Alex park during winter has ALWAYS had small fields, EVERY trainer races Cambridge ahead of Alex Park as it is considered EASIER to win a race at Cambridge regardless of stakes! this will not change anytime soon. Good on ATC paying appearance money, EVERY club should do it no exception. Owners need a better deal, more communication not just website access and ACTUAL participation this is where Harness has it over the Gallops.

I heard Copps banging on about John Magnus giving TVs for use in Trenthams members for Steeple day, I laugh because usually the track TV's are hooked into the PA system and you never hear any inter track races! and does ol Dessy boy know about the delay of watching on his flash TV's? the steeples winner will be finishing while you are watching the top of the straight already knowing the winner! How about a dedicated TV room where we can watch ALL racing without interruptions and manned betting windows? like a TAB on course! too easy I say, I can't believe tracks don't have this (Trentham for sure), no wonder people don't go on course anymore. Des you are NOT listening......but then again what's new.

The only 'Massive' increase has been in the COST to race a horse, CLEARLY EVERYONE agrees with that? that is locked down no argument. So if the increase in stakes had kept up with the increase in racing cost there would have been no drop off in participation, so total stakes have doubled but the cost to race a horse has tripled or more! CLEARLY EVERYONE agrees with that. The graph prior makes no mention of that increase at all so the increase in stakes means absolutely nothing. It is a crisis alright, but back to the original topic, racing was going on thousands of years before punting and if punting stopped dead would horse racing stop? of course not! the biggest problem is NO ONE wants to work together this game is rife with jealousy and assholes, and in among it all are really decent people, racing has always been about prestige rather than money and somewhere along the way it is all business now but no one wants to risk their patch to make a difference.
