for the industry. They will probably be spending $1m + paying Oz studs service fees this year, and once you exclude all the shareholder nominations from their matings, they probabl would be spending half that on paying noms to Kiwi stallions. My point was does this say in their confidence in the NZ breeding industry if such large spend is going offshore.
