Tokyo Tycoon for me. Ignoring the Sistema result (and Hastings on Saturday which didn't count), he was 4 from 4 including the "Listed" Karaka Millions in which Ulanova ran 4th. Again ignoring the Sistema, Ulanova was 2 from 5 and her Group 3 win at New Plymouth was against an average field (yes I know you can only beat what's in front of you though). My personal belief is that you shouldn't have to win a Group 1 to be eligible to win Champion of the year. I couldn't be bothered trying to win an Everest because its not a Group 1....why would Imperatriz go there to try and win a Listed race as it wouldn't help her win Horse of the Year

Like Idolmite said, when it comes to a points system, no real "study" is needed as anyone and everyone will just go for the favorites. But with a $$$ based comp some study is required and it's risk vs reward. Take the risk by picking a $20 shot, it runs 5th you get nothing. Take the favorite and it runs 2nd paying $1.40 your collect is $14.00 so you're better off.

Also out of the Stewards’ room at Sunday’s Grand National Hurdle meeting - jockey Aaron Kuru was fined $4000 for overuse of the whip during his winning ride on San Remo in the feature race. Jumps riders are allowed 10 strikes before the 100m and Kuru was found to have used the whip 13 times before the 100m and 15 times in totality.
