  1. There should be a cap on rating points. I see Pop Star Princess copped 18 points for her debut running second? WTF?
  2. That Time Test looks great. Is it just me or has anyone else noted that the Dubawi sire line goes with the Pins/Snippets mares? Awesome value also considering that Makfi has gone.
  3. Or trainers overdo them and break them down. I wonder how many like this will be on sale next couple of days? It can not be the horses fault, do not blame the horse? Blame the trainer and their ignorance. Are we not supposed to be smarter than that?
  4. The fee going up does not matter to the studs that all have shares. It only kills the small breeder, which they do not care about either. More for them?
  5. What is wrong winning a G1 at 6? Most horses dont last that long. There a a lot of stallions that finish their racing career at 2. How do you know their offspring will last to 6?
  6. I think NZ trainers are not up to it and/or they succum to the pressure of owners. Why does Waller not believe in pushing 2 year olds. Maybe because he knows they are not up to it. And if you do the homework you will find out the 2 yr olds should not be jogged for more than 2ks. This distance should be shortened as the speed work increases. Please correct me if I am wrong but how many trainers make sure that the animals heart rate goes over 200 to ensure they are achieving max oxygen intake? How many trainers know what fast twitch muscle fibre is and what it is useful for, and how to train for it? NZ is so far behind the science of what they do. That is why training is such a big secret. I think many of them would be embarrassed by their own ignorance. That is not to say they don't have success. If you give any one 100 horses to train you will always have winners.
  7. Thats right but makfi has not had the best broodmare band in the country at hos disposal. And just like Burgandy he never won a group 1 Dick
  8. Round up only way to get rid of it, and sew new grass, rye and red clover.
  9. That's right just like Burgandy or who is that other Cambridge Stud Stallion??... Tavistock never did win a Group 1. He is over rated anyway when you think about what Makfi has done
  10. Surprising given that it is where the market is. Especially when you consider only the second rate stallion come here
  11. The thing about Cape Blanco or any Stallion that stands at Cambridge is, If they got the opportunity to the same mayors that Hogan used for Tavistock they would be every bit as successful if not bettor! His motivation is to look after and promote his own stallion first. Anybody else's he just clips the ticket.
  12. I like this idea. I can record it and watch it when I get home and do my bets on fixed odds Friday night. (usually better) Can't watch when working Sat. They are following the Oz version of Formline, which is done on a Thurs?
  13. I have a Makfi filly for free lease out of Volksraad mare. Other sibling has trialled and been sold to Asia. 2yr old and 16hands has filled out nicely and looking strong. Lease with or without R.o.P. Please no comment from the aim chair expert brigade. If you are genuinely interested contact me 0800 46 55 22 for viewing by arrangement. Looks to have the makings of an Oaks? Thanks
  14. You got it LEGGY. It all seems pretty clear cut!

  16. I have a Cape Blanco colt on the ground rising 4 year old and just maturing now and an absolute stunner to look at. I also saw the stallion himself and was impressed (not as good looking as Makfi) but I would not spend that kind of money without seeing where it was going. I also had an Irishman visit 3 years ago tell me that the Japanese had already been looking at his weanlings in Ireland. They obviously had an eye on him all along and I would not like to say that the Japanese do not know what they're doing?? They also got Makfi.
  17. Not bagging the person either, because I don't know them but why would someone in their right mind come from there to here?? Unless they are not wanted where they come from or we are paying too much for them to be here?? How is it that after an international search we end up with someone from across the ditch?? Bye the way "open class" too much focus on efficiency and cost cutting has created many of our problems instead on focusing on growing the industry and generating "new" revenue streams.
  18. Another overpriced WS stallion? Did not think his sire line would suit them, except Savabeel x High Chap, or are they branching out?
  19. In the back of the NZ Stallion Register
  20. Do you recall the name of the program so we can search for it please?
  21. In case nobody has noticed the studs only serve two types of clients. 1. Themselves and 2. (As someone pointed out) those spending other peoples money. I too have sent four mares for foaling and mating and was left with three empty mares and pregnancy from a December mating. I have also noticed that studs (larger NZ ones) repeatedly stick to stallions with sire lines that suit their own broodmares increasing their own success rates. There's a hint, you should be looking to mates mares to studs that have similar maternal lines. Having said that there a plenty of cheaper alternatives. I for one have given up wasting money on mating, vets and boxing/grazing and instead opted to buy young stock already on the ground and dispense with all the associated costs. If I did not own my own piece of dirt and do my own breaking I simply could not afford it. If it was not for my love of the horses and a limited number of people in the industry (and there are some good bastards) I would not be bothered.
  22. The example of Moody directly violates racing rules. The personal behavior of a trainer falls under the legal system so in essence you actually made it a rhetorical statement. I do not condone the behavior, and yes often people will not come forward to prosecute due to the embarrassment of it becoming public. It is a difficult line to draw, but at what point do the industry regulators become a police force? Only when you apply for a license to train??
