  1. You might want to check the definition of "troll."
  2. Good on ya. I hope you feel better blowing your own trumpet.
  3. They're all experts AFTER the race Tom. Funny that
  4. Absolutely Tom. Some horses aren't as tractable the Sydney way of going. Northerly is the best example I can think of in this regard. Then again you get a horse like The United States or Tarzino who both won very well at their Sydney debuts yesterday. Its definitely an important factor which must be considered if you're having a punt for sure.
  5. That would've been the safest betting option Memphis!
  6. Not quite Tom. I thought the super mare was the best horse in the race but thought TML was the safer betting option for a place. I'm happy to be proven wrong on this occasion
  7. Indeed Ted. I thought the mare was the best horse in the race but 3 chances at $1.80 a place from TML was a safer betting option. TML over raced after being ridden aggressively for the first 400m out of the barrier (Opie was unable to settle him once he got the lead) and was a spent force when they quickened at the top of the straight. First start right handed could also have been a factor in his defeat. Got this one wrong boys but was happy to see the super mare continue her domination. You'd have to say if she wins the Queen Elizabeth she'll be very close to be mentioned in the same breath as Sunline (even more so if she picks up the Doncaster on the way)
  8. Winx out to $1.80 to win & Turn Me Loose out to $1.80 to place
  9. I know where my $$ will be. Good luck if you have a punt
  10. Paid well too Ernie! Can't wait for the George Ryder this weekend!! Winx, Press Statement, Turn Me Loose, First Seal, Kermadec, Hucklebuck. Cracking field!!
  11. Nice one Tom. Weir has really come of age as a trainer the last couple of years. I was happy his horse won the Guineas to back up his Cup triumph.
  12. It's taken me 20 odd years to realise that place betting is the way to go Memphis! If I'd backed every horse I'd ever punted the place I'd probably have enough to buy half a dozen houses now. A 30% return on a $1.30 place chance is better than a 0% return for the same horse to win when it runs 2nd or 3rd. If only I'd followed this advice back in Waikato Uni days but better later than never!
  13. Correct Kotare. Divan ran 2nd paying $1.50 a place. That's 4 tips and 4 collects.
  14. All good Tom. I popped in to the TAB on my break and saw the race. They ran it at break neck speed which set it up for the swoopers but he still ran on well. Looks like a few favourites got rolled today. Chatauqua would have cost a few.
  15. I laid the favourite Xtravagant in the Guineas (finished 8th) & picked Tarzino (finished 2nd paying $2.50 a place). Stratum Star finished 3rd today paying $1.30 for a place. That's 3 picks for 3 returns Leigh.
  16. 3 picks for 3 returns. You're exactly right Leigh.
  17. Not sure about over the odds Tom but Weir's Stratum Star is the bet of the day in the Blamey tomorrow. Good luck if you have a punt
  18. We were pretty lucky with the weather yesterday Ernie. It was mild & overcast. Perfect weather for laying the slab. The tradie was telling me about a slab they laid recently on a day similar to today where they were having to wait nearly an hour between each concrete truck. The concrete was literally setting before the next load arrived!! Frame will probably be going up tomorrow. They don't muck around these days!!
  19. Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday Tom so won't be able to make it this weekend. On a more positive note our slab was laid yesterday and has been curing today in 39 degree heat!
  20. You're missing the point short stuff. The rule states a horse cannot register a cobalt reading of over 200. Lance & Peter both presented horses to race with cobalt readings well in excess of 200 thus breaking the rules. Just as Maria Sharapova was responsible for taking what she did Lance & Peter as trainers of their horses are responsible for what their horses take. There's no "pseudo-science" involved. If the trainers can't be held accountable for what their horse take then who can be?? Surely that's the reason why you pay a trainer to train your horse or am I missing something here?? What precedent will be set if there is no accountability??? All trainers will have strategically placed cattle troughs dosed with cobalt at their training establishments .
  21. And you wonder why NZ racing has been heading in the same direction as your numerous failed business ventures?? "A very good out" indeed. I'm not sure if the connections of the horses (who played by the rules and finished behind those of Lance & Peter) share the same sentiments. There's a difference between justice being done and having a very good lawyer short stuff. Why should Lance & Peter be treated any differently to those who have been rightly convicted of using cobalt illegally to obtain an unfair advantage over their opposition??
