  1. His ride to win the Tatts Tiara last winter was as good as it gets , he can ride .
  2. He could have been thinking he could get spelling , grammar and elocution lessons from yourself .
  3. You mean like Thorobred Weekly , it would mean getting out of bed early on a Sunday , we're not professional .
  4. Was there a better heart break song than "All By Myself" , RIP .
  5. I understand what you are saying but you have to understand JJ , he is from the same world as these people and believes he has to back them , he not a bad fella really , just feels he has to educate us mere mortals in the finer points of business . To even believe that you can mention Cameron in the same breath as V'Landys is the definition of uninitiated . Oh , and I'm not wrong .
  6. To be honest putting up a list of the positions he has held doesn't equate with meaning he was successful in those roles . Someone could list the positions that John Allen has held in his career , but it means nothing . Listing people's CV's just proves that the Lazy Susan of executive rolls is too bloody easy to jump off and on , and NZ clearly has a limited pool of capable people to choose from . It's just a bunch of suits playing musical chairs .
  7. Good to see your still fulfilling your business mentoring for the uninitiated , carry on the good work .
  8. Depends on which team you were supporting , massive result in my books , Up Up Cronulla .
  9. Haha , couldn't make it up , after saying we have too many horses sold off shore , I read that Supo Solitario has been sold to Honk Kong . So the question to be asked , with this horse having so much ability and likely to be running in our better races next season , and top end stakes being what they are now , why is a horse like this being sold ? And to make it clear I'm not having a dig at the owners . I am just asking the question "What is it going to take to keep horses in NZ racing ?" Could a solution be that we cap the number of raced and unraced horses allowed to be sold overseas . Is the industry allowed to do something like this to protect the industry . I repeat , I am not digging at the owners ,
  10. Absolutely love this week , must watch viewing , tape it and watch thru the morning .
  11. Definitely a positive in regards as regards stakes , very much a huge improvement , but my worry is that it is glossing over other significant issues , which from what I see are not being addressed . We still have too many horses being sold off shore , and I know there is no easy solve with this one , our breeding crop is slowly reducing and the vast majority of the numbers are being bred by the "big " studs , we need to give small independent incentives to start breeding more horses . Our riding standards are very poor and getting worse . Ownership numbers need to be increased , initiatives have to be implemented to increase this demographic and not just show pictures of smiling winners . Ending up with great stakes but with poor product isn't going to stop the decline in racing . I fear what might happen if Entain walk off in 5 years , do we have a safety net ready if this happens , because if not racing might not be tenable in the future . But our biggest issue is turnovers and the way punters are treated , they have to start finding ways to get people involved in betting , start by making sure they know they are valued , give them access to see and hear their "investment" , hence free to air TV and radio coverage , Let's enjoy the current positives but don't get blinded by the bling , sooo much work still to be done .
  12. I believe they are taking the grass removed from Hastings and relocating it to resurface Awapuni .
  13. No , you've just hit form , did you get the threat of gelding if you didn't up your game ?
  14. Mostly I agree , but he did say something many have been wanting for many years to help grow participation and introduce knew viewers , free to air racing , not sure he would have been told to say that . The biggest thing I took out of it was that Trentham is going to be closed for 3 years for it's rebuild ,going to place a lot of pressure on the CD tracks that are "available" for use . Maybe time to realize they need to bring some of the mothballed tracks back into use .
  15. I think they moved them north and they were in use at the Ellerslie races yesterday .
  16. Great staying races as many of us knew them will just be remembered as a memory of days gone by , even in Aus staying races are none events , if not for the Brits coming over for the Melbourne cup it would be laughable . A very sad situation , but a reflection of the requirement of the quick return . Has taken decades to get to this position and will take decades of dedicated breeding and investment and most of all will to return it back to what we knew . Never going to happen . Fast food generation , fast everything society .
  17. I heard the Racecafe RIU were investigating the form reversal of the site owner , guess who heads their RIU team , starts with an S and ends with Y . You know it will be swept under the carpet .
  18. Mate It's not that I'm a long way off it , 3 2nds , a 3rd , but 5 4ths worth $280+ kills me , yet smashed it at Trentham . I've been betting long enough that you have to keep playing and the form turns . I can feel it , next week i blow the cobwebs out , hang onto your britches .
  19. Top of the table clash , the way I'm going I may have to take a sickie .
  20. So what a smart punter does is look for horses that run on or close to the pace . Personally I have seen plenty come from the back , more about tempo .
  21. Flying on the punt at Trentham , Orlov , Mahoe and Duneagle , shame the comp isn't there .
  22. You think , the all knowing will have retort .
  23. Best overs of the day , Duneagle at 12s , on a G3 and inform , crazy money .
