    This should come under Integrity.
Does this open it up to riders doing whatever they want in these areas where there are no cameras?
Wasn't Blossom Lady a trotter?  This site is for real horse racing.

Full circle. They put TAB's into pubs to stop the money leaking to the Bookies. People want to bet but the TAB don't want to take their money.

When are NZTR going to come out with some sort of announcement re the immediate future of Racing.
Are you planning for a return to racing once we drop back to a Level 3, or a you sitting on your hands waiting?
Surely, we are advanced enough to keep Racing going on a Level 3, they are doing it in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and parts of the USA.
Have you contacted Trainers to see how many they have kept in work and what rating band they are, so you can prep meetings to suit? Not everyone has tipped their horses out for a spell.
If we are not planning on continuing, our good horses and top-level jockeys can make plans to be racing in Aus, their racing will continue in some form. Even if they can’t use the big cities, they don’t have to have it at flash track now that they have no public. They have plenty of space to keep people apart, top-class provincial tracks, and public that want to bet on racing. Even their reduced stake money looks juicy.
Level 3 could be here in a number of weeks. Do we stay or do we go?
Please keep us informed of your plans, and please issue a statement so we do not have to listen to a bloody boring Blog.
Not everyone is going to die, and you can only keep people cooped up for so long.

Have RITA commissioned an independent review of the new betting platform including the cost so far and how much work is required to get it to a satisfactory state.

    Patiti
RITA have not specifically commissioned a review of the new betting platform costs, although this matter was covered in the normal annual audit conducted by PWC and in the section 14 Audit undertaken by Grant Thornton. As you will be aware the platform was commissioned at the beginning of the year so the organisations focus is now making it the best it can be and ensuring we quickly address any concerns our customers may have as to its on-going operation.

"It would seem that the NZTR is a quasi fiefdom where nominations, and therefore appointments to the board, are controlled by an ongoing legacy. Does RITA have the ability to review and execute a completely different NZTR board nomination and appointment model?"

    Berri
Without commenting on any one particular code governance model, the pursuit of best practice governance has been covered in the second bill, which the government are presently considering. Building on the direction contained in the Messara review, it is obviously essential that wehave the best possible people in key industry governance positions. We await feedback from the government.

Under Estimated loss of revenue : Are you going to bring forward the return of free to air TV racing channel ?  (even if only for NZ racing)
Also the return of hard copy Race books to other retail outlets beside the TAB stores.       As this topic is for question only I have made it straight to the point, however I can offer 1st hand experiences of how the lack of the above are costing our game thousands of dollars

47 South  The TAB have driven a number of innovations in this space with racing now being available on Spark Sport as well as on SKY.'s Trackside. There are active conversations underway to look at having some racing content available on free to air television and also through online media. RITA has been actively working over recent months to support a new punting magazine following the Informant closing, We are hopeful of being able to confirm a new publication in the next month or so.

    Question for Dean:
Why are the TAB racing turnover figures not publicly available to the extent that they once were (full disclosure on a weekly basis), when the majority of the racing public have an interest in them? Are they really that embarrassing they need to be hidden?
    Thanks in advance.

    Rusty
Historically in the pure tote only years, turnover was the number one measure of revenue, given the standard deductions made in the various bet types. As customer preferences have shifted more to fixed odds, the number one measure for revenue is now gross betting revenue or in other words what margin or profit we are making when we sell a bet.

the poor sap that calls himself  GM of Sports Wagering here in NZ will work out why Sports yields are down since Sportsbet started pricing the markets. NZ racing today head to head odds $1.85 the pair = 108% while sports games lines such as Souths vs Storm  - and + points starts $1.90  the pair =105%. Rita announced Sports betting margins over past months are well behind, around 3% i would guess which equates to the lost house % advantage pre the 'new' (loosely used as works like a relic from the past) betting platform. Obviously mathematics wasn't a strong point of the current GM of Sports Wagering. Someone do him a favour and buy him a bloody calculator for Xmas but make it an early present he needs it now.
Word is the last 5 months sports betting is behind by 30 million on budget how does that work when the new platform was sold to the Industry that it would increase turnover by millions due to all thousands of more options it could take than Jetbet. Budget figures for those 5 months was no doubt just plucked from the sky to justify the 40 million plus overruns for the Platform. Maybe also send the NZRB accountants the same early Xmas present
Yes the new platform was going to pay for itself in 3 years due to increased profit from the extra millions it would generate along with doubling customers from 90,000 to 180,000. Yes not hard to see just bullshit the Industry with figures to sell them a lemon. Ha the 90,000 customer base would have declined given the feedback over the last 5 months.
The relic won't even pay the 17 million a year to run and service it. The only place the NZRB's budgets and forecasts belong is on the Cartoon Channel.
If the NZRB was owned as a division by a top 500 Fortune Company every one of them right now would be cutting their losses, bowing out and shutting it down. What does the NZ Racing Industry do appoints the CEO who sold the lemon to a working group that is formed to get the Industry on track to turn its financial performance around. How does someone positively participate in a group to make something work that they have helped to destroy by stating blatantly unachievable (to anyone with half a clue) targets. Yet he still draws a salary of hundreds of thousands a year which given results = imposter, fraudster or just a great bullshitter. Probably the last would be the favoured selection.
The clocks has been ticking a while and as someone quoted a few months ago "the silence is deafening!" no one has been held accountable for setting the Industry back tens of millions and a huge loss of customers to the rival betting companies. Its an Industry that thousands depend on to survive not a lemonade stand so why haven't heads rolled? You have had your time you didn't the get results promised so what are you hanging around for there is no achievement medal coming. The only plus out of RITA so far is that we don't have to listen any longer to the drivel that was delivered to the Industry prior to it's existence. You can say harsh comments but it's 100% deserving given the current situation which will only gain further downhill traction given the sliding decline in budgets and turnovers.
I read online that the Oxford Dictionary is currently considering to add 'NZ Racing Industry' as a new derivative slang for the word f@#$ed so at least they know how to read an Industry in decline..
Mmm isn't Jack a derivative for John? Ray knew something the NZ Racing Industry should have been saying 18 months ago and the scary part is he has been dead for 15 years. Although in saying that the 15 years probably equates to how far the Industry is behind than it should be thanks to clueless CEO's and top management that it has had to manage it.

Griffin reacted to Condor in Damn TAB app.
There are just so many aspects of this site that shows little if any thought or care the NZRB have for the racing punter .... many are major as discussed i.e. lagging, info inconsistency, compatibility issues, App issues, upfront and re-occurring costs associated etc etc... this is before you even get into the upfront build cost and how we have ended up here....
but like a lot of things in life, for me it is also the little things that sometimes count , and when these little things are missing... many and most times the reason these are missing is  the supplier simply do not care and or have passion for what they are doing.... which kind of sums up a large reason why we as an industry are in our current position....
One of the little things for me is the info displayed on the race itself when either looking at tab platform of extended form.... 2 very interesting and important aspects for me around a race are its grade.... G1, 2, 3 listed etc and also what purse of the race is...... both these points help me establish seriousness of entrants from top to bottom along with caliber of entrants and just all and all gives me a full picture of the race prior to engaging in form, barrier, ground etc.... but  these are deemed unimportant to list.... is this because of the share embarrassment of seeing the grade of race and purse in comparison to our Australian cobbers   ... good example ..... 2YO 1400m  lsited race for 50K @ Ellerslie, Listed WFO 2800 Flemington  400k...  or is it as i said they really just dont care?? Seems Oz tab can easily list... Its the little things, as my punting may be a drip from a tap leaving the TAB as a customer.... a dripping tab still fills a cup and a leaking ship will eventually sink...
