Really sad news to hear of Trevor's passing at the age of 81 after a long illness. A real gentleman.
What a career....from Proud Chief to Sunline and everything in between.
Condolences to Noeline and Stephen and family. RIP.

Lawyers cost too much. The trainer has been a bully to me and if I sell the debt I dont care what happens once I get my money. I neglected to mention his son is a lawyer. That is why the legal system is a waste of time.
My understanding is that NZTR or the RIU could take away his license?? But at this point they are not interested in helping. I have only a small number of horses and little knowledge around this matter. I am asking for advice not criticism, can you help? Bye the way there are legitimate agencies that will buy the debt. Or are you a gangster?
I bring to a public forum because I want a public discussion on this. How many people are in the same boat?
What do you mean fairly average behaviour IMO? I thought the average person pays there bills???

My contribution is also decades, in fact generations, my family has donated land to a race track still operating today, but unlike you, I keep myself updated with technology and best practice based on research. There is an old saying, believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see. Time for old fellas like you to swallow some humility and hand over the reins. That is if you can entertain the idea that you don't know everything?

TDCometh, mate no one said we were! but it is really amazing that until my post to Scoob simply referencing slander and defamation and 'those' at back of it being watched etc that I came in for some of the filthy derogatory comments made on the other site, is that the type of person you are? and is that really your level of class?.....strikes me my post made a whole lot of em very uncomfortable, but it showed there seems to be alot of very nervous, insecure, goons on that other site, as I never even named anyone!
FarTooMuch mate, oooohhhh (my knees are knockin)  I couldn't give a rats ass if anyone over there is upset, there is no need for that kind of filth they are clearly more than happy with their lot over there so what's with the contant visits here?

That Time Test looks great. Is it just me or has anyone else noted that the Dubawi sire line goes with the Pins/Snippets mares? Awesome value also considering that Makfi has gone.

Sorry you are wrong re Mr Myers, it is a known fact that he sells all his weanlings (good or bad) at this sale and does not take anything through to the yearling sales. There was a good article written about this a couple of years back. Yes some of the other vendors/breeders who do not want to take yearlings to Book 3 put their lower quality weanlings through this sale, and I agree with you that this does not mean there is not something worth a taking a chance on. Sally McKay picked up a gem a couple of years ago!

psyc got a reaction from fitzy in May Sale - as a vendor is it worth it?
Judging by the table presented after all the expenses Mr Myers most likely still lost money, but that is not the point.Never mind the pedigree, if you go and look at all his animals, and the same for Waikato Stud, you will notice that they all have a reason for being there. These are mostly horses that will not make it into the K1 or K2 sale. So they quit them and put time and effort into the good ones. That is not to say that one can not pick up a bargain. I think the best buy of the entire sale was Sir P buying back his own broodmare for $150K. Will end up being a bargain.

The only people employed in this industry are there for one of two reasons, 1. They love horses and 2. They are immigrants hired for cheap labour (O'Sullivans). Also, unless you are "connected" or have money behind you, you are going nowhere. This is of course, a generalization.

FItzy my last take, if you look at MF’s record, he was trained on a beach, in the far north, he won by 5 beating Jon Snow running 1-26 and change, he finished behind Hugo on several occasions and Hugo got bashed up over in AUS rather badly when meeting better horses.
When meeting the same old in the 2000 guineas on a fast track at Riccarton he was done like a dinner, they went 1-33 and MF finished nearly 10 lengths off them, the explanation from the jock was “ better suited on softer ground””. That says it all. His prize money ? Well the reality, by the time you add up his rearing, breaking and training costs, entry fees, travel costs etc, there would be bugger all left, so, my analogy of average befits that summary.
What should happen? NZTR should recognise that Chch is a city worthy of frequent racing and good prizemoney, program better racing for the grass roots racing people in the SI, then maybe you will get owners and breeders in the NI to spread their horses around, send well bred babies down to good trainers, race for good money, on a very good track, and it’s a win win for everyone. SI breeders have the choice of sending their mares to stallions worthy of their hard earned, but they will only do that if the end game is worthy of their contribution and participation. So, really, the ball is in the court of the Petone heirachy and therein lays another story coming to a cinema near you!

Or trainers overdo them and break them down. I wonder how many like this will be on sale next couple of days? It can not be the horses fault, do not blame the horse? Blame the trainer and their ignorance. Are we not supposed to be smarter than that?

I have a Cape Blanco colt on the ground rising 4 year old and just maturing now and an absolute stunner to look at. I also saw the stallion himself and was impressed (not as good looking as Makfi) but I would not spend that kind of money without seeing where it was going. I also had an Irishman visit 3 years ago tell me that the Japanese had already been looking at his weanlings in Ireland. They obviously had an eye on him all along and I would not like to say that the Japanese do not know what they're doing?? They also got Makfi.

In case nobody has noticed the studs only serve two types of clients. 1. Themselves and 2. (As someone pointed out) those spending other peoples money. I too have sent four mares for foaling and mating and was left with three empty mares and pregnancy from a December mating. I have also noticed that studs (larger NZ ones) repeatedly stick to stallions with sire lines that suit their own broodmares increasing their own success rates. There's a hint, you should be looking to mates mares to studs that have similar maternal lines. Having said that there a plenty of cheaper alternatives. I for one have given up wasting money on mating, vets and boxing/grazing and instead opted to buy young stock already on the ground and dispense with all the associated costs. If I did not own my own piece of dirt and do my own breaking I simply could not afford it. If it was not for my love of the horses and a limited number of people in the industry (and there are some good bastards) I would not be bothered.

The example of Moody directly violates racing rules. The personal behavior of a trainer falls under the legal system so in essence you actually made it a rhetorical statement.
I do not condone the behavior, and yes often people will not come forward to prosecute due to the embarrassment of it becoming public. It is a difficult line to draw, but at what point do the industry regulators become a police force? Only when you apply for a license to train??
