In my personal opinion it is on its way out but the industry only has itself to blame. 

The sprint bend was not good. A lot of dogs looked uncomfortable on it and it was where the stewards were checking it after race 6 ?

Mate you are a Focken dickhead! Anyone at the track would have known before the first race! Why was the meeting even allowed to go ahead? They looked at the track several times as well. The dogs look more awkward on the corner now than before. Especially wide runners. I will no longer be punting or allow any of my dog's race at this track. And we are letting these clowns "Fix" Wanganui as well.

1). ZOE STAR (P Heterick) - had a 42 day incapacitation issued due to sustaining a hock injury when attempting to complete a satisfactory trial. Ordered to undergo x-rays within 24 hours to diagnose sprain or fracture with this to be reported back to Stewards.

2). BIG TIM MOSSY (P Heterick) - had a 42 day incapacitation issued due to sustaining a right carpal sprain when filling in for the satisfactory trial.

THRILLING SNIPER (7) - referred to the Veterinarian after becoming awkward in its gallop rounding the first bend losing ground with the field where it was reported to have torn right long head tricep with a 42 day incapacitation issued. Must trial prior to resuming.
MEG'S MUNCH (5) - referred to the Veterinarian after faltering free of interference rounding the bend before falling to the track where it was reported to have a compound fracture to its left hock, a fractured right tibia and fibula and a fractured right hock. Due to the catastrophic nature of the injuries the greyhound was humanely euthanised
 

what a fucken disgrace! So many injuries today and dogs in clear air. Goodbye greyhound racing with these clowns in charge. That last broken hock, the dog was in clear air. Disgusting! Don't be shocked if today's meeting makes the news!

its only a matter of time before this happens in NZ, the antis have already started to target Victorian Greyhounds. Lets hope the GRV have their act together unlike GRNSW because if greyhound racing is banned in Victoria, its only a matter of time before they come after NZ greyhounds, we will all be lucky if we still have an industry here in 5 years and if NZGRA acts the way they did last time, than I can see no way around this as they have proven in NSW that greyhound racing can be stopped, even if it means a huge dent to the economy and countless people that live of off the industry losing their jobs. I also find it interesting how ALL greyhound breeding in NSW must be stopped, does this mean that no one in NSW is allowed to breed a  greyhound?

no ones talking about nz, Not yet anyway.     Have you read the queensland report, Will you read the nsw report.   Not just live baitng, not just widespread use of performance enhancers,not just about all the evidence from the vets and vets nurses about what happens to these dogs,and they are the ones humanely put down.,not just about officials turning a blind eye,  Much more than that.      No ones attacking those in nz who love their dogs,just saying what has happened in Australia is not surprising given all the  revelations.

Have you seen the dogs Ahern races and the dogs Fredrickson races? Its hard to compare the two as trainers and I think this thread is ridiculous and stupid

Nothing to chear about. One nz bred dog in the final when the heats were dominated by them. Should be a cracker though, never been much of a fan of the dog but top prosecutor just keeps proving me wrong and with the splits he ran last week (which were phenomenal being as quick as the likes of caw crouch, brick and nangar star at their beat early and his run home being as good as dyna vikkers) will be hard to beat in the final, the only question being box draw. I think there won't be more than a head between opawa shackley and top prosecutor in the final and I'll chuck kava blue in for third

Question GOM?, how would Bob know there was no consequence when breeding to hormoned bitches. All indications that i'm aware of, say giving Steroids to bitches to suppress their menstrual cycle over a lengthy period is to the detriment of the bitch. If i had a choice between two bitches of equal ability, one raced cleanly, the other used steroids to suppress the menstrual cycle through out her race career, it would be a no brainer which you would choose. I only have to look at what happened to East German female swimmers that were state sponsored with Steroids. Steroids allowed East Germany to be 3rd on the Olympic medal count for about 25 yrs, it had huge and horrific results on the women athletes which still reverberate's today. They lost their breasts, grew body hair, and became male like. They produced spastic, crippled babys. As far as i'm concerned, no anabolic steroid is good for Greyhound bitches when it comes to breeding.

Peter Fenemor said on the radio today that the heats were very average in terms of quality, how about you get stuck into him next?
If you really think those heats were full of up and comers you are deluding yourselves.
I do understand they can only race what nominations they get, I was just trying to make the point that if that was a reflection of the dogs coming through in the north then things look dire, and I stick by that, but I am also hopeful some good young dogs will be seen soon.

I really feel for the future of racing in Auckland and Waikato if the dogs that are going around today in the Racing Series heats, they really are awful.
There is no doubt that this is the weakest area by a fair way now apart from the Walsh and Schofield dogs and maybe Mullane coming through, if the dogs today are the up and comers then Auckalnd will again be struggling to fill fields anytime soon, if you can't train winners up this way then it s really time to give up.

Gummmon Gary, comparing a dog under 2 years old with less than 5 starts and comparing it with those freakish dogs running fastest of night times is one of the worst comparisons you can use. 
I would love you to show me an average dog that has broken 29.60 at the meadows, good luck on that one. 

wouldn't worry bout it Sairy.Vikkers has run BON over 20 times from his 30 odd wins.I think most the other times he was within a tenth and had to do work.Im happy with Paul Wheelers opinion of him and at $1500 he is very good value.Another thing I like about him is the litter produced a few top line dogs and not a one off champion.2 champions and some top line performers in a litter bodes well for the future of the line.

Yeah comparing a maiden final to a FFA at one of Australia's premier tracks is a fair guide. The dog that ran fastest of night was a dog called Keybow. Based on times Dyna Vikkers would have finished 3rd in that race, less than half a length off the 2nd dog at his second start... 

Hes only been out of the money once in AUS at city tracks (running decent seconds and thirds to some of the best dogs to race in Australia) thats hardly nothing (alot more than what 80% of the dogs do in AUS). If you want to say that, you must have high expectations of your own dogs
