  1. They are that desperate for anything, they'll do anything.....
  2. Geez Phantom, have you planted a listening device in my study.....here in Oz?........good on you, you are on the button......shame can't say the same for the 'let downs' in Petone.....they ruined this industry, along with the trainers association and the horse traders/bloodstock agents........and it's beyond them to fix it.....in all reality we shouldn't let them try....should we?
  3. Thems the kiwis betting on AUS racing Pakari, .....the Hoi poloi here in Oz don't give a tinkers cuss about NZ and yet the dolts in Parnell/Petone think it will raise bazillions......it'll raise a decent laugh that's all.
  4. If you need to ask that question then you will never understand the answer.
  5. I would hope both Glenda and Bernard are shitting themselves, whilst Bernard at NZTR is relatively safe....for the time being, Glenda should do the right thing and resign, before they do a Malcolm Turnbull.....
  6. Can of worms, but a beauty all the same......imagine, a decent tax on all those horses sent to Asia, that tax then distributed back into the industry coffers.....it would assist those less fortunate who don't ever snag a good one, one good enough to sell for gazillions to Honkers, those that get up at sparrows or earlier to muck out, those that drive a 10yo holden or ford, and that tax then goes toward stake money that encourages those grass roots bugger with the 'average' horse that holds up the domestic race fields and provides the punter with the product to bet on.....you know it makes sense!
  7. That might be why you didn't see Ellis, or Vella or Mr and Mrs Lindsay standing up and throwing questions from the floor, poor Mr Rogerson did though, he seems deluded, he thinks mucho moula will be generated by the race fields legislation, shame, a man and his dog give a damn over here in Oz about racing there, and only the man has a wallet, so precious little will hit the coffers from this neck of the woods.....someone tell Rogie,,,,,,quick smart.
  8. Show him a pic of Hong Kong, a box at Shit tin to be more precise, that'll do the trick.....
  9. I reckon Mr Q could be Greg Bennett, he trained fo me, he is Australia's most respected breaker, he's a real horseman, and broke in Makybe Diva, plus won countless trainers premierships.......he's a fab fella and would be their last stop shop.....would he take on the job?....knowing Greg, probably as he loves a challenge....we shall soon know.
  10. I do too Pegasus, however, there is a meeting scheduled for as early as this morning so the 'owners' can argue their case with the stewards......never mind the horse, it's all about them you see.....
  11. Wrong one!......they just won with a Savabeel and not much money for it.......that's racing for you.
  12. If you bet to the jump, Betfair is of no use....damn it.......no time to get matched.
  13. As an aside, living in Oz you can't access your NZ TAB account, total blackout, so why on earth would the many Kiwi's living in Oz bet into the NZ racing, maybe through patriotism?......any betting, and it's minuscule will go through TAB CORP or CORP agencies......sorry, the misleaders, those that knowingly mislead the industry and the punters re the race fields legislation and expected revenues should be held accountable, and through the right legal channels if necessary, ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law.
  14. NZ TAB FO were the worst I've ever seen, total rip off.......and their place odds, well, no words to describe. I opened a UBET account and found them to be way better, not great place odds, but way way better than NZ TAB. It's an insult to offer the punter odds that deter betting, or encourage the punter to look offshore, because of the lack of gambling culture in NZ, [save sports betting] they have got away with this for years, but shortly the chickens will come home.......an example for the unitiatied, 1-15 the place NZ TAB.....1-22 Aus Corps, 1-08 NZ TAB .....1-15 the place Aus Corps. When you bet 5 figures, that's unreal and unviable......no one holds a gun to your head, but to stay in business you must be competitive, thus ........
  15. It's an oldie but a goodie, you can lipstick a pig, but it's still a pig.
  16. They're known to be very creative Bazach, very.
  17. The key word is ''indirectly'......like most things coming out of Petone, it's white noise and spin......they are trying to justify their jobs, that's natural, can't blame them for that, but the reality should be, most need to re-apply for their jobs, the whole place needs a clean out, I've said it before....root and branch reform. That's the only way confidence will return to the industry, if it doesn't happen, the domestic product will disappear completely or at the very least diminish to point of negligible.....and another hundred or so Kiwi's will flock across to Oz to join the 700K + that are here now.
  18. The Elephant In The Room, well, from where I sit it's massive, it's called NZRB........John can and will recommend all he likes but the track record at NZRB is abysmal, and that's being kind. Whatever is put forward will be positive, knowing John's track record, but to rescue NZ Racing from the abyss, is it possible? The culture has changed, Kiwi's don't come from a "true" gambling culture. Corporate or individual bookies would add another dimension to racing in NZ...and it needs to happen. Unless competent people are charged with implementing the changes, then what's going to change...but at least Messara's report will give an insight into what can happen...which is more than what's on offer now. As one notable Aussie journalist stated on Twitter yesterday - "if will be more embarrassing if you don't take notice of what Messara has to say. From what I hear NZ racing is no longer on its knees...its prostrate and struggling to breathe"...
  19. Just to bring you up to date with the story about Torcedor’s sale...the horse has been sold to Jamie Lovett of Australian Bloodstock for a sum they believe was under the odds...he will be trained by Andreas Wohler who handled Protectionist for the syndicate. The horse will come down with the first lot of contenders but his program will depend on Wohler’s assessment of his progress.
  20. This will either be the biggest night in NZ's racing history, or a dud scud missile.......and we know what happens with unexploded ammunition don't we?
  21. Yeah if ya luv mud, gumboots, freezing cold, heavy 11's and jocks that can't steer.....oh and expensive pies and beer, ....oh gee I just got hit by another wave....damn it, the keyboards a tad wet now, I'll just hold it up to the 23 degree sun,....bugger yesterday was 29......in saying that it can't compare to Waipuk!
  22. Just standing here in the beautiful sunshine at the Gold Coast races..with a pocket full of $$$$... Thank you Lindsay Park racing for putting the polish on La Diosa...their professional system, developed over many many years, continues to enable horses to reach their potential, something her trainers in NZ, would not have been able to achieve (training tracks, weather etc) so full credit to them for recognising that HH&D could do it for her. should be a lesson to all those sitting on the fence about sending horses over...just bite the bullet and do it...and not necessarily send to CWaller..there are others ... Just to ram it home...they’ve just trainer a winner for Vela...a Darci mare at Tatura...
  23. In one post you’ve highlighted the two most influential breeders in the world today...Khalid Abdullah and HRH Aga Khan...where would our industry be without these two gentlemen? We seem to hear constantly from the huge multinational breeders/agents and those spinning their latest stallion coup... but these two just keep breeding and racing without any great fanfare but with amazing success...willing to take a risk I.e. Enable by Nathaniel and Vazirabad by Manduro are great examples of thinking outside the square and not confirming to commercial trends. perhaps we can take a leaf out of that book and consider the unconventional ...?
  24. Yep, I made the mistake of paying up for 2 horses for the Pearl series bonus. As they are in the SI, it’s been a complete waste of money. I have 2 more for, this season and I’ve given it a miss. Yes, the bonus systems in Oz are of great benefit, whether it’s QTIS or VOBIS. Even BOBS has its advantages...but Pearl? It’s seems it’s skewed towards the top part of the North Island where the bulk of the “influence” sits.
